  1. End of the road for Ipswich?published at 14:53 British Summer Time 26 April

Is the end near for Ipswich Town?

Kieran McKenna's team will confirm their instant return to the Championship today if they fail to win at Newcastle and 17th-placed West Ham avoid defeat at Brighton.

"(We are) in a project that has been an incredible journey - the project here is to try and build a sustainable Premier League football club," said McKenna on Friday.

"It looks like we are going to take a step back this year, but that is often how progression needs to happen.

"We are all focused on making the best of the next few games and then tackling the next challenge, whatever it will be next season."

  2. Palmer continues to strugglepublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 26 April

    FT: Chelsea 1-0 Everton

The one concern for Chelsea is that forward Cole Palmer has gone from their best player to arguably their worst.

Today, against Everton, he was outshone by all of his other attacking colleagues, from Nicolas Jackson to Noni Madueke.

His goal drought now stands at a huge 17 matches and it simply appears that he is massively struggling to get himself going.

  3. Potter back at the Amexpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 26 April

Brighton v West Ham (15:00 BST)

    Chris Wise
BBC Final Score reporter at Amex stadium

I’ve just been watching West Ham’s manager Graham Potter scanning his team’s warm up.

It’s only the second time he’s been back at the Amex since he left Brighton, and it surely can’t go as badly for him as it did when he returned for the first time with Chelsea. His team lost 4-1, and it’s fair to say the Brighton fans let him know they were aware of his presence!

I don’t think the reception for him today will be anywhere near as hostile. Brighton’s supporters are far more concerned with their own team’s performances at the moment.

  4. Will Saints surpass Derby's unwanted record?published at 14:50 British Summer Time 26 April

    Southampton v Fulham (15:00 BST)

Lesley Ugochukwu's stoppage-time equaliser at West Ham was celebrated with added gusto by Southampton fans last week.

The Saints may already be relegated but the prospect of claiming the unwanted record for the least points in a Premier League season remained.

However, Ugochukwu's strike ensured they avoided taking that record outright as they earned their 11th point to move level with the Derby side of 2007-08.

One point in the next five games is all they need to keep their names out of the record books and there will be some trepidation until they get it.

They face Fulham today hoping for a first home league win since 2 November.

  5. 'I expected more from Ipswich this season'published at 14:49 British Summer Time 26 April

    Ashley Williams
Former Wales defender on Final Score

I expected more from Ipswich this season, for how highly thought of Kieran McKenna is and what they have done to get into the Premier League, but it is tough to get promoted.

What bothers me about them is that they are very easy to play against. They are easy to score against, they play very open and are always trying to play out from the back.

They often find themselves behind in games and trying to get a goal.

Brighton are in desperate need of a win.

The Seagulls' form has taken a hit over the last couple of months as they've gone five games without a victory - last claiming three points on 8 March when they beat Fulham 2-1.

However, Fabian Hurzeler's side sit 10th in the table and remain firmly in the battle for European football next season, with only one point separating them and eighth-placed Bournemouth.

    Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia to BBC Match of the Day: "I had a lot of fun today being back in the team and helping to get a big win. Everton improved in the second half, but that is football. Everyone has their good times".

On Nicolas Jackson's goal being his first from outside the area: "He may not have done it in the Premier League, but I have seen him do it loads in training so I am not surprised. I am really happy for him".

    Wolves v Leicester (15:00 BST)

    Nick Mashiter
BBC Sport football news reporter at Molineux

When Wolves lost 2-1 to Fulham at the end of February they were just five points above Leicester.

Fastforward and the hosts are unbeaten in their last six games - winning their previous five - and 20 points above the relegated Foxes.

It marks the impact Vitor Pereira has made at Molineux with Wolves now safe and above Tottenham and West Ham - having won just two of their opening 16 games under former boss Gary O'Neil.

    Everton

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to TNT Sports: "The first half we weren't good, it was a mistake from Beto for the goal. In second half we dominated as Chelsea sat in and took the 1-0. Robert Sanchez made a few good saves so credit to him. We just need to be better in the final third.

"We weren't far off it but that's the Premier League, you get punished."

A memorable victory at Manchester United last weekend officially secured Wolves' place in the Premier League next season.

In truth, they have been safe for weeks and Vitor Pereira's side are the form team in the top flight.

The win at Old Trafford was their fifth in a row in the league - the first time they have won five consecutive top-flight matches since 1970-71.

They made it six in a row that year and with already-relegated Leicester the visitors to Molineux this afternoon, Wolves will be confident matching that run.

Former Manchester City and Newcastle goalkeeper on Final Score

It is a big win for Chelsea. That three points is massive and keeps them right in the mix.

We all think the title race is over, the relegation race is all but over but the Champions League race is on.

  14. Crowd buzzing to see Howe backpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 26 April

    Newcastle v Ipswich (15:00 BST)

    John Bennett
BBC Final Score reporter at St James' Park

The fans here are buzzing to see Eddie Howe back in the dugout out. He says he’s still not feeling 100% but the roar of the St James’s Park crowd will surely do wonders for him.

In the match programme Howe thanks the supporters for their messages, saying they all meant a lot to him and his family.

Meanwhile, I spoke to Ipswich defender Luke Woolfenden pre-match and he says their motivation is to give their fans something to cheer in this game on what’s expected to be tough day with their relegation likely to be confirmed.

Howe on the 'road to recovery' after illness

Eddie Howe will be back on the sidelines for Newcastle today after missing the Magpies' last three fixtures with pneumonia.

The 47-year-old was admitted to hospital on 11 April having felt unwell for a number of days, but he returned to work on Thursday.

"I'm not 100% in my body but I like to think I'm close to 100% in my mind, which is the most important thing," Howe said on Friday.

"I've been through a range of emotions but I feel like I'm on the road to recovery."

Assistant manager Jason Tindall and fellow coach Graeme Jones oversaw two wins and one defeat in the Premier League in Howe's absence.

It was not a vintage game, but Chelsea probably deserved the points as they created the better chances.

Sitting fourth now with that win is psychologically massive for Chelsea and puts them in a good position for the run in.

When you see a group of players celebrating like that you know it's been a tough afternoon.

Everton to their credit came here and made it very, very difficult and had their chances at the end, but it's a good win for Chelsea.
