  1. Will Swans' unwanted October run continue?published at 14:53 British Summer Time 26 October

    Swansea v Millwall (15:00 BST)

Swansea host Millwall looking to end a run of four games without a goal.

The Swans are the league's lowest scorers with eight goals - and three of those came on the same day in a 3-0 win over Preston more than two months ago.

Since then, they have scored just five times in 10 Championship matches - and are yet to find the net in October.

But a steely defence has ensured they have earned three draws in their last five, and also kept them in a positive goal difference (+1).

Millwall's 1-0 win against Plymouth in midweek lifted the Lions away from the drop zone and up to 13th, one place above Swansea.

Neil Harris's side have picked up just three of their 13 points away from home.

  2. All going swimmingly for Black Catspublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 26 October

    Sunderland v Oxford (15:00 BST)

    Andy Sixsmith
    Final Score reporter

You’d have had long odds on Sunderland being top of the Championship as we turn towards November.

But thanks to brilliant boss Regis Le Bris and scoring more than Manchester City, that’s exactly where the Black Cats are.

Ahead of today’s clash with draw specialists Oxford, some fans are talking up the Premier League, but others like the bloke I was speaking to are more cautious:

“If we’re top come May, I’ll swim the length of the River Wear.” You heard it here first.

    Sunderland 0-0 Oxford

Sunderland continued their superb start to the season with a battling 2-1 win at Luton on Wednesday to return to the top of the Championship.

Leeds' earlier 0-0 draw at Bristol City means that, depending on other results, the Black Cats could end the day five points clear at the summit.

The omens are stacked in the Black Cats' favour for this one, with Oxford yet to win away from the Kassam Stadium this season and beaten 7-0 the last time they played a second tier game at the Stadium of Light, albeit that was in September 1998.

  4. Preston visit Plymouth in search of first away winpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 26 October

    Plymouth v Preston (15:00 BST)

Plymouth manager Wayne RooneyImage source, Rex Features

Plymouth have struggled somewhat since the international break with a 5-0 humbling away at fellow relegation battlers Cardiff last weekend and a 1-0 defeat at Millwall on Wednesday night.

Argyle have drawn a blank in three of their last four games and Wayne Rooney admitted they “didn’t create anywhere near enough” at The Den in midweek.

But if there’s something for the Pilgrims to hang their hat on, it’s their form at Home Park where they’ve lost just once and have now won three on the bounce - two of which came via dramatic late winners against Sunderland and Blackburn.

Preston arrive in the south-west having recovered from a poor start to the season with just one defeat in their last seven (W2, D4), which has lifted them up to 16th.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side are winless on the road and in-fact haven’t picked up an away victory for 10 games in a run stretching back to last season. Their last away win, though? A 1-0 success over Plymouth in March.

  5. Hull look to hit high notes at fortress Pride Parkpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 26 October

Derby v Hull City (15:00 BST)

Derby's positive start to life back in the second tier has been under-pinned by their excellent home form.

The Rams have won 10 of their past 11 league matches in front of their own fans and will look to make it 11 from 12 against a side they have a good recent record against.

The East Midlanders have beaten the side from East Yorkshire in eight of the past 10 match ups.

Tim Walter's men claimed a creditable draw against promotion-chasing Burnley on Wednesday but the result ultimately played second fiddle (pun only half-intended) to a row about the use of goal music at the MKM Stadium.

Sheffield United will pay an emotional tribute to their beloved right-back George Baldock who died earlier this month.

As well as wreaths laid, and a huge banner on The Kop, they will play David Bowie’s Star Man, the song that defined him on the terraces among Blades fans.

It will be an emotional day at Bramall Lane as Sheffield United remember former defender George Baldock who died earlier this month at the age of 31.

Baldock made 205 league appearances for the Blades and twice helped them win promotion to the Premier League.

United have asked all home fans to be in their seats for 14:45 BST with a pre-match tribute to start at 14:50 BST.

