Both players will be thinking they have a good chance to be in the next England squad.

Both of these teams know how important three points would be in their push for Europe. You get the sense neither wants to overcommit in the early stages.

Unsurprisingly, it's been all Liverpool from kick-off and Curtis Jones goes so, so close to breaking the deadlock from about 15 yards.

It has been an eventful start at Selhurst Park.

Eddie Nketiah, making his first Premier League start for Crystal Palace since November, runs onto a delightful pass from Adam Wharton, but Alex Palmer comes off his line to make a great save.

Moments later, Dean Henderson dives low to deny Jaden Philogene at the other end.

Both of these teams are doing well and whoever wins it will feel like they are right in the mix for a top-five finish.

Brighton are on their best run of the season and have won five games in a row since their 7-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest, while Fulham have won four of their past five away league games.

You could make a case for both teams, but that does not really help me to make a prediction, does it?

Fulham won the reverse fixture 3-1, in December, but the Seagulls were having a bit of a wobble at that point and clearly their form is very different now.

I feel like anything could happen here so there is no science behind this prediction, but I am going to go with my instincts.

My gut feeling is that we will get a winner... and I am picking Brighton to take the points.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest goalscorer Callum Hudson-Odoi, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “It is crazy [in the dressing room]. A result like that against an amazing team is amazing for us. You could see through the game that we battled and fought for every ball. We had opportunities and took one. The changing room is going crazy.

“It is a significant win but it is also another win. Every game is game by game and we have to try and take three points. We know where we are in the table but it is important to remain humble but also excited about what’s to come. We know we are getting closer and we are buzzing about that."

On scoring the winner: " It was an amazing pick up from Morgan and amazing switch into the open space. It was an opportunity to do my thing and it came off perfectly."

On progress at Forest: "I don't think I could have [seen this] especially when you look at last season. It was a bit difficult and we were struggling to get wins. Now everything is flowing perfectly. I am buzzing being here. I love the energy from the crowd, staff members, players... and I am enjoying my football here. I think this is the best atmosphere. The energy they give every game...I am buzzing to play in front of them."

This is Liverpool's only Premier League game in March due to their appearance in next week's Carabao Cup final, the first international break of the calendar year and the FA Cup quarter-finals at the end of the month.

Crystal Palace

One player whose absence will be felt today is Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta.

No player has scored more in the Premier League in 2025 than the Frenchman, who has eight goals this year from just 12 shots on target.

However, Oliver Glasner will be without Mateta against Ipswich after the striker needed 25 stitches after being kicked in the head by Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts in the FA Cup last week.

"I think his mother has come over from France and she is taking care of him, so he is in the best hands. When your mother looks after you, it is the best thing you can have," Glasner said.

Mateta is expected to be available after the international break - which runs from 17-25 March - as the Eagles head to Marbella for a warm-weather training camp after today's game.

Manchester City

Man City boss Pep Guardiola to BBC Match of the Day: "Tight game, we controlled the long balls to [Chris] Wood and second balls in transition. But in second half we lost once in transition and Callum Hudson-Odoi finished it really well.

"It is not easy to play against them. That is why they are where they are. We had three or four chances in the first half. Second half it was a bit more tight. We concede one chance in the near post, so in the end the balance was for them."

On the pace of City's play in the second half: "Yes it was slow. We struggled to break the lines and find spaces."

There is always hope but I don't think Ipswich will get it done. They will get relegated. Ipswich just don't have enough quality to stay in the Premier League.

It is very tight at the bottom of the table but looking at West Ham, Everton and Wolves they have the better squads and teams.
