  1. Time for Tony Watt?published at 15:06 British Summer Time 18 August

    HT: Motherwell 0-0 Kilmarnock

    Andy Burke
BBC Sport Scotland at Fir Park

How long until we see Tony Watt or fellow new signing Tawanda Maswanhise come off the bench for Motherwell?

The home side really have not offered much in an attacking sense and they will need to offer something a little bit different to breach this Kilmarnock back-line.

Derek McInnes will be fairly satisfied, but he too will want to see a bit more from his side in the final third.

  2. CLOSE!published at 15:06 British Summer Time 18 August

    Motherwell 0-0 Kilmarnock

    Finally, a shot on goal!

Ewan Wilson twists and turns on the edge of the box and unleashes a decent enough effort goalwards.

Kieran O'Hara should probably catch, but the Kilmarnock goalkeeper parries it round for a corner.

  3. GOAL Celtic 1-0 Hibernianpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 18 August

    Daizen Maeda

    Some start!

Hibs have lasted about a minute longer without conceding than they did last week against Celtic.

Nicolas Kuhn slides in Reo Hatate, who cuts the ball back neatly for Daizen Maeda to lift the ball over goalkeeper Josef Bursik.

Incisive stuff. Hibs have it all to do. Again.

  4. Postpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 18 August

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs make a really good start, with Martin Boyle instantly getting in behind the home defence.

They manage to get two throw-ins from Lewis Miller into the Celtic box and they cause problems.

But then Celtic scamper away on the break through Nicolas Kuhn, who is felled by Nathan Moriah-Welsh.

The Hibs midfielder is booked already.

  5. Good-sized crowd bucks the trendpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 18 August

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

    Kheredine Idessane
    BBC Scotland at Celtic Park

A very healthy crowd here in the East End of Glasgow. There are only a few empty seats.

There must be around 55,000 here given that there are 60,000 when it's properly full. This contrasts sharply with the fairly sparse attendances at the other ties over the weekend.

  6. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 18 August

We are also under way now at both Fir Park and Tannadice.

Still all to play for as the sides aim for the League Cup quarter-finals.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 18 August

    Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs get the game under way having never won at Celtic Park in the League Cup - or Scottish Cup.

They will have to upset the odds to change that statistic.

  8. Hibs need to be 'miles better' - Graypublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 18 August

    Celtic v Hibernian (15:00)

Hibernian head coach David Gray on Sportsound: "We just need to be miles better than we were last week. We need to be more aggressive and more physical.

"There's a slight tweak to the system as well in terms of getting more bodies up the pitch when we can and have more presence up there.

"It's a difficult place to come. It's a cup game and you saw some of the results yesterday. You need to come here with the belief of getting into the next round.

"We gave ourselves a mountain to climb by conceding so early on in the game last week. So it's going to be important to manage things properly."

  9. Kyogo rested amid shoulder issue - Rodgerspublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 18 August

    Celtic v Hibernian (15:00)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells Sportsound why Kyogo Furuhashi isn't being risked this afternoon.

"Clearly the shoulder he got injured last weekend," he says. "He doesn't feel 100%. Normally he's okay to go again.

"This is a problem he has managed from way back in Japan, so it's something we felt we didn't need to take the risk this weekend.

"He's been fantastic through pre-season, but especially now having Adam Idah back - who's not quite there in terms of fitness - but he'll be an option and we'll be able to bring him into the game.

"I observe training, I see how well they're working and that tells you the direction the team is going in. Now, after the confidence of last season and working together, they've come back and pre-season we've been really good.

"A lot of that has been down to the defensive attitude in our pressing and running, and giving everything to the principles we set. That sets the tone for the offensive rhythm."

  10. Two changes for Hibspublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 18 August

    Celtic v Hibernian (15:00)

David Gray makes two changes as he attempts to reverse last week's league defeat by Celtic.

Dylan Levitt and Rudi Molotnikov make way from midfield and Rocky Bushiri bolsters the defence to make it a back three.

Nathan Moriah-Welsh is added to the middle of the park as Hibs aim to get more legs in the team.

New midfield signing Hyeok-kyu Kwon can't play against his parent club.

  11. No Kyogo for Celticpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 18 August

    Celtic v Hibernian (15:00)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers makes just the one enforced change from last week's win at Easter Road.

Kyogo Furuhashi has lost his fitness battle and misses out altogether, with fellow Japan forward Daizen Maeda taking his place up top.

Adam Idah could make his long-awaited return after his permanent transfer from Norwich City was completed last week.

  12. HALF-TIME Dundee United 1-0 St Mirrenpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 18 August

Dundee United have the lead at the break thanks to Ross Graham's header, in a first-half that's been fairly even.

Neither have shown real quality at the top end of the park, but there's plenty of grit and fight out there.

St Mirren changed five after the European exploits and perhaps it's catching up with them. Plenty of recognisable names on the bench, though, should Stephen Robinson choose to use them.

  13. HALF-TIME Motherwell 0-0 Kilmarnockpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 18 August

Forty-five minutes of relatively little action.

Both teams trying to play the ball but neither showing anything in the final third.

Motherwell have swung countless balls into the box, but Zach Robinson has failed to connect with any.

Up the other end, Marley Watkins skewed an effort for the visitors.

  14. YELLOW CARD Stuart Findlay (Kilmarnock)published at 14:47 British Summer Time 18 August

    Motherwell 0-0 Kilmarnock

Cynical hack from Stuart Findlay out on the right and Motherwell have a free-kick in a decent position.

Andy Halliday's delivery, though, not so good...

  15. Danger signs for Buddiespublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 18 August

    Dundee United 1-0 St Mirren

    Steven Thompson
Former St Mirren striker on BBC Sportsound

There's not been much in the game. Dundee United have had the better chances. St Mirren are missing some key players and they have to make sure that losing in Europe and maybe today doesn't derail them.

  16. Good Lucapublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 18 August

    Dundee United 1-0 St Mirren

    Almost a second for United!

Kristijan Trapanovski slips in Will Ferry on the left, who pulls it back to Luca Stephenson and the on-loan Liverpool midfielder's shot is blocked by goalkeeper Ellery Balcombe's knees.

  17. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 18 August

    Motherwell 0-0 Kilmarnock

Bit of a melee in the box from a corner, with legs and limbs all over the shop.

Someone sends the ball in the direction of Kieran O'Hara's goal, but the Killie shotstopper smothers.

  18. Balcombe looking unusually uncertainpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 18 August

    Dundee United 1-0 St Mirren

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Tannadice

St Mirren looked to have found a gem in Ellery Balcombe in goal given some of his early displays. Today, he has looked a little uncertain at times.

He could have been helped out by his defence at the goal, but, equally, he could have dominated that area more effectively.

A big, big lift for the home side to get that opener.

  19. Postpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 18 August

    Motherwell 0-0 Kilmarnock

Dan Casey whips a dangerous ball in right in front of Kieran O'Hara's goal.

It's crying out for just a touch to take it past the Killie goalkeeper, but striker Zach Robinson can't stretch far enough.

  20. 'Should do better'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 18 August

    Dundee United 1-0 St Mirren

    Rory Loy
Former Dundee striker on BBC Sportsound

The goalkeeper probably should have done a bit better, but I think the player on the post has to be braver and deal with that.
