    Elliot Anderson has been brilliant.

He is an all round midfielder, he can break up play, he reads the game so well, he breaks forward, he has that quality in possession.

He has that position - there is going to be competition for places. He has performed well for Nottingham Forest.

He is that leader in there, he is the one that stands up. There have been players that have underperformed for Forest, but he is one player that has been on it.

He can do that defensive work, but he can provide things going forward. He has been outstanding.

In Farke we trust, but the faith is wearing thin! Seems to have no plan B and our attack is non-existent.

Farke is not up to it,. He should go back to Norwich.

Whatever happens today Nottingham Forest will remain second bottom and in the relegation zone with West Ham and Wolves.

    A Nuno Espirito Santo sandwich.

Sean Dyche could really do with his first Premier League win as Forest manager today and try to get the mood lifted a bit.

There has been no magic touch since his arrival a few weeks ago.

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

With Lewis Cook and Elliot Anderson I was watching them with England's under-21s in the summer.

I love the fact that within a few months they're playing week in and week out in the Premier League and to have the chance to be called-up the full international team.

Thomas Tuchel will see him [Cook] for that younger side, play with his club side and see a future with the group.

When I was younger the 21s and full national side was two completely different things. They might as well have been two different sports. The connection wasn't really there. Whereas now you can see for players it is a pathway.

When you get a chance to see them play in those tournaments you get to see their talent.

What was the point of Harvey Elliott going to Villa if he wasn’t going to get any game time? A waste of time.

    Adz

Do not understand this Harvey Elliot situation. He was considered one of the shrewd signings of the summer when Aston Villa had little to no money, yet Unai seems to be forcing him back. Maybe we just can't afford him if we trigger the clause?

Emiliano Martínez’s error led to Liverpool’s opening goal last time out – since the 2020-21 campaign when he joined Aston Villa, only three players have made more errors leading to Premier League goals than the Argentine (7).

  12. Forest desperate for pointspublished at 13:52 GMT

    Nott'm Forest v Leeds (14:00 GMT)

Nottingham Forest have not won a league match since beating Brentford on the opening weekend.

Dyche earned his first Premier League point since taking charge in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Manchester United and said the performance was a "marked improvement", particularly in the second half.

But Forest were caught out twice from corners (the first awarded controversially), taking their total number of goals conceded from set-pieces to nine – a joint-league high prior to the latest round of fixtures.

Dyche will have to get his new side better organised defensively if they are to move away from the relegation zone.

Forest have not kept a clean sheet in the Premier League since beating United on 1 April, and their run of 18 consecutive games without a shut-out is the longest by a current top-flight club.

A huge round of applause, a standing ovation, for Nottingham Forest fan Stephen Crean, who is at the game today.

In the train stabbing last week he confronted the attacker who was holding a large knife to give others time to escape.

He was stabbed on his hand, back and head.

  14. Brighton aiming to avoid more Palace miserypublished at 13:50 GMT

Crystal Palace v Brighton (14:00 GMT)

Crystal Palace and Brighton rank in the Premier League top five this season for shots on target and big chances scored, only trailing clubs with vastly superior resources.

The Eagles beat Brighton home and away last season, with the latter encounter at Selhurst Park in April ending with three red cards: two for Palace and one for Albion.

But Brighton haven't suffered consecutive away defeats in this fixture since the 1985-86 and 1986-87 seasons. Current head coach Fabian Hurzeler said he understood the importance of games against Crystal Palace "from the first second" when he attended a 1-1 draw between the sides two seasons ago.

He believes his Brighton team started too passively in both fixtures last season and added: "You can't promise wins but you can promise that you will leave your heart on the pitch. That is what we try to do on Sunday."

  15. Is Brighton's young squad a problem?published at 13:49 GMT

Crystal Palace v Brighton (14:00 GMT)

    Julien Laurens
European football expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Fabian Hurzeler is doing a great job, but maybe he knows they could be doing better. This is a team who have conceded a goal in almost every Premier League game this season. If you look at that, you can't be happy.

He has three very experienced players [Welbeck, Dunk and Milner], everybody else is below 23 apart from van Hecke who is 25. Maybe he thinks Brighton are capable of doing better but the youth is sometimes a problem for that.

Brentford striker Igor Thiago is responsible for six Premier League strikes for Brentford this season, with three of those coming in his past three top-flight home appearances.

Brentford's Brazilian top scorer has commanded a lot of attention for his recent performances, but Kevin Schade's excellent form also hasn't gone unnoticed and he has earned a recall to Germany's squad for the forthcoming international break. His last cap came more than a year ago.

Both of Schade's league goals this season have come at the Gtech Community Stadium and he scored in Brentford's last home fixture – a 3-2 win over defending champions Liverpool.

It is no coincidence that Newcastle United's back four have been tested in the air by assistant manager Jason Tindall during the warm-up.

How they deal with Brentford's set-play threat will be key to the visitors' chances of getting a result today.

  18. Leeds' patchy away formpublished at 13:44 GMT

    Nott'm Forest v Leeds (14:00 GMT)

A Leeds win would send them eight points clear of their opponents but Daniel Farke's side have struggled away from home this season and were well beaten at Brighton last weekend.

Farke conceded the Seagulls deserved their 3-0 victory, acknowledging "it was not our best game offensively" whilst adding "it happens sometimes that the attack doesn't have the best of days".

The problem for Farke is those bad days have been regular occurrences away from Elland Road.

The Whites have conceded the opening goal in all five of their top-flight matches on the road this season, failing to score in all but one of those fixtures.

The three away goals they have netted all came in a 15-minute flurry immediately before half-time in September's 3-1 win at Wolves, when they scored with three consecutive shots.

Aside from that purple patch at Molineux, their other 40 attempts on the road have all been unsuccessful.

  19. 'Newcastle's lack of away form concern for Howe'published at 13:42 GMT

    Brentford v Newcastle (14:00 GMT)

Chris Sutton predictions graphicImage source, BBC Sport

I didn't recognise Newcastle when I watched them lose at West Ham last weekend.

They were better when they beat Athletic Club at St James' Park in the Champions League in midweek, but their away form - or lack of it - must be a concern for boss Eddie Howe.

They are still solid defensively most of the time but scoring goals seems a particular problem for them when they are on the road. I can see why from watching that West Ham game because they just did not work the goalkeeper enough.

The way Brentford play under Keith Andrews, he is happy to set them up to play on the counter-attack even when they are at home, and I can see Newcastle struggling to break them down too.

I know I have gone for a few draws already this week, but this game smells of another one to me.

    Sutton's prediction: 0-0

  20. Newcastle's struggles on the roadpublished at 13:40 GMT

    Brentford v Newcastle (14:00 GMT)

Newcastle's only away win this season was an emphatic one in the Champions League against Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise.

Their impressive 4-0 victory in Brussels at the start of October appeared a turning point, but they have lost at both Brighton and West Ham in the league since.

Defeat on Sunday would be the first time they have suffered three successive away losses in the top flight since a run of five between November 2023 and January 2024.

"For whatever reason we have not been winning the games away from home that we should have," said Howe. "Now we're sort of caught in that trap where it's becoming a topic of conversation and we're probably becoming more aware of it."

The Magpies are in fact winless in their past eight away Premier League matches (D4, L4) – a run dating back seven months – and they've failed to score more than once in any of those fixtures.
