Jordan Pickford comes to Everton's rescue.

15 minutes in and Wolves now have their first shot of the game as Rayan Ait-Nouri races forward and shoots from the edge of the box.

But it takes a deflection off James Tarkowski and goes behind for a corner kick.

Abdoulaye Doucoure anticipates where the ball is going to land but Wolves have just enough bodies in the way, including Emmanuel Agbadou.

The first clear chance of the game falls for Everton and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Can Everton break the 8pm jinx tonight?

They have won just one of their past 10 Premier League games kicking off at 20:00 or later (D5 L4) with that win coming in last season’s Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

It's an early free-kick for Everton and it is delivered into the box aimed at James Tarkowski.

But the Toffees captain crashes in to Marshall Munetsi and the free-kick goes in Wolves' favour.

I don't think Everton are fearing the drop to be honest. This could have been a horrendous game for their fans to come to if they were near the relegation zone.

Wolves however are struggling to respond to adversity and in front of their own fans this would be a good moment to kickstart this group of games.

This is a battle between two sides who sit just above the relegation zone.

But Everton start the game 10 points clear of 17th-placed Wolves.

And away we go!

I keep on expecting Everton to slip up under David Moyes but it has not happened yet.

Since losing his first game back in charge, against Aston Villa, Moyes has won four and drawn three in the Premier League, which is seriously impressive.

Bearing that in mind, I am not going to predict an Everton defeat here, but this game smells of a draw to me, even though Wolves will be without the suspended Matheus Cunha.

Wolves are five points ahead of Ipswich and Leicester, who are 18th and 19th, so they do have some breathing space above the bottom three.

Five points feels like a massive advantage at the moment, but we will find out over the next few weeks exactly how much Cunha has cost them in their fight against relegation.

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira speaking to TNT Sports: "I am only looking at our game. I feel the team has a positive spirit and a good energy and everybody is ready to do their best. I believe that today with the support of our fans we will play a good game and win a very important three points.

"It is important to understand that the players are coming back from injuries and they are solutions off the bench. But it takes time to get the rhythm.

"Matheus [Cunha] is an important player but we have quality as a team and I am confident in our tactical organisation and spirit.

"[Agbadou] is important because sometimes we want to press higher and at the back we go man to man and he has the skills to control these situations. I believe he can help us."

Everton

Everton boss David Moyes speaking to TNT Sports: "We are hoping that we can avoid the bottom three teams in the league, we dont want to be near the bottom. The players have done incredibly well and we have made a good start. Long may that continue.

"After 7 games if you are getting wins and draws and considering where we are in the league then you can say that there is consistency there. But you can only think about the next game. Every point we pick up is hugely important."

Both sets of players are making their way out onto the pitch at Molineux and we are now moments away from kick-off in Saturday's final Premier League fixture.

Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank, speaking to Sky Sports: “They went 1-0 up, getting the margin you need, via a deflection. From that moment to Ollie Watkins’ [second half] chance, we were completely on top.

“We created many dangerous situations without really having the margins. I’m really pleased with my team – especially in the second half, I feel we deserved more than we got. We played with great intensity, played forward and put them under pressure.”

“Of course we dream and want to end as high as possible. You could see [Villa] felt the pressure because they had to win. They have signed five great players [in the winter transfer window] – that’s what we’re competing against.”

On Brentford’s penalty appeals: “[Axel Disasi’s foul on Kevin Schade] is a big, big penalty. I don’t understand how VAR can’t overturn it. Disasi clearly took Schade out. The second one was on a softer side, but you can’t go through the back of a player. I maybe understand that one a bit more, but the first one is a penalty.”

Brentford's Keane Lewis-Potter to Sky Sports: "We deserved something from the game. The lads' heads are down in there. It is disappointing.

"In this league if you switch off you get punished. We tried to get back into the game, created chances, but it wasn't to be."

On two penalty shouts: "The first one is definitely a penalty. He clears him out. I have spoken to lads who have seen it back and it is a pen. VAR need to check that. Why would I lie about a blatant pen like that?"
