Dr John Hall, Grimsby Town fan who attended the last game between the Mariners and Manchester United 77 years ago, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "When the news [of the draw] was reported my mind switched immediately to that 1948 game and where I sat in the ground. I know there were 12,000 in the ground that day. We'd had the relegation but the team was in pretty good shape and I think we scored first and United scored the next, it was a draw."

On how much he attends Grimsby games now at 96 years old: "When possible I go to every home match. Of course I have a season ticket so I am a regular visitor in the same place that I have sat in more or less for a long, long time. My seat in that stand directly faces the players' tunnel. When they come out accompanied by the sound of the crowd, that's a big thrill."

I ask them to improve every day. They've got a great opportunity tonight to show how much they've improved against some of the best in the world. That's the challenge. On what it means to the town of Grimsby: "I said in the week, when you're at a club like ours, you represent the whole area and they are passionate, they want us to do well.

"We're a big driver of the whole economy. There'll be plenty of hostelries around this ground tonight making a few bob that they might not have made on a Wednesday night because this means so much to them. And that's not lost on myself, or any of the players, any of the staff. It's great for them and I hope we give them something to be proud of."

Fulham in their all white kit are looking a bit like Real Madrid tonight.

Wonder if they'll play like them.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said what you would expect him to about Kobbie Mainoo in his pre-match chat with Sky Sports at Grimsby tonight.

"I believe a lot in Kobbie," he said, "more than everybody thinks – so I expect a lot from him."

The problem is the words have not been backed up by actions.

Does Amorim believe in Mainoo so much he would actually start him in a Premier League game?

A little ambitious from Harrison Reed as Harry Wilson comes forward but his cross is deflected and Reed goes for the overhead.

Tame at best.

Jason Stockwood, Grimsby Town co-owner and vice chair speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "People asked me when the draw came out whether I wanted it to be at Old Trafford but to be honest it's a better spectacle to be here in Grimsby tonight.

"I think playing here gives us a better chance as well because judging by the looks on the United players' faces coming into the ground, I don't think many of them will have played in stadiums like this.A lot of these Manchester United players will be earning a lot more in a week than our squad budget in a year but it is 11 v 11 at eight o'clock and we fancy ourselves."

"We've got a town that we really love, a community that we really love and people are proud to be from North East Lincolnshire and the football club needs to represent that. I'm proud and pleased that we can put Grimsby in the spotlight tonight."

Given time and games I think Kobbie Mainoo will be up to speed no problem at all.

You can't drop Bruno Fernandes at this moment in time because he has been the one mainstay in this United team that has played well for 90% of the season and won games for them and scored important goals.

There is a place for Kobbie and I would be very surprised and upset if they were to let him go.

Oxford come into this match having lost all three of their Championship games this season but cup football gives the chance to go out there and play without pressure.

Premier League Brighton make their way to the Kassam Stadium looking to get their first W of the campaign and book their spot in round three.

It's my first foray to Everton's new home and what a magnificent venue it is.

The shiny new stadium is seeing a shiny new signing being introduced, with English winger Tyler Dibling announced to the crowd.

The match against Mansfield tonight will be the first to be played under the floodlights here at Hill Dickinson Stadium and supporters will be hoping they can generate the same atmosphere they did at their own Goodison Park home.

The siren and Z Cars before kick-offs is going to be something else.

Grimsby Town chair Andrew Pettit speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast Sport on his ultimate ambition for the club: "Like all football clubs you want to go up through the leagues, but Jason [Stockwood - fellow majority shareholder] and I when we first got involved in the club, it was very much part of identity and part of what we were growing up and what we are as people.

"We want to rebuild that connection to the community and create an aspiration for the people of Grimsby and put us on the map. Hopefully there is a benefit not just for the club but for the town and the people as a whole."

So, Everton v Mansfield will now kick-off alongside Grimsby v Man Utd at 20:00.
