    Watford 0-0 WBA

Cagey start as you might expect from two sides looking to improve their play-off chances.

But there's a first attempt on goal, folks.

Nice play from Kwadwo Baah who picks the ball up in space on the right, and drives the visitors. It ends with an effort on goal, but it's collected with comfort by Baggies keeper Alex Palmer.

  2. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Watford 0-0 WBA

Whistle blows early as Hornets skipper Moussa Sissoko is fouled on the edge of his own box.

Then an early scare as Watford forward Vakoun Bayo goes down holding his head. But relief as the Ivorian gets back to his feet.

Watford boss Tom Cleverley has shuffled his pack, with four of the side which drew away to Hull on Wednesday dropping to the bench - Tom Ince, Edo Kayembe, Francisco Sierralta and Yasser Larouci.

Skipper Moussa Sissoko steps back into midfield with Rocco Vata, while defender James Morris and striker Kwadwo Baah also come in.

West Brom make two changes from the side which beat Coventry in midweek.

Kyle Bartley returns to the starting XI as captain, alongside Uros Racic in midfield, while Alex Mowatt - a scorer on Wednesday - and forward Mikey Johnston drop to the bench.

Watford: Bachmann, Ngakia, Porteous, Pollock, Chakvetadze, Louza, Vata, Sissoko (c), Bayo, Morris, Baah.

Substitutes: Bond, Sierralta, Ince, Dwomoh, Jebbison, Ebosele, Larouci, Kayembe, Andrews.

WBA: Palmer, Furlong, Holgate, Bartley (c), Heggem, Styles, Fellows, Racic, Molumby, Grant, Maja.

Substitutes: Wildsmith, Wallace, Swift, Diakite, Dobbin, Johnston, Mowatt, Frabotta, Cole.

A quick sideways glance at the table would be good enough to tell you the Baggies have made themselves a tough side to beat this season.

They head to Hertfordshire on a 12-match unbeaten run which stretches all the way back to 1 October and their sole home defeat of the season to Middlesbrough.

The one frustration for Albion supporters will be that 10 matches in that impressive run have ended in draws, a stat which has denied Carlos Corberan’s side from putting more pressure on the top two.

Albion have lost once on the road in the league this season - the best record of any Championship side - with five of their past six ending in stalemate.

While goals have been hard to come by at the Hawthorns this campaign, the net has been easier to find on their travels - 15 of their 23 goals have come away from home.

They can thank Tom Fellows for a good portion of that - the midfielder has six assists on the road, teeing up Josh Maja for four, and hooking up twice with Karlan Grant.

The Baggies snapped a run of four straight draws on Wednesday as Alex Mowatt and Karlan Grant goals inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Frank Lampard's Coventry.

    What odds on another stalemate?

Watford sit handily placed in eighth and a win today would leapfrog them above Albion into seventh place and level on points with Middlesbrough in the final Championship play-off spot.

The Hornets are defending an unbeaten 13-match run at Vicarage Road in the league, and if their away form was anything like their home results, Tom Cleverley’s side would be tucked snugly in the automatic promotion pack instead of chasing the tails of play-off contenders.

They’ve won seven of their nine matches this term on familiar home turf, picking up 23 of a possible 27 points, compared with eight points from 10 matches on the road.

Coventry were the last side to win in the Hornets’ nest, way back on 9 March, so can their West Midland rivals Albion repeat the trick?

Watford kick off today unbeaten in five matches, but with one win from their past four.

The Championship league table before kick-off on 15 December

Victory for West Brom today would move them back into the play-off spots above Middlesbrough in sixth.

Meanwhile, a win for Watford would put them level on points with Boro, but unless they win by nine goals, they will move up to seventh.

Burnley watched on as Sheffield United and Sunderland both won yesterday, but they could go back above the Black Cats with a victory today and make up some ground on Leeds, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Preston.

And for Norwich, there's plenty of work to do but three points today would certainly put them back within touching distance of the top six.

As is par for the Championship course, we've had plenty of thrills and spills this weekend.

Derby County kicked things off on Friday night by thumping Portsmouth in an important clash in the bottom half of the table.

Then on Saturday, Leeds United left it very late to rescue a point at Preston North End, while fellow promotion-chasers Sunderland produced an incredible comeback after going two behind at Swansea City to win 3-2.

Sheffield United extended their lead at the top, Blackburn Rovers won their sixth game on the bounce, and Neil Harris' final game in charge of Millwall ended in a narrow defeat at Middlesbrough.
