    Arsenal 0-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Shakhtar give the ball away deep in their own half and it's sloppy from the visitors. Kai Havertz looks to cut it back but it's blocked and out for a corner.

Leandro Trossard's delivery is cleared behind for another corner.

It drops for Riccardo Calafiori, who tries to fire into the roof of the net but blazes over the bar.

  2. 'Arteta has gone strong this evening'published at 20:06 British Summer Time 22 October

    Arsenal 0-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Arsenal want to finish in the top eight of the Champions League standings.

They'll want to get the job done as early as possible. They have missed Martin Odegaard, he links everything up and of course they've missed Bukayo Saka's goals and assists.

Strength in depth is maybe a worry, but Mikel Arteta has gone strong this evening.

  3. 'Excited to see how Duran does from the start'published at 20:06 British Summer Time 22 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bologna

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

When Jhon Duran comes on normally there is an element of tiredness and fatigue about the defenders he is coming up against. That won't be the case for him tonight with him starting. I'm excited to see how he does from the start.

  4. Postpublished at 20:06 British Summer Time 22 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bologna

It is going to be interesting to see what Jhon Duran can do from the start, having had a real impact off the bench this season. He has half a chance for Aston Villa with a shot on the turn, but it is blocked.

  5. 'A sighter of what Bologna can do'published at 20:04 British Summer Time 22 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bologna

    Ally McCoist
Former Rangers striker on TNT Sports

It was a great switch off play to Dan Ndoye, just over the head of Ezri Konsa. He doesn't take the perfect touch before laying it back and the shot is poor from the edge of the box. Just a little sighter of what Bologna can do.

  6. 'All about Arsenal's reaction'published at 20:03 British Summer Time 22 October

It will be all about Arsenal's reaction. It would've been so disappointing to go away to Bournemouth and to have that experience.

It's about picking yourselves up and not feeling sorry for yourself and I think you will see a reaction from Mikel Arteta's players this evening.

  7. Postpublished at 20:03 British Summer Time 22 October

    Aston Villa 0-0 Bologna

The Aston Villa fans are loud but Bologna supporters are also making plenty of noise. A fantastic Champions League night atmosphere as Dan Ndoye has the first shot of the game, but it is mis-hit and wide.

    Arsenal 0-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

    Alex Howell
BBC football news reporter at the Emirates Stadium

Gabriel Martinelli looked really sharp as he ran down the line there. A positive start for the winger.

  9. Postpublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 22 October

    Arsenal 0-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Arsenal on the front foot straight away as Gabriel Martinelli darts forward into the area and wins his side a corner.

An early goal would be a decent way to respond to defeat at the weekend but Declan Rice's awkward corner is dealt with.

We're under way in North London, Birmingham and across the continent.

  11. 'It is an art to come off the bench in the way Duran does'published at 19:58 British Summer Time 22 October

Aston Villa v Bologna (20:00 BST)

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on TNT Sports

I played with a not so disimilar player to Jhon Duran, who would come off the bench and impact games, and that was Ole Gunnar Soskjaer, Javier Hernandez too. They are wonderful footballers that you love having in and around the squad.

It is an art to be able to come off the bench and get adjusted to the pace of the game that quickly and be able to go in cold and hit the ground running. It will be interesting to see if Duran can do it from the start tonight.

A fantastic atmosphere as ever just before kick-off at Villa Park with fireworks and a large tifo of three lions dominating one end of the ground.

  13. Milan recover to take vital winpublished at 19:57 British Summer Time 22 October

FT: AC Milan 3-1 Club Brugge

    Tijjani ReijndersImage source, PA Media

Tijjani Reijnders scored two fine second-half goals as AC Milan recovered from a shoddy start to see off the 10 men of Club Brugge.

Milan - who needed the win after opening defeats to Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen - opened the scoring when former Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic saw his inswinging corner go straight in.

Refreee Felix Zwayer then sent off Raphael Onyedika for a high challenge on Reijnders after an intervention from the Video Assistant Referee to leave Brugge up against it.

