  4. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Man City 0-0 Inter Milan

Space for Kevin de Bruyne in a dangerous area but he cannot make it count and fires into the side netting. It's tight and finely poised. Inter have produced a defensive masterclass so far there is a long way to go.

The City kit is getting more mentions than the team at the moment. Has Pep tried to think it through too much again?

One thing Inter do very well is that they get back in numbers and flood the centre of the pitch. Man City haven't had any joy as of yet with their intricate passing in and around the box.

  9. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Man City 0-0 Inter Milan

Another lovely delivery into Inter's penalty area which Erling Haaland fails to connect with. It falls to Savinho who takes a wild swing and leathers it towards the corner flag. The Brazilian smiles but that was a poor attempt.

  10. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Man City 0-0 Inter Milan

Bernardo Silva turns inside the box but Yann Bisseck is alert to the danger and is able to mop up. Manchester City are being made to work hard. Inter are well organised at the back and disciplined.

  11. City a bit sloppy so farpublished at 20:22 British Summer Time 18 September

Former Liverpool defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

Inter have pinched the ball from City a few times, without having to do very much to get it. It’s been a bit sloppy from City at times, but the rotation of players coming into midfield and dropping back into defence for Inter has been really good

  12. Inter getting an overload in midfieldpublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 18 September

    Man City 0-0 Inter Milan

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

I’m impressed by Inter’s system so far and the way their defenders are stepping up into midfield. Francesco Acerbi has been doing that a lot so far, giving Inter an overload on City in the middle and making it easier for Inter to play out from the back. It’s also not easy for City to press them, because if they go too far forward, then Inter can go long and bypass the press. They have done that a couple of times already.

You can hear more from Warnock on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 BST on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

  13. 'Not enough pace on the ball'published at 20:21 British Summer Time 18 September

    Man City 0-0 Inter Milan

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Erling Haaland gets up well at the back post but there was not really enough pace on the ball from Savinho.

Haaland ends up glancing the ball in the end with Yan Sommer clutching it above his head on the line.

Manchester City's 'Definitely City' kit is making its debut tonight, featuring the handwriting of Oasis star Noel Gallagher - he has designed the font for the players' names and numbers.

It is of course inspired by the Definitely Maybe was the album that propelled Oasis to stardom and turned 30 in August.

A little bit of a tame start here in all honesty. The game of the week with the two finalists from 2023 facing one another, but apart from the shot from Marcus Thuram there has been very little.

  19. Inter trying to drag City outpublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 18 September

    Man City 0-0 Inter Milan

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at the Etihad Stadium

    Inter have started quite well.

Coach Simone Inzaghi is not too impressed with some of their play in the middle of the field but they are patient in possession and drawing City out of position.

That is allowing them to play one touch passes to their front men.

Marcus Thuram has had two sights of goal already without testing Ederson.

  20. 'Inter look a greater threat than City'published at 20:17 British Summer Time 18 September

    Man City 0-0 Inter Milan

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Inter look a greater threat than Man City at the moment. City are dominating the ball but Inter had another three versus two there, with Medhi Taremi lacking enough belief to go past Manuel Akanji. The pass wasn't incisive enough in the end and the chance went begging.
