    Sunderland 1-0 Burnley

    Gary Bennett
Ex-Sunderland defender on BBC Radio Newcastle

You know what we always say, 1-0 you're still in the game.

I think Sunderland need to bring Alan Browne on, just for that experience.

  2. Postpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 24 August

    Preston 1-0 Luton

Luton have yet to pick up a win since returning to the Championship.

If this result stays as it is, they will be hovering above the bottom of the table just ahead of Cardiff (who play tomorrow).

No changes yet by Hatters boss Rob Edwards but surely they are coming.

    Sunderland 1-0 Burnley

Still just the one shot on target int his game between two teams who started the day with 100% records in the league.

Just as well Romaine Mundle made the most of it for the home side.

  5. League One latestpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 24 August

Barnsley, Lincoln, Blackpool and Wrexham have all flown out of the traps in the second half extending their leads.

Blackpool now have four against Cambridge who have pulled it back to 4-2 through Danny Andrew while Barnsley's Adam Phillips has hit the home side's second against Northampton at Oakwell.

Wrexham are three to the good against Reading and look out of sight already.

Lincoln are fizzing, adding two inside the first six minutes of the second half at the LNER Stadium to lead Mansfield 4-0.

Charlton, Huddersfield, Birmingham City and Wigan are all still in front. Wycombe and Rotherham is the only goalless game in the third tier.

  7. Postpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 24 August

    Stoke 1-2 West Brom

West Brom have come out on top so far and have twice almost pushed themselves even further in front of Stoke.

Alex Mowatt's long-distance shot coasts narrowly wide of the post and Tom Fellows' strike is not far off going into the top corner.

How Baggies boss Carlos Corberan would love a game-sealing third goal.

    Middlesbrough 1-2 Portsmouth

Boro piling on the pressure so far this second half.

This would be a 20th home game unbeaten for the Canaries if it stays as it is.

  10. Mundle more than able replacementpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 24 August

    Sunderland 1-0 Burnley

    Kenny Crawford
    BBC Final Score

Sunderland fans might’ve been lamenting the loss of Jack Clarke to Ipswich, but the man taking his place in the team today has definitely produced the goods.

Romaine Mundle had already looked lively before he got himself on the scoresheet with a crisp low finish into the far bottom corner.

Regis Le Bris’ side on course for nine points from nine, as it stands!

  11. A humdinger against all expectationspublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 24 August

    Stoke 1-2 West Brom

    Ged Scott
BBC Sport at The bet365 Stadium

Having seen Stoke edge a narrow 1-0 win here against Coventry two weeks ago and Albion then grind out a grim goalless draw with Leeds last Saturday, when a colleague asked me just prior to this game how I thought it might go, I pulled a bit of a face and did a theatrical yawn.

Not for the first time in four decades in this profession, I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Three goals, one against the woodwork, two miracle escapes. So far an absolute humdinger of a game.

But then again, what did I expect? As soon as I saw the teamsheet with the name Lewis Koumas on it, having once reported on his dad Jason, I was already feeling old!

    Hope there’s more to come!

  12. Postpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 24 August

    Sunderland 1-0 Burnley

No changes from the visitors at the interval.

The Clarets are looking to avoid what would be just a second defeat in their past 29 Championship games.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 24 August

We're starting to get going again up and down the country for the second half. What's in store over the next 45 minutes?

  14. League One latestpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 24 August

Pie time in League One and plenty of goals to reflect on from the first period.

Barnsley are holding Northampton at arm's length a goal to the good. Charlton, Huddersfield and Wigan are all 1-0 up against against Bolton, Shrewsbury and Crawley respectively.

Blackpool are 3-1 up at Cambridge United, James Husband with two and Kyle Joseph with a third the goalscorers.

Elsewhere Birmingham City have a 2-1 lead at Leyton Orient, Wrexham are 2-0 up against Reading and Lincoln are two up against Mansfield Town, Sean Roughan scoring in first-half stoppage time to double their lead.

Peterborough have come from behind to lead 2-1 at Exeter City, Emmanuel Fernandez with a 45th minute goal.

  15. 'Norwich could be onto good things'published at 16:00 British Summer Time 24 August

    HT: Norwich 1-1 Sheff Utd

    Simon Lappin
Former Norwich midfielder on BBC Radio Norfolk

Johannes Hoff Thorup will be relatively pleased with the performance. We've seen it in spells - obviously with the goal- but it's the same old, same old that we've seen from Norwich over the years. They want to play that expansive football then there's that lack of composure to take that extra touch.

But I think Hoff Thorup will be pleased. If they keep doing what they are doing in the second-half, I think they could be onto some good things.

Fourteen goals so far across the Championship, including at least one goal in every one of our seven 15:00 games so far.

Sunderland are 1-0 up against a not-so-firing Burnley at the Stadium of Light, while Portsmouth hold a 2-1 lead against promotion-favourites Middlesbrough, thanks to a double from Christian Saydee.

Preston's Paul Heckingbottom era is off to the perfect start as they lead struggling Luton 1-0, while West Brom are also 2-1 up against Stoke, although the Potters have struck the post since going behind so this one is far from over.

All square between Norwich and Sheffield United, Blackburn and Oxford and Watford and Derby.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 24 August

    Middlesbrough 1-2 Portsmouth

John Mousinho's Portsmouth go into the break ahead.

Portsmouth's Christian Saydee enjoying himself at the Riverside, netting twice.

Middlesbrough came close to equalising late in the first half but weren't quite able to find the net.

I reckon the second half might have a few more goals in it.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 24 August

    Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Oxford United

The game came to life in the final minutes of the first half with two well taken goals.

Mark Harris's strike potentially an early goal of the season contender.

We go into the break level.

  19. League Two half-timespublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 24 August

Half time and it is Bradford City, Doncaster and MK Dons who will be enjoying their cuppa in the dressing room the most with all three having their noses in front at the break.

Andy Cook doubled Bradford's lead over Bromley their second taking his tally to three in three this season.

MK Dons are looking comfortable 2-0 up against Carlisle United while Newport County and Accrington Stanley are locked at 1-1 at Rodney Parade.

No goals in the other five 15:00 BST kick-offs.

GOAL: Blackburn Rovers 1-1 Oxford Unitedpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 24 August

    Rankin-Costello (45+2)

    Rovers are level!

The home side equalise immediately, Joe Rankin-Costello pounces after Oxford fail to clear their lines.

He shoots left footed on the volley into the back of the net.
