  2. 'Chiesa unfortunately has Salah in front of him'published at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Federico Chiesa: "Federico has been a few times unlucky because when there were moments he could play, he was ill or sick. It's very difficult to bring a player out for five-six weeks, to bring them back to playing 60-90 minutes.

"There is no winter break and time to give them a game during the week, unless I want to give them a game with the under-21s. I don't think players like Federico and Diogo Jota should be playing in those games.

"Unfortunately for Federico, he also has Mohamed Salah in front of him. It makes it hard for us to build him up in the right way but I am happy he had some good minutes against Accrington Stanley."

  3. 'Nunez in a good place now'published at 16:08 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on giving Darwin Nunez a longer run of games: "I don't think it's the first time he is in a situation like this. Even this season, he's been in such a situation when Diogo Jota was out for five-six weeks. He has had a long run of games with Jurgen Klopp as well.

"He is in a good place now because he has scored two. At the moment, we have four attackers who are top fit and ready to start. Darwin is one of them.

"Of course, it increases the chance for Darwin to get more playing time if one of them is injured and especially if it's a number nine."

  4. 'Jota and Gomez back in weeks, not months'published at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on fitness of Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez: "Maybe Diogo a bit earlier than Joe. Both are expected to be back with us in weeks, not in months.

"I've said many times before that the last stage of rehab is the most difficult and could add a few days or not. But we are expecting them to be with us in the upcoming weeks. Both of them are not going to be out for months, as far as the rehab goes well."

On how Jota sustained injury: "He overloaded a certain muscle a bit."

  5. 'We always play for the win'published at 16:01 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on maintaining their 100% record: "We want to keep it going to the end, and win every single game. We just want to add top eight. We know we need a point for that. But this team has never gone out playing for a point.

"Every single game we have played, be it at Old Trafford or Arsenal, we have not changed our style. That's what we want to do tomorrow again. We always play for the win."

  6. 'I am expecting an open game'published at 15:58 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on what to expect from Lille: "Looking at how they have played in their last games, I'm expecting an open game.

"They've pressed every team they have played. They've pressed them high. It's going to be a change of style compared to the teams we have faced recently. So that is what I expect from the last few teams we have faced, but they changed their game plan for us."

  7. 'We are scoring more but conceding a few as well'published at 15:56 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on improvement in attacking output: "Our performance stats in terms of running have increased, especially in the Brentford game. It was a tough game because they are fit as well.

"You tell me our attacking stats have gone up, probably true. We have scored more in the last eight-nine games. We've conceded a few too so we've needed these goals more than in the beginning of the season. I can't come up why it has changed but we are working together and know even better what we want with the ball."

  8. Konate speaking...published at 15:55 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

  9. 'Lille have deserved every single point'published at 15:53 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Lille: "I am not surprised but impressed. I was impressed by their manager Bruno Genesio at Rennes, at the way his team played. I saw they beat Atletico, surprise and Real, surprise but now I've seen many games of them and I'm not surprised. They've deserved every single point.

"It's not because they have faced easy competition. They've faced Sporting when Ruben Amorim was still there. They have faced Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and now they're facing us and then my former club Feyenoord. So they haven't been lucky with the fixtures and that's the reason I'm so impressed."

  10. 'Impossible to say how good teams are due to strange format'published at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on finishing top of the Champions League league phase: "The most important, when we go out there we want to win a game. With this new setup, you think ending number one is the best position to end up but because it's such a strange league table, because every week, I think even if you face team lower down the table, they are the hardest team to face and if you finish number one you could face them.

"I'm not thinking at the league table in a way that if you finish number one you get the easiest team because being on top doesn't tell you you're the best team. It's impossible to say because of the strange format we have."

  11. Jota and Gomez updatepublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot says both Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez are expected to be back in "weeks not months".

Jota, who he said has overloaded a certain muscle, is expected to be back "a bit earlier than Joe".

  12. 'Nunez needs to take the next step'published at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Darwin Nunez: "The most difficult thing in football is to find consistency. Only a few players in the world are able to be on the same level all the time. Then there are players who are able to play at the top level many times, but not all the time.

"In Darwin Nunez, we have a player who is good many, many times. But the next step for him will be to go into that group of seven or eight players in the world who can perform at that standard every three days."

  13. 'Far too early to say these things'published at 15:39 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on Thomas Frank's comments that the Reds are the best team in the world: "His opinion means something to me because he has shown at Brentford how well he has done for so many years without spending crazy amounts of money. Every time he is able to perform with his teams and makes it so hard for top six teams to play against.

"But I think it's far too early to say these things. The Champions League format is different. We have to face a lot of teams. Can we judge the league table in the Champions League? Very difficult to judge. But it's always nice to get compliments from a manger who has proved himself in the Premier League."

  14. 'Far too early' to say they're the best in the worldpublished at 15:35 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January

Liverpool v Lille (Tue, 20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is hopeful Matheus Cunha can be fit for their game at Chelsea after the Brazilian missed training due to "flu-like symptoms."

Cunha and Nelson Semedo had only returned from injury lay-offs as substitutes in their 3-0 defeat to Newcastle on Wednesday.

Cunha has scored 10 goals for Wolves this season, netting in wins against Leicester City and Manchester United in December.

Midfielder Mario Lemina is available after apologising to the Wolves boss for asking to be left out of the squad in the midweek.

Defender Toti Gomes is unavailable after the hamstring injury sustained last month, but Pereira confirmed he is set to return next week.

Cole Palmer remains a doubt for Chelsea after their top scorer missed Friday's training due to a knock picked up during their 2-2 draw against Bournemouth.

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said that Palmer did not train after he "had a kick in the ankle in the first half" of Tuesday's game at Stamford Bridge.

Levi Colwill, Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez are also doubts for the visit of Wolves.

Reece James, who scored the late equaliser against the Cherries, is set to earn more minutes on his return from injury while Trevoh Chalobah, recalled from his loan spell at Crystal Palace, could also feature for the home side.

Enzo Maresca's Chelsea will hope to end a five-match winless run and return to the Premier League top four as Wolves visit Stamford Bridge tonight.

A dreadful run of results in recent weeks has seen the Blues go from being considered title challengers to finding themselves among the pack fighting for a place in Europe.

But Wolves will be as good an opposition as any for the hosts to try and snap their unwanted streak, with the visitors having shipped three goals each against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle in their most recent outings.

Vitor Pereira’s side are 17th and level on points with Ipswich Town below them as they battle to avoid relegation.
