This is not going to be an easy game because there's three or four teams breathing down FCSB's neck - they have to win.

I have no idea what way this is going to go.

Liking Amorim more with each passing day. I've been waiting 12 years for someone connected with United to even come close to hinting that it's time to leave the past behind and move on. The Ferguson era was glorious. But it came to an end in 2013. It's time to look forward at long last

  4. Who are Elfsborg?published at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Tottenham v Elfsborg (20:00 GMT)

Elfsborg are a Swedish side based in Boras who play in the Allsvenskan - Sweden's top flight.

Last campaign they finished seventh in the league and qualified for the Europa League through the qualifying rounds, impressively beating Norwegian outfit Molde to progress to the league phase.

It is their first time competing in the competition since 2013-14.

Elfsborg currently sit 20th in the Europa League with three wins, three losses and one draw. They are not safe from elimination, though, and will be looking for a result against Spurs.

Former Sweden midfielder Oscar Hiljemark is the manager and has guided the team to wins over Roma, Qarabag and Nice this campaign.

  5. 'It's a very physical team'published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Rangers v Union Saint-Gilloise (20:00 GMT)

Rangers boss Philippe Clement has had his say on Rangers' opponents Union Saint-Gilloise tonight.

"Yeah, it's a tough team to beat. It's a very physical team. They play on the front foot, they play always with two strikers, one very creative guy behind, they play with wing-backs who are very offensive.

"They're very fast in transitions, really good on set-pieces. They're very direct in their play also, but they can keep also the ball into the midfield. So, there are a lot of good qualities there."

  6. Can Rangers squeeze into top eight?published at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Rangers v Union Saint-Gilloise (20:00 GMT)

Rangers are playing tonight - and you could follow a dedicated live text of their game via our BBC Scotland colleagues.

We will also be bringing you goal updates from Ibrox here.

A win at home to Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise would guarantee the Scots a seeded play-off spot.

Three points could be enough to clinch a top-eight place but not very likely because of the amount of teams they'd need to slip up.

Union Saint-Gilloise - who are sister clubs with Brighton - are level on points with Rangers so have the same permutations really.

For the fans it must feel a little bit like being caught in purgatory.

Tottenham are 15th in the Premier League, which is difficult to believe, but this season is clearly unravelling at speed - but when you demand change from the board, I'm not quite sure what that change looks like.

Do you want the club to be sold? Do you want to be owned by a nation state? Do you want to be at the mercy of some 'San Francisco finance bro?'

It strikes me that what Spurs want and need more than anything is a change of culture - they look at a squad decimated by injuries in January and they put £30 - 40 million into it to get through to the end of the season rather than always trying to survive on a shoestring."

  8. Unbeaten Spurs need a winpublished at 19:48 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Tottenham v Elfsborg (20:00 GMT)

Spurs are unbeaten in 16 home games in all European competitions (W13 D3) since losing 1-0 to RB Leipzig in February 2020.

However, three of their past five have ended as draws - as many as in their previous 45 combined.

And they are on a seven-match winless run in the Premier League.

Tonight, they need a win to guarantee their automatic progression to the last-16.

  9. Postecoglou 'is a fighter and grafter'published at 19:47 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Tottenham v Elfsborg (20:00 GMT)

This week BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club discussed growing pressure on Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou.

Former England captain Steph Houghton says it is "getting tougher" for Postecoglou to turn the situation at the club around.

Chris Sutton argues that Postecoglou 'is a fighter and a grafter' and will want to turn things around.

  10. 'We can do big things in these last four months'published at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Tottenham v Elfsborg (20:00 GMT)

Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski says manager Ange Postecoglou retains the backing of the players and is the "right man" for the club.

Kulusevski, 24, has been Spurs' outstanding performer this season, scoring nine times in 36 appearances.

Australian boss Postecoglou has come under pressure following a dismal run of results and said after a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Sunday that he was unsure over his future at the club.

But the former Celtic boss has made the case that Tottenham could finish the season with "something special" given they remain in three cup competitions: the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Europa League.

"I agree with him," Kulusevski said. "I think we can do big things in these last four months."

If Tottenham play striker Dane Scarlett tonight then he won't be able to move club again during this winter transfer window.

Spurs recalled Scarlett from Championship side Oxford United due to a lack of game time earlier this month.

However, he is highly rated in north London and they will seek to send him somewhere else to further his development.

Ange Postecoglou might need to make a firm decision about whether he wants him around or on loan - as Fifa rules dictate players can only play for two clubs during a single season - so any minutes for his parent club would rule out a loan move before deadline day.

