So this is how you play with 10 men. I hope Maresca is watching.

That was a really good chance for Aston Villa. Maatsen plays the ball into the box and Sunderland don't clear it. It falls to Elliott and you're expecting the net to bulge, but he hits it just wide.

I know the long ball is back in fashion but it's disappointing to see Bournemouth just hoofing it upfield playing into the hands of the giants in the Newcastle back five.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Well I thought both games were looking like 0-0s and then there were two goals scored in the other game.

BUT I do stand by this game looking very 0-0.

    Sunderland 1-1 Aston Villa

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stadium of Light

It is a superb header from Xhaka, the most delicate of headers over the Villa back line, and Isidor is in. Martinez rushes out but there is nothing he can do.

    Wilson Isidor (77 mins)

And just like that, Sunderland are level!

It is Wilson Isidor again as he scores in a third home game in a row in the Premier League.

Granit Xhaka cushions a header into the box and Isidor gets away from the defence to prod in.

  15. Postpublished at 15:34 BST

    Sunderland 0-1 Aston Villa

A chance to make it 2-0 to Aston Villa as Donyell Malen races between two defenders, he tries to round the goalkeeper but the Sunderland defence does enough to force him wide and the opportunity is gone.

Good run into the box by Harvey Barnes before he goes down under a challenge by James Hill. It is an excellent, clean challenge despite Newcastle fans wanting a penalty.

  20. 'Roefs makes a mess of it'published at 15:29 BST

    Sunderland 0-1 Aston Villa

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stadium of Light

It's a wonderful hit from Cash but it really should be stopped by Roefs.

From a Sunderland point of view you are thinking, 'Go on, hit it,' because he is so far out he wouldn't likely test the keeper, but Cash cuts across the ball and it drifts from left to right, and Roefs makes a mess of it.
