    Liverpool 1-0 Accrington Stanley

    Marc Albrighton
Former Leicester midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

So much quality going through that goal. They have made it look really simple.

Darwin Nunez makes a great run and then the square ball to Diogo Jota has to be perfect. Absolutely fantastic.

  2. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

  3. goal

GOAL - Bristol City 1-2 Wolvespublished at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    Scott Twine (45 mins)

    They take their chance!

An absolutely perfect free kick by Scott Twine, curling a right-footer over the wall and past the diving Sam Johnstone from 25 yards. David Beckham would be proud of that one.

Could that change the direction of this match?

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 12:46 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

Ayumu Yokoyama's goal after 33 seconds is the difference so far at St. Andrew's.

I can’t remember the last time Liverpool scored from a corner? We’re more dangerous from other team’s corners!

  9. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 1-0 Accrington Stanleypublished at 12:45 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    Diogo Jota (29 mins)

Accrington Stanley have started well but make the mistake of winning a free-kick in a dangerous area. When the ball is cleared suddenly Liverpool have a counter on the cards and they are masters of that craft. Trent Alexander-Arnold sends Darwin Nunez away down the right channel and he squares it for a tap-in for Diogo Jota.

Ngumoha does not look out of place at all. And defenders are swarming him, signalling his danger. They are only League Two, but they are a team with experienced players. He's 16 and doesn't look out of his depth at all.

Bristol City make a rare foray into the Wolves box, but Santiago Bueno does well to block the shot from Anis Mehmeti.

Liverpool just can't find that through ball at the moment, they can't find that killer pass.

  13. Postpublished at 12:42 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

Accrington Stanley were 40/1 to win this game but they've got through 25 minutes unscathed. And have looked OK so far.

  14. CLOSE!published at 12:40 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

That is close! Boro threaten as Riley McGree volleys just wide, with Blackburn keeper Balazs Toth wearing a cap to shield the winter sun. Old school. Lovely.

I know it’s early days in this match, but already Nunez has had a couple of squandered chances, the second being much easier than the first. Not a fan of Darwin, and the early wasted opportunities have just confirmed why. How Liverpool stick with him is beyond me.

    Tim

So far Darwin Nuñez not enhancing his reputation in front of goal. Think it's a good idea for LFC to move him on. Scores cracking goals, but only 1 in 40 ish fly in.

    Neal, LFC fan in Holland

New name required, I suggest Overthebar Nunez.

  20. 'Positive start' for Accringtonpublished at 12:36 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    Liverpool 0-0 Accrington Stanley

    Marc Albrighton
Former Leicester midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Accrington Stanley seem to know what they are doing defensively.

I've been really impressed when they have had the ball.

I'm sure they can create a few more opportunities after a positive start.
