  1. goal

GOAL: Sheff Wed 2-0 Stokepublished at 14:04 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Callum Paterson (76 mins)

The 10-man hosts double their money!

Yan Valery battles well for the ball down by the corner flag and Shea Charles backs him up with a good challenge.

The Northern Ireland man gets to the byline and cuts it back for Callum Paterson to tap home at the near post.

VERY similar to how the Owls scored their first.

Mountain for Stoke to climb now.

    Coventry have to change it.

Forget trying to play it out the back and go long, got to try and go for the next goal.

We don't look confident playing the ball out.

  3. Postpublished at 14:03 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Portsmouth 4-1 Coventry

Looking like another away game with no reward for Coventry.

It'll be just two wins from their past 15 matches (D5 L8 as it stands) on the road, barring a very unlikely comeback in the closing stages here.

  4. Postpublished at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Hull City 1-1 Swansea City

A dangerous-looking Hull City break sees Gustavo Puerta twisting and dribbling his way through.

The midfielder is brought down by Swansea's Matt Grimes, before he can put Ryan Longman through on goal.

It is a really open game now.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 14:02 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Sheff Wed 1-0 Stoke

Junior Tchamadeu is booked for inadvertently clattering James Beadle as the Owls keeper gathers a loose ball.

Pretty harsh given he was pushed on to the Wednesday keeper by a home defender.

  6. Postpublished at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Sheff Wed 1-0 Stoke

The replays of that Barry Bannan handball a few moments ago suggest the veteran REALLY got away with one.

The Owls skipper very clearly cuts the ball out with his hand.

Stoke have every right to feel hard done by but they can't be feeling sorry for themselves, they've got a shade over 15 minutes to rescue something from this.

Wednesday have been down to 10 men since Di'Shon Bernard was sent off before the break.

  7. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Hull City 1-1 Swansea City

Swansea could so easily have gone in front here.

A corner is swung into the far post and finds the head of Harry Darling.

He tries to cushion the ball back to central defensive partner Ben Cabango, who flicks a header onto the post.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Portsmouth 4-1 Coventry

Paddy Lane is joining the Portsmouth football team Christmas party.

The Northern Irish winger replaces Josh Murphy.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Sheff Wed 1-0 Stoke

The home side go to their bench for the second time.

Callum Paterson and Nathaniel Chalobah are on for goalscorer Josh Windass and Djeidi Gassama.

  10. Postpublished at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Hull City 1-1 Swansea City

Hull's Joao Pedro is climbing all over Swansea defender Ben Cabango and thinks he has a clear sight of goal, but the referee pulls the ball back for a foul.

Spaces are starting to open up all over the pitch, this could be a cracking final 20 minutes.

  11. CLOSE!published at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Portsmouth 4-1 Coventry

Josh Murphy hits one from outside the area for Portsmouth and it only narrowly goes over the top via a deflection.

Pretty much the entire second period has been played in Coventry's half so far.

Five shots for the hosts since the restart, none for the visitors.

  12. Postpublished at 13:57 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Sheff Wed 1-0 Stoke

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan you lucky, lucky boy!

The skipper looks to intercept a ball into the middle with his head but misjudges the flight of the ball and it clearly hits his hand.

    The officials don't think so.

  13. Postpublished at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Portsmouth 4-1 Coventry

Matt Ritchie has been excellent for Pompey today by the way. The 35-year-old is making his 500th league appearance in this game. Quite the career.

  14. Postpublished at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Sheff Wed 1-0 Stoke

Stoke defender scored in the right end and the wrong end in last week's 2-2 draw with Cardiff.

He maybe should be celebrating another goal here but stabs over a loose ball from the corner.

Another chance comes and goes for the visitors against the 10 men.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Sheff Wed 1-0 Stoke

From one end to the other as Stoke clear an Owls corner and race right down the other end and win a corner of their own.

Sam Gallagher and Lynden Gooch are introduced by Stoke boss Narcis Pelach.

  16. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Hull City 1-1 Swansea City

You have to feel for Hull City here. They are without a victory since October, but are on top here.

Should they take risks as they try and go for all three points, knowing an eighth defeat in nine games could prove costly?

Xavier Simons and Mason Burstow are the reinforcements for the hosts, with Ronald and Florian Bianchini on for Swansea.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Portsmouth 4-1 Coventry

Ephron Mason-Clark, who has been one of Coventry's best players in recent weeks with three goals and and two assists, including another today, is withdrawn.

Bobby Thomas, Victor Torp and Norman Bassette also all make way for the visitors in a quadruple change by Frank Lampard.

Brandon Thomas-Asante, Joel Latibeaudiere, Josh Eccles and Ellis Simms are on.

    Just past the hour-mark.

The 10-man home side have the lead and they look threatening on the break.

If Stoke fail to turn this around today they would stretch their winless run to eight, with second-placed Leeds to come on Boxing Day. Bah humbug indeed.

  19. Postpublished at 13:50 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Portsmouth 4-1 Coventry

Colby Bishop gets on the end of a corner for the hosts and heads towards goal at the back post.

This time Brad Collins is able to save comfortably.

Portsmouth have blown Coventry away in this second half. They're all over the Sky Blues.

  20. Postpublished at 13:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 December 2024

    Hull City 1-1 Swansea City

    Another agonising chance for Hull.

Joao Pedro is in on goal and elects to go around Swansea goalkeeper Lawrence Vigoroux, but the keeper gets a touch to push the ball out wide on the left.

Pedro then waits and waits for the perfect chance to open up for a pull back inside the area, but opts to go alone when it doesn't arrive and the eventual shot is lacklustre.
