Mr Slot has started on the right foot with the exception of the Forest game. It's games like Wolves away that can potentially be a banana skin. C'mon Reds!

  2. 'Alexander-Arnold adds more value to Liverpool than a more defensive full-back'published at 17:21 British Summer Time

    Wolves v Liverpool (17:30 BST)

    Rory Smith
Chief Soccer Correspondent for The New York Times, on BBC's Monday Night Club

Trent Alexander-Arnold shut Rafael Leao at the San Siro. Wingers can also beat defenders at times, that's allowed to happen and it doesn't make you a bad defender.

Sometimes the guy with the ball gets past them. It's not a failure because you have been beaten once. He is not a right-footed Paolo Maldini. He is not in the team for that and what he adds to that team is worth more than having a more defensive full-back there.

Fans always find a way to complain about something. Trossard served his ban against Bolton. The schedule and who he would play next is irrelevant, nothing can change that. Simple really.

  4. Wolves still confident despite winless startpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time

    Wolves v Liverpool (17:30 BST)

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

"Stay the course" was boss Gary O'Neil's message ahead of Wolves' clash with Liverpool.

He has also written about "scrapping for everything" while still wanting to keep Wolves' style in Saturday's programme.

The confidence remains at Molineux and O'Neil said to the media on Friday he did not expect to be talking positively throughout the entire season.

Wolves' winless start is magnified by the fact it comes at the start of the season while O'Neil said it was suggested to him it had been the hardest opening - in terms of opposition - for any Premier League team.

Although, with a goal difference of -9 already having conceded 14, Wolves have not made it easy for themselves. The calamitous second half against Chelsea springs immediately to mind.

It is one thing to be confident in the process but another if the winless run continues. Keeping morale and belief high will be key.

Performances against Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle and Aston Villa have been promising and with better finishing or without individual mistakes Wolves would have more points.

They need to find a way to convert positive spells into consistent displays and while victory over Liverpool would be a shock it is clear O'Neil believes his team have it in them.

  5. 'I'm speechless'published at 17:18 British Summer Time

    FT: Chelsea 4-2 Brighton

    Theo Walcott
Former England forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

There's nothing more I can really say about Cole Palmer. I am speechless. All four goals are brilliant too.

His elegance. His beauty with the ball. His composure at such a young age. He has grown into his own at Chelsea and he is the main man. He has got a bit of finesse, Bergkamp, Van Persie about him and they weren't bad at all.

You can't leave him out of any team, and I am talking about England too.

  6. 'It was a bit of nervousness'published at 17:18 British Summer Time

    FT: Everton 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche: "It was a bit of nervousness. When you haven’t got that first win you feel nervous. Then you go 1-0 down, the stadium becomes awkward for the players.

"I spoke to them in the second half about being someone who makes a difference. It’s every person that counts, not just one.

"I thought the feel of the second half was better, not just the quality. Dwight McNeil popping up with two goals for two different reasons and some good energy in our play and the big moments went for us today."

  7. 'Alexander-Arnold will judge where Liverpool are going before making a decision'published at 17:16 British Summer Time

    Wolves v Liverpool (17:30 BST)

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in a brilliant position.

He can work under Arne Slot and judge whether he is really enjoying it and if the team is making progression, and then make a judgement off the back of that.

But he must have had his head turned somewhere but a lot depends on how he sees Liverpool performing this season and whether they are going to be major challengers.

  8. 'We didn't deserve to suffer that much but we won the game'published at 17:15 British Summer Time

    FT: Arsenal 4-2 Leicester

    Arsenal

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli: "I'm really happy with the performance, I think we deserved the win. We played really well, we suffered a bit. We didn't deserve to suffer that much but we won the game and this is the most important thing.

On scoring for the first time since March: "It's always nice to score goals and even more for us that plays up front so really happy with the goal and the assist as well."

"We have to focus on ourselves and be ready for every single game and just do our job.

On the comeback: "The whole team are ready for the game. We know how the league is and we are ready. We try to do our best and to win the games."

  9. As it stands...published at 17:14 British Summer Time

So, here we have the Premier League table as we head into the final game of the day.

Can Liverpool go top? Or can Wolves get off the bottom of the table?

  10. 'Arteta has instilled a belief they can do it'published at 17:13 British Summer Time

    FT: Arsenal 4-2 Leicester

    Theo Walcott
Former Arsenal forward on BBC Radio 5 Live

What I feel is really important is what Arsenal have learned from last year.

I feel that the crowd got them through it. The positive energy is just feeding out of the club at the moment.

It is even bigger to get the win because Man City dropped points today.

In my time there was an element of 'can we do it?' What Mikel is instilled is that belief that they will do it.

  11. 'Lots of work to be done but it's another restart'published at 17:13 British Summer Time

    FT: Everton 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Everton

Everton boss Sean Dyche: "Very pleased, a lot of hard work in the turnaround. We conceded a soft goal and we know we’ve got to correct that and we’ve done so well from that kind of situation. First phase and second phase set pieces.

"The reaction was superb, particularly second half to take the game on. Lots of work to be done of course but it's another restart for us."

