West Brom's new head coach Tony Mowbray watched his side win 5-1 in his first home game in his second spell in charge and he told BBC WM:

"The first 20 minutes we were under the cosh and were caught out a bit, they pressed really high and really well.

"When we did get the first goal it unleashed us and probably put some demons in their minds, our two wide players were so good today.

"I have to inspire my team and I don't have an ego about my tactics, I have an understanding that if i give these talented players a licence and space to express themselves then we can win a lot of football matches."

  3. 'We got punished'published at 18:02 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: West Brom 5-1 Portsmouth

Portsmouth's 5-1 hammering at West Brom leaves them precariously placed just outside the Championship relegation zone by two points.

Portsmouth boss John Mousinho has been speaking to BBC Radio Solent:

    "It's really frustrating and disappointing.

"We were beaten by the better side there's no doubt about that, West Brom are a really good team.

"I was really pleased with our start and the opening 20-25 minutes, we had the better chances, created more and had a few shots.

"Then we conceded and then we just went under, we got punished. It seems to be something that happens far too often at the moment.

"When we go a goal down away from home, confidence drops and we don't have the ability at the moment to dig in and find something extra."

  4. 'The game was there for us' says Boro boss Carrickpublished at 18:01 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Preston 2-1 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough head coach Michael Carrick told BBC Radio Tees:

"Today I thought it was there for us. We started well, defended well and took control for large parts.

"There were a couple of moments where we shot ourselves in the foot. The boys are devastated, I'm disappointed. It is a horrible day to be sitting here with nothing.

"We were really good for a lot of the game; when Delano scored, the emotion was great to be part of. We thought it was coming again and it went to other way.

"There is a hell of an opportunity in front of us, an awful lot to play for and big games coming up. We've got to learn."

  5. Sunderland boss Le Bris - 'We didn't manage game'published at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Sunderland 2-2 Plymouth

Promotion-chasing Sunderland conceded a 90th minute equaliser to draw with bottom side Plymouth as Black Cats head coach Regis Le Bris spoke with BBC Radio Newcastle:

"At the end I think we were a bit lucky to win a single point.

"I think we started well because the first half was OK, but we were faced with a very compact block and we found some solutions sometimes, but we didn't create many chances.

"During the second half I think we made many mistakes and we opened our shape and they found solutions to create chances and they scored.

"It was deserved from them and we came back in the game - but at the end it was more direct for them but we didn't manage the end of the game properly."

  6. Lampard – 'We are in a good place'published at 17:54 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Coventry 2-1 Watford

Frank Lampard said his side were in a "good place" but called on them to keep the momentum going after a third straight win. Speaking to BBC CWR the Coventry manager said:

"It has been a really good week. A tough game as always but really pleased with the players and a great effort for the week which gives us a real positive feeling around the place.

"First half-hour we were really good. Everyone was positive and everyone was on it. It was not easy to break down a back five but we got our reward. At half-time it was just a situation of carrying on.

"They had some moments but not many that were that threatening. Even the goal for them was a messy goal but we held out brilliantly in the end.

"It is easy (to have that spirit) when you ARE winning but we have to make sure we guard against any complacency. The players want to win, they want to learn they want to train and that has been a pleasure for me to be involved in.

"But any team that has success must have that as a baseline and at the minute, we’ve got that. They are in a good place but they have to carry on."

  7. 'I'm not turning my back' - Warne on Derby futurepublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Cardiff 2-1 Derby

More from Derby County boss Paul Warne as he is asked by BBC Radio Derby if he feels he can turn things around after a sixth successive league defeat today:

"If I didn't feel that I'd drive around to David's (Clowes - owner) house and say look, you know....I do think that because I don't feel the performance today for large parts was of an under performing team or an unconfident team.

"I'm not going to turn my back on the group - you just have to shake yourself down and attack the next game, I'm not defeatist, I'm not a bad loser, I'm a realist."

  8. 'One more push' - Owls boss Rohlpublished at 17:48 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: QPR 0-2 Sheff Wed

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Danny Rohl told BBC Radio Sheffield:

“Credit to my team. I demanded one more push this week, and it’s not easy to come to QPR and take something, they've had a good run.

“The first 15 to 20 minutes was not easy, a lot of setpieces and not-nice football, but we came step by step into the game and in the second half in the right moments, we scored and then kept the clean sheet.

“It’s a really good performance. There was a feeling after the Bristol game [from others] that this was a bad season, but that’s wrong.

“We were very focussed, very organised, and concentrated. In the second half I can’t remember them having one chance against us.”

  9. Heckingbottom 'delighted' at North End winpublished at 17:44 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Preston 2-1 Middlesbrough

After watching his side beat Middlesbrough, Preston head coach Paul Heckingbottom told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"I'm delighted with the performance and the application against a good side.

"I've said before, in possession, Boro are a very, very dangerous team.

