  1. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:12 BST

    Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

Nick Woltemade controls Tino Livramento's cross into the box and then goes down inside the box under a challenge.

His fall is a bit theatrical and no penalty is awarded.

  2. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:10 BST

    Sunderland 0-0 Aston Villa

Sunderland may be down to 10 men but they have started this second half well and Aston Villa cannot clear their lines before Omar Alderete sends a header onto the crossbar.

    An escape for Villa.

You wonder how long this approach from Eddie Howe will continue?

Will he stretch it and go with four maybe? And how long can Bournemouth continue to keep this pressure on?

The key for Aston Villa in this second half is how quickly they move the ball forward. Don't let Sunderland get set in their defensive shape.

The long throw is apparently back in vogue. I'm a follower of a team in the lower leagues so it has never really gone away to be honest, but a Sunderland long throw causes a little bit of bother in the Villa defence before a shot goes wide.

  7. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:06 BST

    Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

A change for Bournemouth for the second half as Alex Jimenez is replaced by James Hill.

Chris: So Joe (14:42) thinks Villa are a potential relegation team based on just 5 games. It is absolutely fair to say that Villa are lacking in confidence especially in front of goal but I am certain that will change today. The whole league has a funny look about it at the moment. Let’s see where everybody is at Christmas.

  10. When will Howe bring his big guns on?published at 15:04 BST

    HT: Bournemouth 0-0 Newcastle

    Shay Given
Former Newcastle and Man City keeper on Match of the Day

That was a poor first half. Maybe understandable from Newcastle after the Barcelona game on Thursday and with Eddie Howe making seven changes - it will interesting to see if he brings some of his big guns off the bench early in the second half.

As for the Tonali ‘handball’, he does move his hand away, but we’ve seen them given for less so he’s maybe got away with one there.

You can hear more from Given on MOTD at 22:30 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

Villa need to take off Watkins, Rogers and Guessand and bring on Elliot, Sancho and Malen. The first three have had 4 1/2 games and done nothing.

BBC Sport revealed this morning that Bukayo Saka has returned to full training following four weeks out.

And it is now understood that he is expected to be named in the match day squad, with a place on the bench for the big game versus Manchester City.

William Saliba is also pushing for a return to the starting XI after injury.

  15. 'Big team talks coming up for both managers'published at 14:53 BST

    HT: Sunderland 0-0 Aston Villa

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live at Stadium of Light

Both managers have big half time team talks coming up. For Le Bris it will be about organisation and how they stay in this game for as long as they can, and try and get chances at the other end. Whether that be from set pieces, long throw ins and such.

For Emery, we keep going on about this team that has not scored a goal, they are now going to face a team that will have the back five with midfield in front, and are going to make it even more difficult.

The pressure will be on Aston Villa to break down 10 men here. Emiliano Buendía wriggles away from a defender 25 yards from goal and tries to flick a ball into the box but puts far too much on it.

Watkins has been so quiet hasn't he? He just drifted over to the left hand side there to get involved, which just goes to show the lack of service he's had.
