14th in the league, 21st in the Europa League. Can we please get a new Manchester United manager now?

    Joe

The Man Utd hierarchy have given Ten Hag all the time and all the resources he possibly could’ve needed, but they’ve been going downhill for 14 months, and now sit 14th in the table. How much worse do things need to get for them to act?

    Samuel

1 win in 8 games games for Man Utd. 14th in the league and without a win in Europe. I wish I had Ten Hags job security!

  2. 'We don't mind proving people wrong'published at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle

    Chelsea

Chelsea striker Cole Palmer, speaking to Sky Sports: "I try and go out there and play my game. That is what I do."

On people saying you are unstoppable: “I wouldn’t go that far. I always try to enjoy my football game by game. I try to not put pressure on myself. Many people on the outside try to put pressure on me to replicate what I did last season in terms of numbers. It is my second season playing football and I am still very, very young."

Thoughts on Chelsea and fighting for top four: "We just try to play our own game, block the noise out from the outside. We don't mind proving people wrong.

“We are all young and we have a top coach, but there are improvements still."

On being compared to Gianfanco Zola: “I know he is an icon on Fifa so he must have been good. To be honest I didn’t really watch him play. Everyone says he was a great player, so thank you.”

  3. 'Very important' - Matetapublished at 16:18 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October

    Crystal Palace 1-0 Tottenham

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace goalscorer Jean-Philippe Mateta speaking to Sky Sports: "Very important, first win this season and we worked hard to have another win. It was important to win against Tottenham. The first three points.

"Every day in training, I always want to show the manager that I'm fit and can score for the team.

"I say every time, if he [Eze] played good then we would win. Today he gave me the pass."

We can say fair play to West Ham based on the result but let’s be honest. They got battered and only had two shots on target, one of which was a very very very dubious penalty. They took their chances but by no means did they play well. United should have had it wrapped up by half time.

Newcastle has a good team on paper, and has been under par for a while, have they reached the limit with Eddie Howe ? Maybe they need some new ideas.

  8. 'Chelsea made it unnecessarily difficult'published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October

    FT: Chelsea 2-1 Newcastle

    Mark Warburton
Former Nottingham Forest boss on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Chelsea showed really long periods of domination, we saw the impact of the likes of Palmer, Caicedo and Lavia. But they made it unnecessarily difficult for themselves. It's one of those games where they can learn so much about themselves but so much quality on show.

  9. 'Lucky with the penalty but West Ham got their reward'published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 27 October

Full credit to West Ham. Julen Lopetegui went bold, he brought on Crysencio Summerville and Tomas Soucek and went to a back five. They were quick, dynamic, some great counters, and they got their reward. A little lucky with the penalty yes, but these home fans enjoyed what they saw in that second half.

That was a truly insane penalty decision for West Ham. It was a nothing collision for the ball and a handball from Ings. Never seen anything so soft in my life.

    Oscar

Ok how do we get rid of VAR? Farcical situations like that penalty in the United game are just too much, it has to go.

Manchester United will wonder how on earth they have lost that game.

Matheus de Ligt goes straight to David Coot to further complain about the penalty decision. More will be said about that for sure.

But it's a vital win for Julen Lopetegui and West Ham. Nothing but questions for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag.

End to end stuff here at the end of this game. Emerson was in down the left and had the chance to finish it but he smashes his shot straight at Andre Onana, I think it hit him straight in the face.
