An interesting exchange, all friendly enough, to end the news conference between Mikel Arteta and a journalist.

After saying he had maybe "one or two" games all season where he was able to plan in advance and rotate, he spoke about Arsenal's defensive options.

The thing the Gunners boss was keen to get across every time was that Jurrien Timber was his only option at right-back or right centre-back.

That's all from the Arsenal manager - and it's nearly it from us for today, too.

One other piece of news to bring you is an update from Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, who has brushed aside rumours of a departure at the end of the season.

The five-time Champions League-winning coach, who is contracted to the club until 2026, said that he intended to stay for at least "four more years":

"I want to be very clear, the date of my departure from this club, I will never decide in my life. This day will arrive, but I don't know when. It's not up to me to decide. It can arrive tomorrow, in a few matches, in a year, in five years...

"Florentino (Pérez, the president of the club) will continue for four more years and my goal is to stay four more years at his side like that. We'll have a great send-off together."

  19. Celtic 'belong' in Champions League knockout rounds - Engelspublished at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

Celtic v Young Boys (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Arne EngelsImage source, Getty Images

Arne Engels says Celtic "belong" in the Champions League knockout stages as they look to secure a play-off spot with victory over Young Boys on Wednesday night.

Celtic have not played knockout football in the Champions League since 2012-13 when they lost to Italian giants Juventus in the last 16.

But a home victory over the pointless Swiss side would ensure a place in the play-off round and maintain hopes of an automatic place in the last 16, with a trip to Villa Park still to come in the final game.

"We are really ready as a squad and we also feel that we have qualities to make the difference," said Belgium midfielder Engels.

"We feel also, in big games against good teams, that we can do really well and that we can perform.

"So of course, as a team, we all feel that we belong to the knockouts and we will do everything to go there.

"But we will see after the game. It is now just focusing on the game and the job that we need to do and after Aston Villa, we can hopefully talk about it."

  20. Chance for Slot to rotate?published at 14:52 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January

    Liverpool v Lille (20:00 GMT)

Liverpool's Harvey Elliott, Darwin Nunez and Federico ChiesaImage source, Getty Images

Liverpool will be without injured pair Joe Gomez and Diogo Jota for tonight's match at Anfield.

Otherwise, though, Arne Slot has a full squad to choose from and, given the strength of their position in the competition, there is an argument that this could be an opportunity for the Dutchman to rotate.

Darwin Nunez will certainly be eager to start after his late match-winning double at Brentford, while Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa were also heavily involved in the goals after coming off the bench - might one or other of them be handed a rare start?

Nothing is certain yet, though, so don't be surprised if Slot goes as strong as he can and, if all goes well tonight, ring the changes away at PSV Eindhoven next week instead.
