Forest Green were knocked off the top of the National League as they were forced to settle for a goalless draw at Braintree.

Braintree went close to taking a first-half lead when Lewis Walker shot over, before goalkeeper Mason Terry saved from Laurent Mendy at the other end.

John Akinde volleyed wide for Braintree after the break but Terry was called into action again to deny Kyle McAllister and Kairo Mitchell.

Mendy went close again with a header from a corner late on but his effort went over, with the result allowing Rochdale to take top spot.
