    Arsenal take the lead!

It's an excellent bit of footwork from Beth Mead and an excellent finish to match.

Frida Maanum picks her out on the far side of the Brighton box and the England forward cuts inside before shifting the ball to her left foot and curling an effort off the far post and past Sophia Baggaley.

Hayley Raso says that she was "open" to moving anywhere after leaving Spanish club Real Madrid in the summer, but after a conversation with Tottenham manager Robert Vilahamn she had no doubts about joining the club.

Speaking to BBC London, she said: "I really liked what they had to say, how they spoke to me, and how they saw me fitting into the team.

"After speaking with them, it was an easy decision to come here. I feel very supported, and I’ve got a lot of confidence being here. It was a great decision."

The 30-year-old scored on her Spurs debut against Crystal Palace but has since suffered a hamstring injury.

Having previously played for Manchester City, Raso is in line to return to action against her former club on Friday.

    Arsenal 0-0 Brighton

Katie McCabe has been involved with nearly all of Arsenal's moves forward.

They charge up the pitch once again and look to beat Brighton on the counter, but this time her cross isn't met by anybody in the middle.

    This is better from Arsenal.

They work their way into the box once again and it's Katie McCabe who's charging into the box, but Madison Haley produces a great bit of defending to slide in with a late tackle and snatch the ball from her feet.

Tottenham boss Robert Vilahamn had high praise for Man City's Khadija Shaw ahead of the side's meeting on Friday, calling the forward "one of the best number nines in the world."

"She's probably the best nine in the league and she's probably one of the best nines in the world, said Vilahamn.

Tottenham know all too well about Shaw's strengths having conceded 9 goals in 5 meetings with the forward, including two hat-tricks.

However Vilahamn says he has a plan to combat the forward this time around.

He added: "You need to defend with a lot of players around her because she's so strong, so powerful, but we have done it before. We're going to really go for it and make sure we try to close her down."

It's Arsenal who have the first effort on goal, though.

A neat move sees the ball go out to Katie McCabe on the left-hand side, who spins a cross into the middle of the area.

She just about finds Beth Mead, but the England forward can't get a clean header away and it's a comfortable save.

    Etihad Stadium before kick-off

It's a very chilly evening in Manchester as the players warm-up at the Etihad Stadium.

It's fairly quiet outside the ground and inside fans are just starting to take their seats.

We're expecting around 9,000 in here tonight which is below the numbers City have attracted previously in the main stadium.

It follows a trend of crowds decreasing across the board this season after a summer with no home nation representation at a major tournament at international level.

But those who are here will observe a minute's silence before kick-off to mark Remembrance Day.

Right, back to Arsenal v Brighton.

Brighton have started the season well, but their previous games against Arsenal don't make for the best reading.

They have lost all 12 of their previous meetings against the Gunners in the WSL by an aggregate score of 44-2, that includes defeats in all six of their away trips to north London.

They are, however, the form team heading into the game. They sit third in the table, four points clear of Arsenal in fifth.

Manchester City are back at the Etihad Stadium tonight, which manager Gareth Taylor says is "a bit unfamiliar".

They are one of the few clubs with a purpose-built stadium for the women's team and Joie Stadium has proved a fortress for City.

But Taylor hopes they can continue their success at the Etihad and in his match programme notes, he points to their unbeaten record at the stadium and this season.

"We're in great form and confidence is high," says Taylor.

"Spurs are a tough opponent though and always provide a real challenge. I'm confident the girls will get the job done."

Boss Gareth Taylor said Manchester City are in a "good moment" as they head into their first game of the season at Etihad Stadium.

Tonight's game against Tottenham is the first of three games at the men's stadium in 2024-25.

They will also play Manchester United there in January and Chelsea in March.

"It’s an exciting game for us," Taylor said. "We are in a good moment.

"As much as we really enjoy playing at the Joie Stadium because we have that familiarity, it’s always a good opportunity to expand on potentially getting more supporters into the stadium to be able to see us play."

City have only played three games in total at Etihad Stadium prior to this season and Taylor said it is a "step forward" to have more there this campaign.

"There is more need and want for it which is great. It was really difficult playing one game a season there because you lose a home advantage.

"If you play there more often it becomes more normal for the girls. We had an opportunity to train there today which is great."
