  1. 'Fulham's finest result and performance under Silva'published at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

    Chelsea 1-2 Fulham

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

This, arguably, was Fulham's finest result and performance under Silva, given its meaning as a west London derby and after 45 years without a victory at Stamford Bridge

Silva's successful festive period will be in the sharpest contrast to the misery of 2019, and he thinks Fulham's fans will share his joy as he said: "It will be one of the best Boxing Days for the fans in the last 50 years."

I think there are improvements in the English Premier League and on the flip side of that , the bad officiating seems to have moved over the border to Scotland . Can someone provide the SFA referees a rule book for shirt pulling fouls and thorough VAR communication?

I can't be the only person feeling queasy at everyone lapping up Slot's "judge us once we've played everyone home and away" like these are some pearls of wisdom we haven't heard a thousand times before from the manager of the league leaders at the half-way point. Here's a better one. Judge Slot once things start - and they will at some point - to go a bit wrong and the results start to stutter. Let's hear what he's got to say then. When it actually matters.

I think it's great for the Premier League in general. You like to see a bit of a mix-up. City are down in seventh and United in 14th. Forest have been playing brilliant football and it's nice to see players like Chris Wood doing so well and scoring goals.

They're enjoying their football and they've got a belief now.

  6. Bradley & Konate 'not training with the group yet'published at 14:28 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

West Ham v Liverpool (Sun, 17:15 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on the fitness of injured defenders Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate: "They will not be back for West Ham United but then there is a week in between [West Ham and the next game against Manchester United on 5 January] so let's see how close they are then.

"It is difficult for me to tell you in this moment because they don't train with the group yet. Hopefully in the coming days they move closer to that situation. I have to make the right judgement the moment they are back with the team."

  8. Van Dijk, Salah & Alexander-Arnold 'in constant talks with the club' - Slotpublished at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

West Ham v Liverpool (Sun, 17:15 GMT)

    Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk is one of three key Liverpool players, along with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, in the final year of their contract.

Manager Arne Slot was asked if he expected any "momentous" news on their situation to be revealed from 1 January, when the players would be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement to sign for an overseas club: "If we would then probably it is not the moment for me to tell you now. In general, I don't talk about contract situations here. It would be a surprise if I was the one to announce that one of them had extended, so I think that is in a different moment.

"So yes, keep asking because that is your job, but you are probably not going to get an answer from me.

"It is clear that from the first of January that maybe for you guys things change a lot, but they are in constant talks with the club so let's wait and see what happens.

"As long as they keep performing like this then the manager or head coach, as I have to say, is happy with them."

Liverpool really look like they have the title wrapped up, but if Salah tells Amorim to "stay humble" after they play Man Utd on 5th Jan, then anything is possible after.

There are no guarantees until it’s mathematically impossible for anyone else to win the title.

  10. Slot hopes Van Dijk can continue being outstanding 'as long as he is with us'published at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

West Ham v Liverpool (Sun, 17:15 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on whether captain Virgil van Dijk is playing the best football of his career: "That is difficult for me to say because I was not here when Virgil was close to winning the Ballon d'Or, for example. He has been such a tremendous player for Liverpool for so many years. I can only tell you what my experiences are with him.

"He has been outstanding not only for what you see during a game, but he has such a big impact during training as well. He is the vocal leader of this team. Every time we start an exercise he is on top of his team-mates and he leads by example.

"So for me he has been outstanding until now and we only hope he can continue showing this during the games and in the training sessions as long as he is with us."

Liverpool having a 7 point lead with a game in hand is a scenario we never would've dreamed of at the start of the season. However, we also know from past experiences how such leads can be closed down. All it needs are two draws to suddenly feel a bit of pressure and see 'other teams in the title race' - like how we saw Chelsea close in after two consecutive Liverpool draws. I don't think Liverpool fans will get carried away. Slot is conducting himself brilliantly to keep the expectations in check and ensure that we take it one game at a time. It's actually not even half way yet! Long way to go.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on travelling to West Ham without suspended midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who misses the game after picking up a yellow card Thursday's win over Leicester City: "I think Dominik Szoboszlai was outstanding against Tottenham Hotspur and the idea and the plan was that he should be outstanding against West Ham, but he is not available so someone else will have to be outstanding against West Ham."

No one is catching Liverpool now. The combination of their performances, timing of playing the big teams and the fact every realistic competitor is playing poorly, means the gap is too big.

  14. Slot's theory on Liverpool's unbeaten away recordpublished at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

West Ham v Liverpool (Sun, 17:15 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on the club's unbeaten away record in the league, after winning seven and drawing two of their nine games: "Our away form has been good but maybe it has a bit to do with the teams we faced in the first half of the season.

"Mainly we faced the teams at the top half of the table at home and the other ones we faced away, so that might have something to do with it.

"We are a strong team away from home and at home as well. I don't see any reason why we are stronger there and then here, but we can best judge at the end of the season once we have played every team home and away to see what fits us best."

  15. 'There is no extra pressure' being top - Slotpublished at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

West Ham v Liverpool (Sun, 17:15 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot on the extra pressure that goes with being top of the Premier League: "It is not so strange for a club like us to be top of the league, but we know how many good teams there are in this league and they are able to win almost every game as well.

"But there is no extra pressure - there is always pressure if you work at a club like Liverpool."

  18. Forest fined for Attwell post following Everton defeatpublished at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

Nottingham Forest were fined £750,000 by the Football Association in October for comments made about video assistant referee Stuart Attwell in the wake of their 2-0 defeat at Everton in April.

The FA described a Forest post on social media platform X as an "attack on the integrity of a match official on an unparalleled scale".

Forest claimed Attwell was a fan of Luton Town, who were also battling relegation at the time, when they complained on X about three penalty decisions that went against them during a 2-0 defeat by relegation rivals Everton.

The club denied they had questioned the integrity of officials or brought the game into disrepute.

But an independent commission found against them, adding that it noted "clear evidence of a lack of genuine remorse" from Forest and Attwell was the clear "victim" of the "ill-chosen and irresponsible" post.

The club were also warned by the panel over their conduct.

Forest said at the time that they would appeal against what they described as a "disproportionate" fine.

  19. Nuno on improvements in refereeing standardspublished at 13:49 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

Everton v Nottm Forest (Sun, 15:00 GMT)

    Nottingham Forest

More from Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo on his and the club's improving relationships with match officials, after last season criticising decisions made in their defeat at Everton: "This is what is normal, in my view, what happened before was not normal. I think we are seeing a season of improvement and we are delighted because what we wanted is to play the game and ignore everything else."

On improvements in the standards of refereeing in the Premier League: "For everybody, for every team. I am not following every team but we have the sense that they are doing well. I hope it continues because us coaches and players we don't want to think about the referee - we just want to play football."

  20. Man Utd squad is 'miles off'published at 13:48 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December

Everything [is problematic for Amorim] - results, issues off the field, Rashford.

He said it himself that they're going to have to suffer for a while. And they are.

Clearly a lot of those players in that football club are not good enough and he's going to have to be able to get rid of players and be allowed to bring players in that can suit his system but they're miles off.
