Barrow have just played with a higher tempo and been first to everything so far.

    Notts have look sluggish.

At the moment it's all Barrow they've definitely been the better team.

Tomoki Iwata's early volley was the August deadline signing's fourth goal for Blues

What a start that was for Birmingham City - comfortably their earliest goal of the season and an absolute stunner too.

You just can't volley a ball any sweeter than Tomoki Iwata did with his left foot - and you get the impression that the Blues fans are still quietly purring about it.

It has actually gone rather silent since - and the Bolton fans are singing songs about St Andrew's being a "library". That's what happens when teams go top of the league and wins start becoming almost matter of fact.

But Bolton have already shown they are no mugs going forward - and the hosts cannot afford to switch off.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 20:09 British Summer Time 22 October 2024

    Birmingham 1-0 Bolton

Emil Hansson is down injured and it's not looking good.

Blues have to make an early switch as Marc Leonard joins the fray.

No hangover for Peterborough after their loss to Wycombe on the weekend.

The Posh have made a flying start to their game against Blackpool. Malik Mothersille is the first to get on the scoresheet then swiftly joined by Joel Randall to make it 2-0.

Wycombe are ahead against winless Burton after Gideon Kodua scores his first goal for the Chairboys in their encounter.

All quiet in the other seven games but don't expect it to stay that way.

    Wrexham 0-0 Huddersfield

Very even-stevens early on in north Wales as they feel each other out.

Probably a sign that these are two sides who expect to be up there challenging in League One this season.

Notts have been very very lucky there, that looked to be a penalty,

Too much playing around at the back. I think Notts have got away with one there.

    Tomoki Iwata (3 mins)

What a way to start the game!

Alfie May crosses the ball into the box, finding the head of a Bolton defender but the ball doesn't go far.

It lands to the feet of Tomoki Iwata, who composes himself ready to unleash an almighty strike. Bolton keeper Luke Southwood leapt across but no-one could get to that rocket.

Beautiful goal and the party at St Andrew's has already begun.
