Everton v Wolves (Wed, 19:30 GMT)

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche on facing Wolverhampton Wanderers: "They've got good players. They've had a tough start, as have we. It's a very important game, I'm genuinely serious. Every game is a must win, that is something I've learned at Everton."

On staying positive: "It's important to get back to that, pushing the narrative, making it a more positive feel. The hardest part has been keeping that so far."

Re. Sam Morsy: I can't help thinking that vaguely citing "religious beliefs" is more of a cop-out than an explanation and Morsy should be more explicit. He might also want to reflect on how both homophobia and Islamophobia are both unwelcome blights in our society and understand that tolerance means more than following one's own personal feelings. It's about showing solidarity with all those among us who face discrimination simply for who we are, whether we like it or not.

  3. 'Moshiri has been supportive of me'published at 13:50 GMT 3 December 2024

Everton v Wolves (Wed, 19:30 GMT)

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche on Farhad Moshiri: "That's just how it's been. We know the reasons for that, the fans didn't want him at games.

"He's been supportive of me. The challenge of the club hasn't changed at this moment. If the new owners come in, they will have a strategy, a plan, a feel."

  4. 'Until we're absolutely there, we will just sit tight'published at 13:49 GMT 3 December 2024

Everton v Wolves (Wed, 19:30 GMT)

    Everton

Everton manager Sean Dyche on his relationship with Farhad Moshiri and potential ownership change: "I've always had a relationship with him, WhatsApp messages, the odd phone call, nothing too serious. We all know other groups have been close (to a takeover) and fell away.

"Until we're absolutely there, we will just sit tight. I can see why they've just stepped away until it's finally done."

  5. 'You can't appeal against a yellow card'published at 13:43 GMT 3 December 2024

Everton v Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wed, 19:30 GMT)

    Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Gary O'Neil on Nelson Semedo's yellow card and being accused of clapping at the referee: "Nels was not clapping the ref's decision, but it was interpreted in that way.

"There is not much we can do and you can’t appeal a yellow card.

"Nels is adamant that he wasn’t clapping.

"He has accepted his yellow and will miss this game. The lads will step up and fill that gap."

Everton manager Sean Dyche on whether he's sought assurances about his position from owner Farhad Moshiri: "The fact is it's never been an easy ride since I've walked in, that's never changed. I've been truthful and open about that. It's been difficult and it still is difficult.

"The club hasn't been operating in the manner it wants to for the last five seasons. We finished really well last season, but maybe that was misleading going into this season. It was never going to be easy. You have to get the margins right and this season, we haven't done that.

"There's so much work being done here, so many good things being done here, but I'm not naive enough to know that we have to win games and we haven't done that enough."

Is religion incompatible with respecting and supporting the rights of the LGBTQ+ community? I'm glad we live in a free country where Morsy can choose not to wear an armband but the wide acceptance of this decision seems to go against the whole point of the rainbow laces campaign and an aim to make football a space inclusive of all.

The Football Association is to remind Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi and the Selhurst Park club that religious messaging on their kit is banned.

England defender Guehi's rainbow captain's armband for Palace's draw against Newcastle United on Saturday had the message 'I love Jesus' written on it.

The armbands are being worn as part of Premier League clubs showing their support for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport by taking part in charity Stonewall's Rainbow Laces campaign between 29 November and 5 December.

Guehi's actions risked a formal FA charge, although sources from the organisation have said that will not happen on this occasion.

Rule A4 of the FA's kit and advertising regulations prohibit the "appearance on, or incorporation in, any item of clothing, football boots or other equipment of any religious message".

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on the pressure building: "The fans know what these guys have done over the last decade.

"They know we need the support, the players are human beings and will try everything to change the dynamic.

"We just have to play and think about the next one [game] I don't know another way. I don't feel sorry for myself.

    "It is what it is."

  17. To think about the title would be 'a big mistake'published at 12:56 GMT 3 December 2024

Man City v Nottingham Forest (Wed 19:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on if his side can still win the Premier League: "After the results in the past to think about a big target [winning Premier League] would be a big mistake. We need to beat a team close to us and take advantage to be closer to the top four.

"We are not far away from being the second team in the league but it is all about consistency.

"Liverpool as a team have been magnificent and you just have to fight and win games.

"Step by step we have to move forward again."

  18. 'Guardiola has never faced anything like this before'published at 12:45 GMT 3 December 2024

    Rory Smith
Senior writer for The Athletic, on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club

The big thing with Pep Guardiola is that he's never faced anything like this before. We know he's a wonderful manager but in his career there is not a comparable spell. He had bad moments in his first season [at Man City] and in his last year at Barcelona there were rumblings of discontent from the endless people inside Barcelona but in terms of a true slump in form - I don't think Guardiola has faced anything like this before.

15 years into his managerial career this is a new challenge for him. It might bring out the best in him and it might bring out the best in his players but he has never faced it before so seeing how he manages it is going to be genuinely interesting.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on if goalkeeper Ederson is still his number one after Stefan Ortega was selected ahead of him for Sunday's 2-0 defeat against Liverpool: "Ederson is number one, Stefan Ortega number two.

"But maybe Stefan [like against Liverpool on Sunday] will continue to start.

    "Ederson reacted really well."