"If you let them or don't fully commit, they can cause so many problems. We had to show all sides of our game today to get the win."

  10. 'You bend and you don't break'published at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

FT: Cardiff City 2-1 Derby County

It's now six straight league defeats for Derby who are second from bottom in the Championship.

Boss Paul Warne spoke to BBC Radio Derby:

"Losing is a trend we need to stop.

"In the first half we were the team in the ascendancy - you have to get the first goal when you're on top, you can't come away from home, be on top for 45 minutes and not score.

"To concede the goal is poor from us and to concede again straight after is disappointing - you bend and you don't break.

"I don't think over the course of the game we deserve to come away losing but that's the headline and I make no excuses fort that."

  11. 'It's really pleasing'published at 17:39 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

FT: Bristol City 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

Bristol City are only three points outside the play-off spots and boss Liam Manning has been talking to BBC Radio Bristol:

"We took a bit of a hiding at their place earlier in the year so to respond today and win the game with two bits of outstanding quality is really pleasing.

"We played Wednesday, had a day less in recovery and the lads were flat out on their feet at the end which speaks volumes of what we've got in the group and the behaviours we want.

"We've dropped points from winning positions too many times this season so I'm pleased to lads saw it out."

  12. 'It's important we stick together' - Eustacepublished at 17:36 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

FT: Bristol City 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have dropped out of the Championship's top six after a 2-1 defeat by Bristol City.

Blackburn head coach John Eustace told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"The spirit the boys showed was outstanding - we had a couple of players drop out just before kick-off.

"We want to be competitive and play our style of football and against a good team be difficult to play against and I thought we were.

"It's important we stick together and keep playing like that and when we get a few more players back from injury and hopefully we can bring two or three good quality players into the group as well, things will change."

  14. 'We'll take the clean sheet and another point' - Us boss Rowettpublished at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

FT: Stoke City 0-0 Oxford United

After stretching his unbeaten run to eight games since taking charge Oxford United boss Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Oxford:

"We certainly could have had all three points with that chance right at the end.

"Maybe because it's his (Ole Romeny's) first game and a chance like that he snatched at it a little bit but he is very unlucky.

"I thought it was going to be a really tough game but we navigated it quite well, we had more possession, chances and the bigger of the chances.

"I never felt like we were massively in trouble but then there wasn't a huge amount in the game, we take the clean sheet and another point away from home."

  15. Robins frustrated as Potters heldpublished at 17:29 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Stoke 0-0 Oxford

Mark Robins is still waiting for his first Championship win in charge of Stoke as they were held by Oxford in one of the lunchtime games and he told BBC Radio Stoke:

"I've got to say I'm frustrated.

"I thought we were the better team, they didn't really create a great deal but a lot of it was stuff we gave them.

"We defended set plays really well and had some decent opportunities, in the final third we made some naive decision at times and that cost us chances and goals."

  16. 'That wasn't us' - new Luton boss Bloomfieldpublished at 17:27 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Luton 0-1 Millwall

Luton manager Matt Bloomfield told BBC Radio Three Counties:

“That wasn’t as good as the first two performances we’ve seen this week - they were very good in different elements but we only picked up one point and it could have been more.

"Today, that wasn't us. We were leggy and didn’t have the same energy and intensity about us, but a lot of the players who have gone again today are not used to three-game weeks.

“We made four changes and maybe could have done more to get the energy on the pitch.

“We’re disappointed. We had some big chances and it was scrappy but unfortunately for us the one quality moment was the one Millwall came up with.”

  17. Reaction from lunchtimepublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

As Alex Neil enjoyed his first three points with this new club, here are two managers still waiting for that winning feeling.

  18. No 'smash-and-grab' for Neil as Lions win at Lutonpublished at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Luton 0-1 Millwall

After claiming his first win in five league games as Millwall manager, Alex Neil told BBC Radio London:

“The result was the most important thing. But the manner in which we did it was even more important to me. It wasn’t a smash-and-grab, and it wasn’t a case of us not deserving it. We thoroughly deserved it when you think of the chances in the game.

“We missed a penalty and could have scored a second goal with a great opportunity at the back post, and when we needed to be big and strong, and win our duels, we did that.

“Everyone knows we’re light [on players] at the moment so to out in the performance we did, having missed a penalty and conceded a 97th-minute equaliser in the last game, that’s a lot of things going against you and it shows the lads’ hunger and determination to succeed."

  19. 'I am more satisfied with the character we showed'published at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Norwich City 5-1 Swansea

Norwich are up to 11th place and five points short of the play-offs with their lunchtime thrashing of Swansea.

Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"It was important to win, we've struggled a bit with energy with not too many players available.

"It was a tough game even though the scoreline says something else. I am more satisfied with the character we showed.

"The game was probably decided by the third goal for us. I am pleased we continued going. We didn't try and slow the game down, we chased the next goal.

"Josh Sargent is a quality striker. The team will always be a bit different when he is not in it."
