Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "The very least we deserved was a point. I thought we were the better team and had the two best chances of the match.

"There was a lot of effort, blood, guts and thunder that went into the match. I was saying to my staff: 'Where’s my Joe Newell? Who’s going to come up with a moment or something that’s going to drag us back into this game?'

“My biggest fear was that we’d run out of time. So when you come from 1-0 down with so few minutes left, it feels like a good point.

"On another day, if we bring a wee bit more quality, we take all three points. But what has been synonymous with the team in my time here is that we never know when we are beat.

"We keep going and I think the crowd recognise that as well."

Kilmarnock striker Bruce Anderson tells BBC Scotland: "As a striker, I’m just delighted to get on the score sheet.

"I was choking to take the penalty; I didn’t know why it took so long. I’m here to score goals, that’s all I want to do.

"I’m a goalscorer, so to get off the mark in any way is good, hopefully it’s the first of many more.

"It’s been a hectic period for us so it’ll be nice to get some time on the training pitch.

"When we come back, we’ll be raring to go and climb up the table."

  6. 'Hearts confidence clearly shot'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 1 September

    FT: Hearts 0-1 Dundee Utd

    Michael Stewart
Former Hearts midfielder on BBC Sportsound

The first half was better from Hearts. The second half just drifted and it got worse as the game went on.

Hearts fell away from doing things that made the first half better, in terms of trying to penetrate behind the United defence.

The confidence is clearly shot, it's very low. There are very few positives. There is quality in the team but it's unbalanced.

This is Steven Naismith's team now. He has recruited this team, so there must be a clear identity to this team and how they want to play. But it's not clear.

There are no obvious solutions here. It falls on the club, the coaching staff and the recruitment. What is it they are trying to do? They have not solved it.

  7. Goodwin hails 'disciplined' United displaypublished at 17:27 British Summer Time 1 September

Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "We're aware Hearts are in a difficult run, that can sometimes make the challenge more difficult.

"You expect a reaction at some point, thankfully it didn't happen today. It was a really disciplined performance.

"But for better decision-making, we might have have got the goal earlier. It's another clean sheet for us. We can enjoy the next 10 days or so, relax a wee bit."

The club schedule is clear for a fortnight as attention turns to international action next weekend.

Don't think I'm ready to think about Scotland again. Euros still feel too raw.

  11. A fair result in Ayrshirepublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 1 September

    FT: Kilmarnock 1-1 Hibernian

    Kenny Crawford
BBC Sport Scotland at Rugby Park

    I think that’s a fair result.

An entertaining game, particularly in the second half, when both teams were really going for it.

David Gray will be frustrated his side couldn’t hold on that bit longer, but the performance from the Leith men was good.

As for Killie, keeping Bruce Anderson on the pitch paid off and he’s up and running. Great quick-thinking and pass by Liam Polworth leading to the penalty.

  12. Brucie bonuspublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 1 September

After four league games, that Bruce Anderson penalty is Kilmarnock's first Premiership goal of the season.

And it earned them their first point of the campaign.

The strike is not the best, but Ross Graham won't care about that.

He had a great game defensively. He won so many headers from corner kicks and crosses, and he was unlucky with a couple from attacking corners. I'm delighted for him.

It's a great start for United. It was a free hit before today, but they'll be absolutely buzzing heading into the international break on eight points.

Hearts' results since head coach Steven Naismith's new contract was announced on 9 August:

    • Dundee 3-1 Hearts
    • Falkirk 2-0 Hearts
    • Viktoria Plzen 1-0 Hearts
    • Motherwell 3-1 Hearts
    • Hearts 0-1 Viktoria Plzen
    • Hearts 0-1 Dundee United

    Ouch.

  15. FULL-TIME Hearts 0-1 Dundee Unitedpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 1 September

Hearts suffered their sixth defeat in a row as Dundee United maintain their strong return to the top flight.

Both sides missed chances at Tynecastle, breaking forward freely but looking blunt in the final third, before Ross Graham's trundling effort in the 77th minute caught out the unsighted Craig Gordon.

The victory in Edinburgh means United complete their opening four matches of the league season unbeaten, with only Celtic and Aberdeen boasting better records, while Hearts languish in 11th.

  16. FULL-TIME Kilmarnock 1-1 Hibernianpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 1 September

A stoppage-time penalty from Bruce Anderson denies David Gray a much-needed Hibs win.

Probably a fair result, in truth.
