  1. Arsenal 'very close' to winning a trophy - Salibapublished at 17:54 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March

Arsenal v PSV Eindhoven (20:00 GMT, agg 7-1)

Arsenal go into their Champions League last-16 second leg against PSV Eindhoven "very close" to ending a five-year wait for a trophy, says defender William Saliba.

The France centre-back wants to help his side win their first Champions League, and believes they are in a strong position to do so. The Gunners comfortably won the first leg 7-1 and host the Dutch side at Emirates Stadium in the return fixture on Wednesday.

When talking about Arsenal's title ambitions, Saliba said: "I think we are very close - we need to keep going. We can't stop working. When you're close and don't win trophies it's sad. With work we will make a big step and I am sure we will arrive there."

Arsenal, who have never won the competition, will face the winners of the tie between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in the next round if they advance.

"Everyone wants to win the Champions League. It's a competition that's hard to win - anything can happen," Saliba added.

Manager Mikel Arteta said: "It's a competition that we have a lot of enthusiasm for. We have been very consistent and this can put us in an exciting position. We are going to carry on fighting to win every game. These are the demands we put on ourselves in every competition."

  2. 'Villa will win big tonight'published at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March

Aston Villa v Club Brugge (20:00 GMT, agg 3-1)

I think Unai Emery will play the same way tonight. He likes to keep control of the ball. He likes to probe and not go gung-ho, he likes to keep the ball and tries to create openings.

We'll be strong defensively and as they come at us a little bit then we'll get the goal and then we'll go on from there.

The other night against Club Brugge, it's 1-1, you'd have taken the draw and we've ended up getting two goals in the last 10/15 minutes.

All of a sudden they have to really come at Villa now and if they are calm and their concentration levels are proper, I fancy them to go out winning by another couple of goals.

Manchester City are gone. Liverpool are gone.

England's hopes in the Champions League now rest on the shoulders of Arsenal and Aston Villa - who both look well placed to reach the quarter-finals after winning their away ties last week.

Arsenal lead PSV 7-1 on aggregate with Aston Villa 3-1 up on Club Brugge. Plus we have the Madrid derby with Atletico at home but trailing Real 2-1.

Tonight's other game sees Lille take on Borussia Dortmund - and that one is kicking off right about now.
