Summary

  1. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:23 British Summer Time 21 September

    Coventry 0-1 Swansea

Swans keeper Lawrence Vigouroux makes a great save from striker Norman Bassette to keep his side ahead.

Bassette takes the ball on the turn and goes running into the six-yard box. He puts some massive pace into his effort but Vigouroux's big left hand is there to prevent the equaliser.

  2. 'Leeds dominate but have to make it count'published at 15:23 British Summer Time 21 September

    Cardiff 0-0 Leeds

    Jon Newsome
Former Leeds defender on BBC Radio Leeds

When you dominate the game as much as we are dominating now you have to make it count.

We have to get a goal, we have to make the Cardiff City supporters in this stadium's shoulders drop another inch.

Leeds lost their first league game of the season against Burnley last weekend and, judging by their start to this game at Cardiff, they're determined to make amends.

The visitors have ripped through their opponents at will in the opening 20 minutes.

Although their dominance hasn't led to a goal yet, it already feels like a matter of time.

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Derby

Both Sheffield United and Derby County are searching for a third win on the spin today.

So far, however, all the notable goalmouth action has been contained to the first few minutes of this game, as it remains scoreless after 20 minutes.

It's been a good start for the Robins at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City midfielder Anis Mehmeti cuts inside an Oxford defender and takes aim for goal. It's on target but Jamie Cumming acts as a wall to stop the home side taking the lead.

Oxford may have some nerves as they look to get a win over their old boss Liam Manning.

    How might this one unfold?

The away side are starting to impose themselves in this game and Hatters goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski has to be alert to stop Michael Smith giving the Owls the lead from Barry Bannan's pass.

    Cardiff 0-0 Leeds

You wouldn't think with the array of attacking options Leeds have that scoring would be too much of an issue for them this campaign.

However, the Whites have drawn blanks in two of their five league games to date.

Midfielder Ilia Gruev has a couple of early sighters but doesn't work Jak Alnwick in the Bluebirds net.

A slight delay here as Tom Fellows goes shirtless for a few moments to take off his undershirt and then re-jig his heart monitor.

Questionable sartorial choices from the wide man who's been in electric form.

I mean it's now very humid but it was never cold!

Fellows has set up four in five games so far. Bali Mumba will have to be on his toes at left back to stop the now lighter-weight Fellows.

    Burnley 0-0 Portsmouth

Hull City's win at Stoke yesterday means that only Portsmouth and bottom side Cardiff are yet to win this season.

Not too much early action in this game, with the hosts having most of the possession.

Matt Grimes swings one towards Ben Cabango, who gratefully heads it towards an awaiting Liam Cullen.

He slots one in with ease. No pressure.

This will hurt for Coventry. The stands are suddenly a lot quieter than they were at the opening whistle.

Two teams locked on four points after five games in action at Kenilworth Road.

Swansea forward Eom Ji-sung has started this game brightly.

Five minutes in and he's already forced Coventry keeper Oliver Dovin into a saving his effort into the near post.

The Sky Blues are still nursing their wounds from their midweek loss to Tottenham and going down in the opening minutes would have really had the squad feeling dour.

It's been a pretty glamorous week in the EFL after Birmingham City investor and NFL legend Tom Brady watched his side face Rob McElhenny's Wrexham sitting alongside David Beckham on Monday.

Never one to be outdone by Brady on the field, former NFL linebacker JJ Watt is in attendance at Turf Moor today to see the side he is an investor in take on winless Portsmouth.

  16. Heavens opened at Hawthornspublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 21 September

    West Brom 0-0 Plymouth

    Sanny Rudravajhala
BBC Radio 5 Live at The Hawthorns

I was running just slightly later than I'd like to today... and I'm very grateful that unlike a lot of the Albion fans I walked in with, I had my pack 'n' mac to pop on as the heavens opened over The Hawthorns.

The deluge has been of biblical proportions to the point where the home players warming up decided to run off early! Or perhaps, they were just raring to go and who could blame them? Albion have won three in a row and were impressive in pushing all the way to the final minute in dispatching Portsmouth 3-0 last time out.

Carlos Corberan has finally made a change after sticking with the same side throughout. Serbian Uros Racic at 6' 4" provides some steel in the centre for Jayson Molumby.

You'd say Albion start as favourites but the nature of that second 45 minutes by Argyle in beating Sunderland showed Wayne Rooney's side can more than match the division's pace-setters.

They may have needed a late winner from captain Joe Edwards but they battered the Mackems' goal and it sets this up nicely.

With Sunderland beating Middlesbrough in their early kick-off, West Brom know they need to beat Plymouth to return to the summit.

Josh Maja has gone looking to give the Baggies the ideal start, but directs an effort just wide.

That has got The Hawthorns buzzing!

  18. Warnock leads Bamba tributespublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 21 September

    Chris Wathan

Former Cardiff manager Neil Warnock, the man who signed Sol Bamba for the Bluebirds, is among the guests at Cardiff City Stadium paying tribute.

Alongside the likes of Sean Morrison from the club's 2018 promotion-winning side, Warnock watched footage from the defender's time in south Wales displayed on the big screens here to warm applause.

Players had earlier warmed up in blue shirts bearing his name and number while a banner with his name and image has been unfurled in the Canton Stand.

Friends and family, as well as Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman and Leeds ambassador Eddie Gray have laid wreaths on the centre-circle ahead of a minute's applause with both Cardiff and Leeds fans joining in with a chorus of 'One Sol Bamba'.

Coventry will be heading into this game with a bit of a hangover from their 2-1 loss to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

The Sky Blues had led the encounter after Brandon Thomas-Assante's goal put them in front in the 63rd minute, only for Spurs to equalise in the 88th and put the final nail in the coffin two minutes into added time.

It was Wales forward Brennan Johnson who crushed Coventry's hopes of a big win while this afternoon it'll be Swansea looking to put a Welsh curse on the Midlands club.

It'll help the Swans cause that Coventry haven't won any of the last 17 league meetings between the two sides, albeit the last four were all draws.
