GOAL: Crawley 0-1 Boltonpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 28 September

    Kyle Dempsey (5 mins)

We have our first goal of the afternoon!

Kyle Dempsey has been brought back in by Ian Evatt and it only takes five minutes to justify the decision.

It's a well worked short corner by Jos Sheehan as it's fired low to Dempsey around the penalty spot and he drills it low past Jojo Wollacott.

    Bolton lead in sunny Sussex!

Jack Muldoon is not going to get a better opportunity this afternoon.

It was six, but goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has had to pull out after the warm-up, with Jacob Chapman stepping up to take his place.

    Here we go...

The first of three lots of kick-off games across the EFL today.

    Reading v Huddersfield (12:30 BST)

A meeting between Reading and Huddersfield automatically evokes memories of their most famous clash in 2017 under the Wembley arch.

That day, David Wagner's Terriers prevailed in a penalty shoot-out to win the Championship play-off final and secure Premier League football.

In May 2023, Huddersfield's late charge under Neil Warnock kept them up in the second tier at the Royals' expense.

But the reprieve was temporary as both sides now reside in the third tier. In fact, it's a first meeting at this level between the pair since 2002.

Reading's ownership troubles rumble on, Huddersfield have lost three in four - three points are needed for both, but how they long for better days.

  10. Is Bolton's play-off hangover finally over?published at 12:26 British Summer Time 28 September

    Crawley v Bolton (12:30 BST)

This is a meeting between two clubs still defined by one Wembley weekend back in May.

For Crawley, it was their unexpected League Two triumph over Crewe Alexandra and a return to this level for the first time since 2015.

The only trouble is that there has been a drain of talent from that afternoon, marked this week by manager Scott Lindsey dropping down a division to take the MK Dons job.

Bolton's Wembley experience was one of crushing disappointment in losing to Oxford United and the hangover has been a bad one.

A run of three straight league defeats was only ended by a thumping 5-2 win over Reading last Saturday.

Was that the start of the recovery or temporary respite from their Wembley woes?

  11. Alexander not so great awaypublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 28 September

Harrogate Town v Bradford City (12:30 BST)

Graham Alexander's Bradford have lost their last two games on the road to Grimsby and Walsall respectively which is as many losses as they had suffered in their previous ten away matches.

Their goalless draw with AFC Wimbledon last week came at the cost of losing Joe Adams to a cruciate ligament injury after just 18 minutes of the midfielder's league debut for Bradford.

With home attendances averaging north of 16,500 this is Bradford's sixth successive season in League Two.

  12. Harrogate look to weave some home magicpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 28 September

There is something curious about Harrogate's results this season - when they win they don't concede and when they lose they don't score.

Simon Weaver's side are one point better off than at the same stage last season but home fans have been starved of success with more points coming on the road so far which is exactly what happened for the entirety of the last campaign.

Having won their first four league games against Bradford, Harrogate have only tasted victory once in the subsequent four meetings.

  13. Struggles away from home? U's better believe it...published at 12:20 British Summer Time 28 September

Walsall v Colchester United (12:30 BST)

Colchester head coach Danny CowleyImage source, Rex Features

Colchester's last win at Walsall came back in May 2014 and since then there have been three defeats and three draws.

It is not just in the midlands where Danny Cowley's side have found it tough to gather points away from home as they have just one victory from 11 attempts and only one clean sheet in the past 18 road trips.

In their last away game the U's managed to throw away a 3-1 lead to 10-man and winless Morecambe but recovered from that with a home win against MK Dons in the EFL Trophy and an impressive 3-0 victory over Tranmere in League Two.

  14. Saddlers riding highpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 28 September

Walsall v Colchester United (12:30 BST)

    Walsall' stadiumImage source, Getty Images

Three successive home wins would suggest Walsall fans are getting a bargain at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Morecambe, Cheltenham and Bradford have all come unstuck in the midlands, backed-up by wins at Swindon and Salford.

Premier League Leicester found out what a tough place it is to visit as they needed penalties to make EFL Cup progress at Walsall's expense in midweek.

Mat Sadler's team have won nine of their past 12 games at home, tasting defeat just twice and victory today would see them top the table for a few hours at least.
