    Oxford United 0-0 Stoke

Very low-key start in the glorious September sunshine at the Kassam.

Not a hint of action in the final third at either end in the opening seven minutes, they are getting back into their stride after the international break.

Stoke keeper Viktor Johansson played a couple of games for Sweden over the break and is celebrating his 26th birthday today.

A terrible mistake at the back and a huge get out of jail free card for Burnley.

In theory they should be 1-0 down.

But its a stinking finish from Mateo Joseph.

If Oxford United's Mark Harris scores today he will become the first player in 20 years of Championship history to score in each of his side’s first five games of a campaign.

The Championship's player of the month for August is already one of just two players to have ever scored in a newly-promoted club's first four matches of a Championship season, after Lyle Taylor did so for Charlton in 2019/20.

Harris has been so prolific for Oxford that only Erling Haaland has scored more in 2024 across England’s top four tiers with 20 goals, than he has with 16.

His goal scoring has also caught the eye of Wales boss Craig Bellamy, who called Harris into the squad for last week's Nations League games against Turkey and Montenegro.

"It's great, I'm enjoying my football," Harris told BBC Radio Oxford.

"At the minute I’m playing with freedom and confidence and enjoying myself.

"Hopefully now we can carry on as a team and individually with the belief we have."

    Adam Pope
    BBC Radio Leeds commentator

Liam Cooper was always great with us, which you expect from a captain.

Personally a great guy, a really decent guy.

He was no different when he wasn't in the side to when he was.

But he totally understood his players, totally understood the team he was playing for and the fans that he was playing for as well. He really got the club, from top to bottom.

The Whites announced earlier this week that Cooper had left the club after a 10-year spell at Elland Road.

  8. Luton switch it up while Millwall stickpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 14 September

    Millwall v Luton (12:30 BST)

Millwall are unchanged from the side that beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 before the international break.

Goal scorers Josh Coburn, Duncan Watmore and Jake Cooper all make the starting line-up as they seek the cheers from the stands once again.

Rob Edwards shifts his squad to a 3-4-2-1 formation as he searches for his best starting XI.

Teden Mengi comes into the side to complete a back three as Marvelous Nakamba and Liam Walsh link up in midfield.

James Clark is in ahead of Carlton Morris, who drops to the bench to keep new signing former-Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses company.

  9. Four changes apiecepublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 14 September

Oxford United v Stoke (12:30 BST)

Des Buckingham has rung the changes for Oxford.

Joe Bennett is out for the year with an injury picked up in the win against Preston and he and Matt Phillips miss out while Sam Long and Ruben Rodrigues drop to the bench, with Siriki Dembele, Idris El Mizouni, Greg Leigh and Elliot Moore all starting.

Steven Schumacher makes four changes to his XI with deadline day arrival from Leicester, Tom Cannon, starting up front while 17-year-old Sol Sidibe is handed a first league start in midfield - he has quite a reputation already, so looking forward to this.

Lynden Gooch and Ben Gibson also start with Andrew Moran, Lewis Koumas and Ashley Phillips dropping to the bench and Ryan Mmaee having joined Rapid Vienna since their last match.

Elsewhere, we'll be bringing you updates from the other 12:30 kick-offs in the EFL...

Cambridge United head to mid-table Mansfield Town as the U's try to get their first League One win of the season. Three losses from their opening four games has left them one point from bottom.

Meanwhile, there isn't much on the line for Northampton Town and Wycombe Wanderers as they meet in the East Midlands. An average start for both has seen just one win in their opening fixtures.

In League Two, play-off chasing AFC Wimbledon have started strong chalking up nine points out of a possible 12. Victory against MK Dons could see them jump from seventh to top of the table before the rest of today's games begin.

A win for Newport County could also see them jump to the top of the league, leaving visitors Swindon Town to enjoy another week just above the drop zone.

  12. Looking back on when they last met...published at 12:17 British Summer Time 14 September

Oxford United v Stoke (12:30 BST)

Incredibly, due to both clubs climbing up and down the league ladder, this is the first meeting between Oxford United and Stoke in any competition since a 1-1 league draw in February 2001.

The Us were still playing at the Manor Ground in those days while a fresh-faced Atomic Kitten topped the charts with Whole Again and Lennox Lewis was heavyweight champion of the world.

The Potters have never won a league match on the road against Oxford United, picking up just two points from their seven matches.

They face a challenge if they are to break that run this afternoon – Des Buckingham's men have taken 16 points from their past seven home games, including winning both home games since promotion to the Championship.

Steven Schumacher’s side have a bit of form themselves, however, with five wins in their last seven, all of them without conceding.

This should be a good one...

  13. Floundering Luton look to end winless streakpublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 14 September

    Millwall v Luton (12:30 BST)

Since 2004, the fewest points earned by a freshly relegated Championship team in the first five league games is one. That happens to be the amount Luton Town have as they head to the Den for their fifth match of the season.

The good news for the Hatters is that they are facing a side that are offering up attacking opportunities on a platter.

Millwall have the lowest pass accuracy of any Championship side - 70.6% to be exact - while midfielder Ryan Leonard has took 20 throw-ins that have ended up in the opposition's final third, the most of any player in the league.

Luton boss Rob Edwards will surely be playing for the win, having only won one of their last 21 league games, but one more point will prevent them from joining Fulham and Huddersfield on the 'worst starts from relegated teams' list.

Can the Hatters avoid being part of a dismal statistic? Of the last 10 league meetings between the two sides, seven have ended in draws. There are worse odds.

  14. Will Clarets stain Whites' unbeaten start?published at 12:11 British Summer Time 14 September

    Leeds v Burnley (12:30 BST)

Much was made of Leeds' slow start to the season after they drew their opening two league games following the departures of a number of last season's star players.

However, the Whites, beaten in last season's play-off final, have subsequently responded with successive wins and have kept clean sheets in their past three.

Burnley made a great start under new boss Scott Parker with 4-1 and 5-0 successes in their opening two but slipped to a 1-0 loss by high-flying Sunderland and were held to a 1-1 draw by bitter rivals Blackburn last time out.

Oddly, Parker's men are the joint-highest scorers in the league this season but only three teams have attempted fewer shots.

These two are expected to be right at the top of the Championship come May and a win for either here in September could prove to be very valuable indeed.

Sheffield United kicked-off the EFL weekend with a Yorkshire derby win at Hull City with Gus Hamer, right, scoring the opening goal

Sheffield United struck twice on the counter-attack to heap more woe on new Hull boss Tim Walter last night in the first Championship game of the weekend.

Gus Hamer and sub Sam McCallum produced fine angled finishes to cap lightning breaks in either half, both emanating from City corners.

You can click here to read Ian Woodcock's match report.

The visitors' fourth straight win in this fixture took the Blades up to third, despite their two-point deduction for breaching EFL payment regulations.

The Tigers remain winless, and are now without a goal in three games.

Loads to be going at so let's get started.
