It's a fantastic bit of play, Gus Hamer has injected some much-needed pace into the game.

The first goal was so important, hopefully now Cardiff will come out and Sheffield United can start picking them apart and applying more pressure.

There was huge relief from the home fans with that goal.

As it stands the Blades are within two points of Leeds United once more.

I need to see Rhian Brewster more in the game. He's been very quiet so far, we haven't mentioned his name much.

He's so effective when he's on the ball and I think we need to get him on the ball and in more dangerous positions.

Cardiff are defending so narrow, forcing the play into a very compact patch of Yorkshire turf. There's no overlapping centre-backs from this Blades Xi though. They look short of ideas out there.

A shot! Vini Souza grows frustrated and puts his foot through one from about 30 yards but it's blazed well over into the Cardiff fans. Chris Wilder looks less than impressed.

Nope. Harrison Burrows' ball in is decent but Cardiff defend it well and counter themselves. Then United break back the other way, Jesuran Rak-Sakyi bests one man, gets into the area...and then falls over his own feet.

End-to-end without any real conviction.

Well played Tyrese Campbell, he rolls Cardiff defender Will Fish out wide and the centre-back is booked for tugging him back. Can this set-piece kick start the hosts?

Halfway though the first half and Cardiff will be pleased with this.

Both teams are out of nick and it shows. Cardiff keeper Ethan Horvath throws the ball out quickly, too quickly, and the Blades can attack. But they dither on it too long and lose the ball themselves.

Sheffield United are just a little bit edgy when defending, a little bit clumsy at times.

Everybody is here, there and everywhere at times this afternoon, with 20 minutes gone you can feel a little bit of animosity, but that's United fans and the players will have to get used to it.

Sheffield United have had 65% of the ball, and haven't had a shot.

Oooof there's a real melee at the other end as the Blades can't deal with a long ball in, Yakou Meite has a hoik at the ball and doesn't get a clean shot away. Half a chance for Cardiff!

A few groans from the stands as United play out from the back but keeper Michael Cooper hits a lovely raking pass out wide to start an attack. Gustavo Hamer drifts in from the left and gets on the ball but his pass towards Rhian Brewster is overhit.

Vinicius Souza drops deep to start the Blades off and waves his arms frantically, looking for more energy and movement ahead of him. Cardiff are dropping into a 4-4-2 off the ball and look nice and compact.

A neat flick from Gus Hamer on the touchline is well meaning but doesn't find a striped team-mate and Cardiff turn the ball over. The ball is whipped in but there's nobody there for the visitors.

It's tense inside the stadium. Quiet.

What a huge win for Portsmouth at Norwich, has that all but kept them up?
