That's as far as we go in here today after another enthralling afternoon of EFL action.

Plymouth claimed their first league win under Wayne Rooney to end Sunderland's 100% start to the Championship season with a dramatic 3-2 win at Home Park and Blackburn moved up to second with a 3-0 cruise against Bristol City.

In League One, Charlton moved up to second with a 1-0 win at lowly Shrewsbury and in League Two Notts County lead the way after coming back from 2-0 down to beat Bromley 4-2.

We'll be back tomorrow with live text coverage of West Brom's game against Portsmouth in the Championship.

    Cheers!

  2. 'We need to learn'published at 17:57 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Plymouth 3-2 Sunderland

Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris told BBC Radio Newcastle:

"We scored twice and away it's never easy to score and we did it.

"But even during the first half when we thought we controlled the game, there was something in behind that we were not in our best shape today and we conceded to make it 2-1 and we had the strength to come back.

"So we can say that was a good part at the end of the game, but at the end we conceded that third goal, so for us we are disappointed.

"But we know that it's a process, it's still a young team, it's still a team who need to learn and today it was a new experience."

  3. 'One point gained,' says Cleverleypublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Watford 1-1 Coventry

Watford head coach Tom Cleverley said it was “one point gained and not two dropped” after the Hornets came from a goal behind against Coventry to earn a 1-1 draw at Vicarage Road this afternoon.

“I think it was a stereotypical Championship game, a game of two halves. Probably a fair result,” Cleverley told BBC Three Counties Radio.

“I think both managers will see it as a point gained and not two lost because both managers will feel like they could have lost that game. A lot of bones to pick out of that one.

“The worrying thing for me as a coach is why have we conceded such good quality of chances as well. We knew they’ve crossed the ball more than any team in the division. I’m disappointed at how many crosses we let into our box.

“I thought we lost too many first and second contacts in the first half. Second half we played with the handbrake off, nothing to lose and controlled the ball and stuck to the gameplan. But we don’t want to be chasing games every week.”

Well, what a weekend of Championship action that was, can't believe it's over... wait, there's more?

Oh yes. We might have seen 22 of the 24 Championship teams do battle over the past 24 hours but they were a mere appetiser for the Sunday feast that is Pompey against West Brom.

John Mousinho's newly-promoted side are winless, though with three draws in their first four games, while Carlos Corberan's Baggies are unbeaten, with 10 points from a possible 12.

Two of England's grand old teams go head to head at Fratton Park tomorrow afternoon and of course we will be right here to bring you every ooh and ahh from 14:45 BST.

  5. Rovers got their rewards - Eustacepublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Blackburn 3-0 Bristol City

Blackburn manager John Eustace told BBC Radio Lancashire:

“It was a really good performance from the squad, which is the most important thing, great to get a clean sheet and nice to win at home.

“I told the boys at half time we were fairly dominant but had to be more clinical in the final third and they agreed with that.

“There was a moment where (Aynsley) Pearsy pulled off a fantastic save and we had the boys throwing their bodies on the line, defending the box for their lives, so they really earned the clean sheet.”

  6. Robins 'not good enough' - Manningpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Blackburn 3-0 Bristol City

Bristol City coach Liam Manning told BBC Radio Bristol:

“It wasn’t good enough. We didn’t start the game with the intensity and the buzz I expect of us.

“I hadn’t expected it as the lads have been terrific in training, but you then have to step on the pitch when you’ve got an opposition that are well-organised and set up to try to stop you.

“The big bit for me is about the basics of the game and we didn’t do that well enough - we didn’t win enough duels, didn’t land on enough seconds and didn’t work hard enough as a team to stick together in tough moments.

“From the first three games, in terms of how we performed, you know it’s in the lads, then you wonder why we didn’t replicate it today.”

  7. Late Johnson winner leaves Bradford deflatedpublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 14 September

    FT: Walsall 2-1 Bradford

    Adam Whitty
BBC Sport at the Bescot Stadium

    That was breathless!

A great game between two teams who, and I'm aware how early it is in the season, look set to compete for promotion from League Two.

Danny Johnson was a very popular scorer. The Walsall youth product, returning to his hometown club, and back from illness, was the man to score in the final moments. I wouldn't exactly say the hosts deserved it, but it wasn't a smash and grab either.