The visitors equalised with a fine goal though. Substitute Kyriani Sabbe was the spare man at the end of a flowing move and drove into the far corner to become just the fourth teenager to score against Milan in the Champions League.

Reijnders scored two excellent finishes though to give Milan the points.

  14. Captains armband to lift Jesus?published at 19:56 British Summer Time 22 October

Arsenal v Shakhtar Donetsk (20:00 BST)

    Alex Howell
BBC football news reporter at the Emirates Stadium

Gabriel Jesus has the captains armband tonight. It could be a way for Mikel Arteta to try to get him firing and lift his confidence. He's only started three games so far this season.

  15. 'The wheels have not fallen off'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 22 October

Arsenal v Shakhtar Donetsk (20:00 BST)

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's about how Arsenal respond after the defeat at the weekend.

The wheels have certainly not fallen off, it was a minor blip. You expect with how Shakhtar Donetsk have started their season, that Arsenal will take advantage.

  16. Postpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 22 October

Arsenal v Shakhtar Donetsk (20:00 BST)

Shakhtar Donetsk are one of only four teams yet to score in the UEFA Champions League this season, while the Ukrainian side rank last in the competition for total shots (10, level with Lille) and shots on target (1) through their opening two matches.

Arsenal's discipline issues stem from the manager. Arteta is one of the Premier League's worst behaved manager's on the touchline so it's hardly surprising that he has difficulty in getting the team to maintain their discipline.

  18. 'Injuries and red cards a real problem'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 22 October

Arsenal v Shakhtar Donetsk (20:00 BST)

    Matthew Upson
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Jurrien Timber is a big miss for Arsenal. He was just showing he is a top full-back before the injury. His ability to change direction, how tight he gets to the opponents and his real sharp turn of pace are all very impressive.

The injury list is long at Arsenal and they've also had the red cards to deal with. That is going to make things really, really tough - no matter if you've got the right set-up, you are scoring goals or everyone is playing well.

We are not that many games in and they're already finding it difficult to juggle the matches and the squad. I look at their bench and there's a lot of young players in there, which is great in one way. But at the moment, Mikel Arteta can't be picky and this is a real problem for Arsenal so early in the season.

  19. Minamino scores two as Monaco thrash Red Starpublished at 19:51 British Summer Time 22 October

FT: Monaco 5-1 Red Star Belgrade

Monaco midfielder Takumi Minamino scored twice as his side continued their bright start to this season's Champions League league phase with a big victory over winless Red Star Belgrade.

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Minamino beat the offside trap to put his side ahead after 20 minutes, and netted his side's fourth in the 70th minute.

Adi Hutter's side, who beat Barcelona in their Champions League opener, have recorded two wins and one draw so far in this season's competition.

They also scored five goals in a Champions League match for the first time in almost 20 years, since a 5-0 away win at Deportivo La Coruna in December, 2004.

Red Star, who face Barcelona next, have lost all three of their league phase matches this season.

  20. 'We have a lot of sympathy for Shakhtar Donetsk'published at 19:49 British Summer Time 22 October

Arsenal v Shakhtar Donetsk (20:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Amazon Prime: "Every game is so tough. We had a great game here last time [in the Champions League] against PSG."

On the Bournemouth loss at the weekend: "We made the context difficult to ourselves, we have been good at responding to it, but at the weekend we weren't able to do it. It is another game and competition we are very excited for it [tonight]."

On Bukayo Saka's injury: "He wasn't feeling good and it wasn't good news."

On Saka being fit to face Liverpool: "At the moment I am not helpful, but let's see."

On Arsenal's red cards recently: "Three different scenarios. Discipline, I wouldn't say it was discipline in those [red cards] - they're reactions in less that a second. What I give them is perspective, we haven't lost a game in six months and you have another game after losing a game - it's how we react to that."

On Raheem Sterling playing a role this evening: "It depends on the performances, but it's good that we have options."

On Shakhtar Donetsk: "We have a lot of sympathy for them and for how they fight and adapt to the difficult situation they have. The club has to welcome them in the best possible manner."