  12. 'Liverpool's best ever all-time goalkeeper'published at 17:12 British Summer Time

    Wolves v Liverpool (17:30 BST)

Alisson is back in the Liverpool team today after injury.

Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart visited him this week for Football Focus.

Ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown said he is "just about Liverpool's best ever all-time goalkeeper" and added "if I could still play I would want him behind me".

  13. 'I feel really confident taking penalties'published at 17:11 British Summer Time

    FT: Newcastle 1-1 Man City

    Newcastle United

Newcastle goalscorer Anthony Gordon speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "I practice a lot. I think coming through the ranks with the England youth teams, the FA brought in a process for penalties so now I have my own process which means basically nothing else matters in that moment except my process. I take the penalty on my terms, my time and I feel really confident taking them."

"I focus on what is important. Get your process, get what works for you and take it when you're ready, not when the goalkeeper is ready of course. I do a lot of breathing techniques to zone out and focus on the ball."

On his goal changing the game: "We felt that even though they were 1-0 up at half-time and controlling it, we could get a moment and take it. Thankfully we got the penalty and scored it. It's difficult for them then because they have to react and when we have this fanbase behind us, it's difficult for the teams that come here."

  14. 'We know they are a team that creates chances'published at 17:11 British Summer Time

    FT: Newcastle 1-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Man City boss Pep Guardiola to BBC Match of the Day: "They started really well in the first minutes with the long balls behind. They have Murphy, Gordon, Barnes, Joelinton, who have pace. And after they defend so, so deep. But yes we scored a fantastic goal. We had chances to go 2-0 up but we know they are a team that creates chances and after they scored they had their moments. For 10 minutes they offered a lot with the crowd and everything. We know how they happy the crowd were to celebrate a point, but the last minutes we were there again."

On the midfield: "Are you asking about Rodri? You are the only one who has not asked me about Rodri today. They were really good. Of course the presence of Rodri is important but unfortunately until next season he will not be there. But they [Mateo Kovacic and Rico Lewis] were magnificent. Bernardo [Silva] played there as well."

On Josko Gvardiol's performance: "I did not know [he had that finishing ability]. In small spaces he is really good. His ability to turn and finish."

On Bernardo Silva's late chance: "We had a chance and Phil [Foden] as well, that ball from Bernardo to him. Pope made an incredible save so credit to him."

On Erling Haaland taking a few knocks: "That's the Premier League."

  15. 'Welcome back to reality'published at 17:11 British Summer Time

    FT: Everton 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner speaking to BBC Sport: "Big disappointment, especially because I think we lost the game with mistakes.

"Over 70-75 minutes we controlled the game but you must be focused all game. It is a big strength of Everton's in set-plays. They do it well and we defended it most of the time really well. It was always the second phase. It is important to always keep your focus high.

"We tried everything, we changed the system, brought on all our offensive players. They defended with 10 players around their box so we didn't have a lot of space so it was difficult. Today we couldn't score the equaliser. If you concede two goals it's not so easy to get a point or to win."

On still waiting for a first league win this season: "We know it when we look at the table. Maybe it is a welcome back to reality. Maybe we were flying too high after a great finish to the season. The Premier League is a fight."

Arsenal were probably the better team on the day, but I can't help feeling the powers that be will be happy with that score line. There was some dubious decisions leading to the goals against Leicester. Maybe, we'd have been better off taking the three points!

    Joe, Leicester fan

Typical, big teams benefit from the ridiculous red card rule. Trossard serves a one game ban against Bolton… then scores two today.

  17. 'We know the most important thing is winning games'published at 17:10 British Summer Time

    FT: Everton 2-1 Crystal Palace

    Everton

More from Everton winger Dwight McNeil: "We’ve been playing well but the results haven’t been showing that. We know the most important thing is winning games.

"First half we weren’t quite on it but I thought in the second half we were on it from the start. We got the three points we know we needed and now its about building that confidence and belief as a group going forward. It’s been a tough start for us.

"We played well in some games but never took our chances but I think today, especially in that second half we defended really well. No we’ve just got to step on and take it forward into the game next week."

  18. 'Arsenal deserved to win by a country mile'published at 17:09 British Summer Time

    FT: Arsenal 4-2 Leicester

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

There are a multitude of storylines here. Arsenal deserved to win by a country mile but couldn't put Leicester away.

Leicester didn't get that many chances but made the best of them. If you create that many chances and put that much pressure on with corners at the back post, eventually that creaking back door falls in.

Today you would have been shocked if Leicester had won at the end. Arsenal found that ugly way to get the three points.

  19. 'We have got to step on'published at 17:09 British Summer Time

Everton winger Dwight McNeil: "Massive, especially at home, to get three points on the board. It’s been a tough start for us.

"We played well in some games but never took our chances but I think today, especially in that second half we defended really well. Now we’ve just got to step on and take it forward into the game next week."

When does Trossard's suspension start? Seems unfair he is playing today?

He served his one-game ban in the Carabao Cup win against Bolton Wanderers in midweek.