I'd forgive Bradford manager Graham Alexander for pushing for short custodial sentences for his players. They had at least four gilt-edged chances to win, and Tommy Simkin, in the Walsall goal, saved their skin a few times.

It felt near criminal they did not score in the second half, or win this game.

  8. 'Chakvetadze injury a concern'published at 17:32 British Summer Time 14 September

He [Giorgi Chakvetadze] is the kind of player that gets people off their seat and for Watford he is really key because he’s a match-winner.

If it’s a serious injury and he’s out for a while, it is a concern because he’s been so pivotal in what they’re trying to do. It will be a big loss.

But Tom Cleverley has got a lot to be happy about in that second half because they didn't perform in the first-half.

The spoils are shared at Vicarage Road as an entertaining Championship battle draws to an even conclusion.

Coventry made four changes and switched systems for their visit to Watford, a side who had won their last three successive home games. It worked to good effect.

Ellis Simms with an early opener, his first goal in 13 matches gave Coventry a confidence boost as they dominated the first half and will rue not taking their chances when on top.

Tom Cleverley’s half-time team talk did what was required. The hosts showcasing more attacking threat in the opening minutes of the second period than they did the entirety of the first half.

Dominating on the ball and peppering the Coventry box with crosses and a succession of corners. Tom Dele-Bashiru finished a slick attacking move, scoring the equaliser that proved to be the final goal of a game filled with gilt-edged chances.

A point for both teams after the international break and as exciting a 1-1 draw as you will see in the Championship.

Sammie who? Striker Szmodics may play in Suffolk these days but in the man from Japan, Yuki Ohashi, Rovers have unearthed a player who could well fill his boots.

It’s five in seven in all competitions for the 28-year-old signed from Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the summer and his two finishes – mirroring the same goal just inside the area one with his right and then with his left sealed a superb win for the home side.

By then the game had got away from Bristol City, who gifted the first goal through goalkeeper Max O’Leary’s wayward pass in the first half with Lewis Travis punishing him with his first of the season. A cool finish from outside the box.

Whilst Bristol City struggled to give their fans anything to cheer, in Tyrhys Dolan, Rovers had a player on song. It was his endeavour for Ohashi’s first – dispossessing Joe Williams on the half-way line and carrying the ball to the edge of the area before feeding Ohashi.

The Japanese left to a standing ovation and a deserved player of the match award. Rovers were full of energy, broke at pace and showed threat across the front line. They’re unbeaten season continues and they are up to second.

It’s early days but the sun’s shining down on Ewood Park, and Rovers fans would be forgiven for looking up and dreaming big.

What an afternoon for League One!

    • Steve Bruce’s Blackpool left it VERY late to win against Exeter sealing his first win in his first game in charge. James Husband fired home in the 94th minute; it doesn’t get much better than that, unless you’re a Grecian.
    • Wigan pumped four past BristolRovers in what was a pretty brutal mid-table clash. Two goals from Joe Hugill, and strikes from Thelo Aasgaard, and Luke Chambers sent the Latics back up north very happy. 4-0.
    • Huddersfield have also blown away their opposition beating Bolton 4-0. Goals from Josh Koroma, Ben Wiles, and Anthony Evans piled on the misery for Ian Evatt
    • LeytonOrient got their first win of the season brilliantly beating Reading 1-0, thanks to a first half strike from Charlie Kelman. Is this the start of some kind of revival?
    • Stockport missed the chance to gain ground on Wrexhamdropping points against Crawley after taking the lead through Louie Barry. The Red Devils got the equaliser from the spot with 20 minutes left.
    • Peterborough were behind at the break to Lincoln but managed to draw it level to 1-1, through Kwame Poku.

Sometimes losing a game, you can learn a lot.

Regis Le Bris learnt a lot on how to manage games.

A little bit of inexperience out there. You need to come out in the second half and expect Plymouth Argyle to go for it.

Could Sunderland of stopped those goals? A big lesson to learn for Sunderland.

Coventry should have been out of sight long after Ellis Simms nodded them ahead after just four minutes but were made to pay for their profligacy as Tom Dele-Bashiru ensured a point for the Hornets after the break.

The architect of that goal, Georgian wizard Giorgi Chakvetadze left the field on a stretcher leading to a lengthy delay at Vicarage Road.

We all join in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Hornets keeper Daniel Bachmann might have preserved a point for his side with a save to deny Jack Rudoni in the ninth minute of stoppage-time.

    An absolutely see-saw match this.
