Aston Villa v Club Brugge (20:00 GMT, agg 3-1)

Aston Villa are looking to become the first side to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League in their debut season since Atalanta in 2019-20.

Five English teams have achieved that – Chelsea in 1999-00, Leeds in 2000-01, Liverpool in 2001-02, Spurs in 2010-11 and Leicester in 2016-17.

Paris St-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was the hero against Liverpool last night.

Italy's Gianluigi Donnarumma has now won six of the seven penalty shootouts he has taken part in for club and country.

Donnarumma saved two penalties against Liverpool last night - as he did against England in the Euro 2020 final.

In his whole career, including matches and shootouts, he has saved 24/103.

Arsenal v PSV Eindhoven (20:00 GMT, agg 7-1)

PSV’s 7-1 loss to Arsenal in the first leg was their joint biggest margin of defeat in a European match, equalling their 6-0 reverse to St Etienne in the Uefa Cup in November 1979.

In the European Cup, the last side to lose the first leg by six or more goals and win the second leg was Omonia Nicosia in 1979-80 vs Ajax (first leg 0-10, second leg 4-0), the second leg of which was played the same day as PSV suffered their 6-0 defeat to St Etienne.

Arsenal's biggest aggregate victory in major European competition is 10-0 vs Standard Liege in the 1993-94 Cup Winners' Cup, which is the last time any English team won by 10 or more goals on aggregate in any major European competition. In the European Cup, the last English team to do so was Leeds United vs Lyn in 1969-70 (16-0).

Marco Asensio, every time I see him I end up purring. This is a footballer, just a pure footballer. He's so good on the ball. His ability to score goals and create opportunities is magnificent.

Add to that Marcus Rashford coming into the mix as well, plus the players we've got, and we've got a lot of injured players getting fitter, the whole thing is looking very, very good going into the end of the season.

Tonight we have to make sure we do it properly with Asensio coming back into the side, we've got goals in our locker anyway but with Rashford and Asensio we have goals.

After many years of looking mediocre, to say the least, we are looking on the up.

Both Villa and Arsenal look pretty sure of making the quarter finals however I think for both it will end there and England will have no teams by the semi final stage. I'm going for PSG/ Barcelona final

Arsenal demolished PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands to take a commanding lead into the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

The Gunners scored three goals in the first half and four goals in the second to all but confirm their place in the quarter-finals of the competition, with a trip to Madrid on the horizon. Ismael Saibari hit the crossbar early on for the home side but Arsenal took control after Jurrien Timber scored Arsenal's opener in the 18th minute.

Ethan Nwaneri doubled Arsenal's lead just three minutes later when Myles Lewis-Skelly cleverly cut the ball back for the 17-year-old to powerfully score past Walter Benitez. Lewis-Skelly, who had already been booked, was fortunate to stay on the pitch shortly after when he fouled Ledezma, and Mikel Arteta replaced him with Riccardo Calafiori with 10 minutes of the first half left.

Mikel Merino added a third following a defensive mix-up before Noa Lang pulled one back from the penalty spot for PSV after Thomas Partey fouled Luuk De Jong.

Arsenal continued to attack with ease as soon as the second half started and Martin Odegaard made sure there was not going to be a PSV comeback when he scored from close range after Benitez pushed a cross out into the area.

Substitute Calafiori then combined well with Leandro Trossard who chipped the ball over Benitez from close range to score Arsenal's fifth just one minute later. Odegaard scored his second with an excellent individual effort before Calafiori grabbed a goal late on as Arsenal registered their record away win in the Champions League.

Aston Villa v Club Brugge (20:00 GMT, agg 3-1)

    Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport football news reporter at Villa Park

It was still quiet outside Villa Park three hours before kick-off. The half-and-half scarf sellers and pin badges stalls were still being set up while those who had arrived early for hospitality hung around waiting for the stadium to open.

That is going to be in stark contrast to how the scenes will be at kick off as Aston Villa aim to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.

Boasting a 3-1 advantage following last week's first-leg victory at Club Brugge, Unai Emery knows former side Paris St-Germain await in the last eight after their penalty victory over Liverpool on Tuesday.

Emery remains wary of Brugge, despite their lead, having scored twice in the final eight minutes through Brandon Mechele's own goal and Marco Asensio's penalty in Belgium.

He said at his news conference on Tuesday: "We won there but we won in the last minutes with two actions that we had. That's football, but the respect is massive. The respect of them is massive."

Serhou Guirassy - a man with a modest career until two years ago - finds himself near the top of the Champions League goalscoring charts.

The Borussia Dortmund striker, who turns 29 today, has relegations from the German and French top tiers on his CV - and had never hit a 15-goal season until last season.

His six transfers in a journeyman, often injury-hit, career have cost a combined £45m.

But now the Guinea international is the Champions League's joint-second top scorer, with 10 goals. Today's opponents Lille once moved him on after just six months.

BBC Sport looks at the remarkable rise of Guirassy - who has been linked with a host of British clubs throughout his career.

The Premier League is still likely to get a fifth Champions League spot despite Liverpool's exit yesterday.

It all depends on how English teams do in Europe this season.

Before yesterday Opta said it had more than a 99.9% chance of happening - so it won't be affected much by one defeat.

Aston Villa are favourites to go through today while Arsenal are practically into the next round.