  12. Is Postecoglou or Levy to blame for Spurs' slump?published at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Tottenham v Elfsborg (20:00 GMT)

There's been a lot of noise around Tottenham this week following their 2-1 loss to Leicester in the Premier League last time out.

That defeat left them 15th and on a seven-match winless run in the league.

The mood inside the Tottenham Hotspur stadium turned toxic at full-time against the Foxes but boss Ange Postecoglou was not the only one bearing the brunt of the supporters' rage, as fans made their feelings clear towards chairman Daniel Levy.

So what's the problem? Is it Postecoglou? Or is it the owners?

  13. It's not all bad...published at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Tottenham v Elfsborg (20:00 GMT)

It's not all bad for Tottenham.

Although their league form has been less than encouraging, they remain in all three cup competitions.

They face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg next week with a 1-0 advantage after the home leg.

They're on course to finish inside the top eight of the Europa League and therefore qualify automatically for the last-16.

And they're still in the FA Cup, despite needing extra time to overcome non-league Tamworth in the third round.

Are those positives keeping Ange Postecoglou in a job?

  14. The doom and gloom...published at 19:44 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

    Tottenham v Elfsborg (20:00 GMT)

    After Sunday's defeat:

    • Spurs are 15th in the Premier League, collecting 24 points from 23 matches.
    • They are eight points above the relegation zone and are closer to bottom place Southampton (18 points) than they are to league leaders Liverpool (27 points)
    • They have won just one of their past 11 Premier League matches, winning one, drawing one and losing nine. They have taken four points from the last 33 available.
    • Tottenham have failed to win any of their past seven Premier League matches - their longest winless streak in the top flight since a nine-game run in 2008.
    • The defeat against Leicester was the first time since a loss to Notts County in 1912 that Spurs have lost at home to a side who had lost their previous seven league matches in a row.

  16. Who are FCSB?published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

FCSB v Man Utd (20:00 GMT)

Right, this is a complicated one.

Steaua Bucharest were formed in 1947 as an army club in communist Romania.

But in 2017 it was deemed that George Becali's takeover of the club in 2013 was invalid - as a court ruled the Steaua brand was still owned by the Ministry of Defence.

So they changed their name to FCSB.

But at the same time a new Steaua Bucharest, who are run by the Ministry of Defence, popped up.

Both clubs claim the 1986 European Cup, 21 league titles and 20 Romanian Cups that Steaua won between 1947 and 2013.

The club called Steaua Bucharest now are second in the second tier - so could end up in the same league as FCSB next season.

We had a feature on it in 2022 - if you want to read more of the background - but some of the facts may be outdated now.

I think managing Tottenham is a test of character for any manager - [it is] just the way it turns out to be. You look at the people that have been in before.

Everybody will expect that the manager is the one who has to hold responsibility and whatever the players do on the pitch, it comes down to him.

With the players we've had at our disposal, some of the teams we've lost to, we should have been capable of beating those teams.

  18. United's left-back options increasingpublished at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

FCSB v Man Utd (20:00 GMT)

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw returned to group training yesterday.

Shaw featured in Ruben Amorim's first three matches in charge, before an injury setback that has kept him out since the start of December.

Meanwhile, the club are close to signing Lecce and Denmark left-back Patrick Dorgu, 20.

    Right-footed Diogo Dalot has been Amorim's first-choice left-back recently.

  20. 'To compete with these teams you have to be perfect'published at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January

FCSB v Man Utd (20:00 GMT)

FCSB need to play the "perfect game" if they are to get a surprise Europa League win against Manchester United, says head coach Elias Charalambous.

Both teams are already guaranteed to progress to play-offs but Thursday's final match in the new-look league phase offers them the chance to seal a place in the last 16.

"We know that in these kind of games, especially with Manchester United, to win the game we have to make everything perfect, and this is the way that we can win these kind of games," Charalambous said.

"We have to be in our best shape, to eliminate our mistakes and to make a perfect game in order to win these three points that are the target for tomorrow."

FCSB are the reigning Romanian champions and currently sit second in this season's SuperLiga as they welcome a United side looking to win a third straight match.

Despite Ruben Amorim's recent comments suggesting this United team are "maybe the worst" in the club's history, Charalambous still expects a tough challenge.

"Manchester United is always Manchester United," he added. "A huge club and for sure you know very well that especially in the Premier League all the games are equal.

"I believe that this doesn't have anything to do with us tomorrow because we know very well that the game will be very hard. And, I repeat, to compete with these teams you have to be perfect."
