    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Jonas Eidevalll speaking to Sky Sports: "History has shown us that when we play against Manchester City it is really important to start the game well.

"However these games have been decided in the second half on so many occasions so we have a game plan that is clear how we want to start the game but also how we want to finish the game as well.

On depth in the squad after summer business: "We definitely have game changers on the bench that can come in at different stages of the game and in different scenarios as well, so there is a plan for that."

On having a big rival on the opening day: "Liking it or not liking it is not really how I think about it. It is what it is, you have to play every opponent twice and you just need to prepare as well as possible.

"I don't mind coming up against Manchester City because the games are always challenging and exciting, in the past they have been decided by small margins. It's an entertaining game for us to be a part of and for the neutral spectator to watch so it is an exciting start to the league."

Mariona Caldentey on the match programme

"Shake it Caldentey, twist and shout."

It's Arsenal fans' favourite chant at the moment and Caldentey is already one of their favourite players.

She's not even made her WSL debut yet - that is set to come today.

But her showing in Women's Champions League qualifying has been impressive and the former Barcelona forward could prove to be one of the best signings of the summer.

If she can make her mark on today's showdown with title challengers Manchester City, the fans could be singing her song for a long time.

She's one of many big names in action this afternoon and her face is on the front cover of the match programme.

Still do not understand Jonas and his selection! Russo/Mead on the bench? I get using Blackstenius given her form against City but this just looks like a team with one hand tied? He surely must see this as first blood right?
