  1. 'We are not ready for 90 minutes and that is a real pity'published at 16:23 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Nottingham Forest 3-2 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton manager Ivan Juric speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "In the first half, we are not competitive and that is what happened. We played with heart and intensity and we scored. That is how we have to score.

"I didn't speak with them (at half-time). We are a competitive team but if we are down 10% then we are not competitive. I hope a first half like today never happens again. They score the first two goals, that is ridiculous.

"Second half we fight and score twice. Aina saved another one. At Manchester United for 80 minutes, in the second half today, we were good. We are not ready for 90 minutes and that is a real pity."

  2. 'Calm and played with confidence'published at 16:22 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Manchester United 1-3 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton goalscorer Georginio Rutter, speaking to Premier League Productions: "We are happy with three points today. It's good fans here [at Old Trafford], it's hard to play here but today we stayed calm and played with confidence."

On being in good form: "I'm very happy but it's about the team, they help me to score every week. It can be hard when a new player comes and you're expected to score straight away but they have been patient with me."

On targeting a return to Europe: "The season is long and we have to keep going like this, taking it game by game and we'll see at the end."

  5. 'Delap to score but City to win'published at 16:19 Greenwich Mean Time

Ipswich Town v Manchester City (16:30 GMT)

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League title winner with Blackburn

After a couple of encouraging games, Ipswich's home defeat by Brighton on Thursday was a disappointing result and performance.

Manchester City did not get the win they wanted either, slipping up late on at Brentford just when people were thinking they were back in a bit of form.

Still, Erling Haaland's new contract is great news for City and will give their fans a bit of a lift in what has been a difficult season. I would not be surprised if he celebrates it with a goal or two.

Ipswich can make it difficult for them, especially Liam Delap who is facing his old club. I think Delap will score, but City will win.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Two seasons ago, Liam Delap scored four goals across a whole Championship campaign.

Now, his Premier League form for Ipswich is leading to suggestions he could soon make his England breakthrough.

The 21-year-old has scored eight league goals this season since his £20m move from Manchester City - and faces his old team today.

"He has got a bit of everything in his game," said BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton.

"He can handle himself physically and he has got a brilliant touch too. The best thing about him, though, is that he is pretty fearless.

"If you play that role, you have got to have all the attributes as a number nine for whatever your team need. You have got to be able to run in behind as well as hold it up, and he has a really nice balance to his game."

BBC Sport has looked at the rise of the 'fearless' Liam Delap.

  7. 'A typical striker for the Premier League'published at 16:15 Greenwich Mean Time

With Erling Haaland doing so well at Manchester City in his time at the Etihad, that meant one younger striker had to head elsewhere and will be keen to prove a point today.

Ipswich forward Liam Delap moved from City in the summer in a transfer deal worth an initial £15m, although it could rise to £20m.

The City Academy graduate has impressed since swapping the Etihad Stadium for Portman Road, scoring eight goals so far this season as Town try to establish themselves in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old Delap, who made six first-team appearances at City, will come up against his old club.

“He’s doing really well,” said City manager Pep Guardiola. “So many players have come up from this academy and they have settled perfectly in the Premier League.

“When he was here, we always thought he was a typical striker for the Premier League and he’s doing really well. We are happy for him.”

On Erling Haaland's nine and a half year contract extension:

I've never seen that before, in terms of how long he's signed but he's an incredible striker. I think we need him in the Premier League for what he brings. It's going to be a tough few years for a few people.

You've got to be switched on for 90 minutes playing against Erling Haaland.

He's literally the best in the world at everything he does.

One player that will not be leaving Manchester City any time soon though is striker Erling Haaland after signing a huge contract extension earlier this week.

Former Manchester City midfielder Michael Brown joins The Football News Show's Ben Croucher to discuss Haaland's new contract at Manchester City, that will see him remain at the club until 2034.

Brown says it will enable the striker to focus purely on his football and explores how it will help City recruit new players.

No Kyle Walker in the Manchester City squad again today.

The word out of Italy is AC Milan are getting towards the point where they can approach City with an offer for the veteran England international.

Walker has been allowed to explore his options by manager Pep Guardiola and it does seem his time at City is coming to an end.

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna believes his side, who are third from bottom, are a different prospect to the team which travelled to Manchester City in August.

They stunned Pep Guardiola’s side by taking the lead in the seventh minute, only to find themselves 3-1 down seven minutes later and were eventually beaten 4-1.

“Probably one of the biggest reflections on the game was that we weren’t able to handle the negative momentum away from home,” added McKenna.

“We have improved in that phase of the game, certainly in tough games away from home. We’ve learned to manage negative momentum better than we did that day.

“I’m sure we’re going to have to do that at times, it’s certainly not going to be our way for 90 minutes so we’re going to have to dig in and stick together at periods of the game.

“But also we want to try and impose ourselves on them, which we weren’t able to do too much in the first game after we got the goal.”

  12. How it standspublished at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time

Ipswich Town v Manchester City (16:30 GMT)

This is how it stands in the Premier League with one game to go today.

If Ipswich avoid defeat at home against Manchester City they will move out of the bottom three and above Wolves, who play at Chelsea tomorrow.

City will go up to fifth with a win and could go fourth, but need a three-goal victory to achieve that.
