Newcastle midfielder Joelinton speaking to Sky Sports: "There is still a long way to go but the team is improving. A good performance away from home today, three points, two goals, clean sheet. Great mentality from the boys from start to finish to defend our goal and score two to win the game.

"We knew we were not playing in the way we wanted to play before, the intensity, the quality, scoring goals, but we just kept working hard every day on the training pitch with positivity. Then when you start to win and score goals the confidence comes back

"Belief is high. We started really well and scored the two goals, we could have scored more but didn't and then we lost a bit of control. At the end the most important is the three points and job done.

"[Alexander Isak] is amazing. It is so good to have him and to play alongside him because he is one of the best strikers in the world right now and I hope he continues scoring goals and playing amazing because it is good for us.

"I knew it was a goal, I headed the ball. Thank you God it was given. Very happy to score one more goal and help the team to win.

"Time will tell how good we are but we are enjoying football right now. We have to be humble and keep our feet on the ground because there is a long way to go."

What a month it has been for Alexander Isak - 11 goals in his last 11 games.

The Swedish striker has scored more Premier League goals in December than any other player (eight).

His goal tonight takes his total to 12 this season - level with Cole Palmer, and only behind Mohamed Salah (17) and Erling Haaland (14).

Chelsea

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella speaking to Sky Sports:

"We created a lot of chances. We conceded two easy goals and then we had to play a different game. We have to continue, we've played a lot of games and can take some positive things. People asked what we expected these first few months and no one expected this level. But we need to continue in this way. We've done well so far this season we need to continue to work hard and try to undo these small mistakes.

"Sometimes we have good luck sometimes not it's part of football but we have to take positives and watch and review clips where we can improve. When we win we are not the best but when we lose we are not the worst. We have to continue in this way and try to win the games.

"We conceded the early goal and we had to play more with passing and then the second one we lost our way a bit with mistakes. We need to play always in the same style and take our time but we rushed and made mistakes. In January we have time to improve, train hard and continue.

"We need to play with the same intensity and desire. Sometimes we rush and rush to win but I think we have done well this first six months. Maybe we have been better than people expected apart from the last two games."

Ipswich Town

Ipswich striker Liam Delap speaking to Sky Sports:

"We've worked so hard this season and it's not gone right. The performances have deserved a win and today we showed we are excellent and we defended well, attacked them well. We're buzzing."

On penalty: "I don't know what clipped me but something did. I just tried to get there before him [Filip Jorgensen] and he was coming out fast so I knew he'd touch me if I didn't get it round him.

"We've had three or four opportunities where we've not had the penalty we probably deserved so nice to get that one and put it in the back of the net. I've practiced them a million times so just aimed for the corner and put it there.

"I don't think it changes much. We've performed as well as that in other games this season but not got the result. Not finished our chances or conceded late. We just need to push on now and get more victories."

Ipswich forward Omari Hutchinson speaking to Sky Sports:

"It's good to write history and finally get the first win at home.

"Grateful for what Chelsea did in my career, gave me my debut, but I'm playing for Ipswich now and I want to score and help my team get three points and help us stay up."

On backflip celebration: "Everyone's been asking me to do it so I thought I would do it for the first home win."

On Delap: "He's a unit he is. Complete package but he's still finding himself and still learning and trying to become a top player so he's a good striker to play with.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton goalscorer Tariq Lamptey talking to the world feed: "We would have liked to have nicked it in the end but maybe it was a fair result.

On his goal: "It arrived on the edge of the box, it was great from Joao [Pedro] to spot me and it ended up in the back of the net. We have players on the bench who are ready and can come in at any time. When we are down, we have players who can come in and do that.

On the penalty for Villa: "I didn't see it but the boys were saying it wasn't a penalty. We go out to win the game, it's the way we play. It's got to come at some point.

"I've been playing well for a few games now so I just have to keep my rhythm going."

It's a great night for Newcastle. The win is fully deserved. The first half an hour they were in blistering form.

They have had some pain at Old Trafford in the past but those fans will travel back up north tonight really happy.

They won the game in the first half hour and controlled it for the next 60 minutes.

There's not many fans left for the Manchester United players to acknowledge after the final whistle.

Alexander Isak, meanwhile, is having a whale of a time celebrating in front of the travelling Newcastle fans.

You look at the Manchester United fans' faces and they are almost just staring into space. It's as if they are thinking 'What are we watching here?'

There goes the final whistle.

Newcastle's fine form continues and they move up to fifth in the Premier League table.

The misery continues for Manchester United.

A ninth draw of the season for Brighton - no side has drawn more - but it's a seventh game on the trot without a win for Fabian Hurzeler's side.

It proved to be the last kick of the game as Craig Pawson blows for full-time. Great game.

Aston Villa come forward as Ian Maatsen crosses low but Matt O'Riley clears for a corner. Last chance now.

I highly doubt that's enough time for Manchester United to make a remarkable comeback, but you never know!