  8. High-flying Clarets host faltering Hoopspublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 26 October

    Burnley v QPR (15:00 BST)

Josh Brownhill celebrates after Burnley beat PortsmouthImage source, Getty Images

A team unbeaten in the league since August faces a side without a win since August as Burnley host QPR at Turf Moor.

The Clarets' strong start under Scott Parker has propelled them to second in the table behind Sunderland - and a win today could put them top of the tree after 12 games depending on the result at the Stadium of Light.

The Hoops are on a miserable run that has seen them pick up just two points in their past six matches.

Five of their eight points have been won away from home, including their only league win of the season away at Luton, and they come into the game having ended a four-match losing run in a 1-1 draw with Coventry at Loftus Road on Tuesday.

Burnley hold a formidable record against teams from London in the Championship, losing only one of their last 21 matches (won 16, drawn four) against clubs from the capital. But that defeat came against The R's in April 2023.

  9. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 26 October

    FT: Coventry 3-2 Luton

On first look there appeared to be more of a hint of offside to Haji Wright's winning goal.

But Alfie Doughty out on the left looks to be playing Joel Latibeaudiere on as he comes back from pressing the corner taker Jack Rudoni.

Perhaps that will feel slightly (just slightly) less painful for Hatters fans and, to be fair, Coventry were excellent in that second half.

It's over and Watford take all three points.

Edo Kayembe's penalty in the 71st minute after Ryan Hedges was adjudged to have handled the ball is the difference.

The Hornets extend their impressive unbeaten run on home soil to 10 games stretching back to last season, with five wins from six already in this campaign.

Blackburn stay sixth, while Tom Cleverley's side are up to seventh and level on points with Rovers ahead of this afternoon's games.

A big result in the promotion chase.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 26 October

    Watford 1-0 Blackburn

A great bit of skill by Watford's Vakoun Bayo as he flicks the ball over Dominic Hyam who pulls him to the ground. Yellow card for Hyam.

    Coventry 3-2 Luton

The Sky Blues complete a memorable comeback.

Despite dominating for long periods Coventry found themselves trailling 2-0 after a Carlton Morris penalty and a fine finish from Elijah Adebayo.

But Mark Robins threw on Jack Rudoni at half-time in an inspired change and goals from Ellis Simms, Victor Torp got the score back to 2-2.

Luton had Tom Holmes sent off in added time and moments later the comeback was complete as Haji Wright prodded the ball home.

    Time running out for Luton.

    Coventry 3-2 Luton

    Simon Oxley

Rob Edwards cuts a desperately disappointed figure as Coventry clawed this one back.

This is a desperately disappointing defeat, I just can't see Luton getting anything now.

    Coventry 3-2 Luton

    Ged Scott

Who really saw this coming at half-time?

In truth, Coventry City were playing well enough - but they have simply believed in themselves and their luck has turned.

They have waited 17 months to get their revenge on Luton. Now will this be the catalyst for Mark Robins and his men?

  19. Postpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 26 October

    Watford 1-0 Blackburn

This is frustrating for Blackburn... Danny Batth picks up the ball about 35 yards out and he's got a few options but chooses to have a go.

His effort flies into the travelling supporters behind the goal in the Vicarage Road stand and they're not overly impressed with that one.

    Bristol City 0-0 Leeds

Dan James of Leeds United bumps into Max O'Leary the Bristol City goalkeeperImage source, Rex Features

Both of these teams remain unbeaten since 14 September after a largely uneventful 90 minutes at Ashton Gate.

It was a really emotional start to the game with a lovely tribute to Theo Manning, Bristol City boss Liam Manning's baby son who died earlier this month.

Liam Manning returned to the sideline for the first time since his son's death and he will have been proud with the diligence his side showed in limiting promotion-chasing Leeds.

Dan James saw a shot well saved by Max O'Leary in the first half and Willy Gnonto had a goal-bound effort cleared off the line by Max Vyner in the second.

The Whites move up to second.
