Bristol City make it three wins from four Championship home games with an emphatic 3-0 victory that sees Portsmouth slip into the relegation zone.

Anis Mehmeti put in a star performance, scoring two goals and providing brilliant energy and trickery that the hosts just couldn't match.

Rob Dickie added a third as the Robins arguably sealed the result before half-time, lifting themselves to within four places and four points of the play-off spots.

Pompey - who beat today's opponents by the same scoreline in the reverse fixture earlier this month - are now second bottom and two points from safety, having lost five of their last seven away games.

Another defeat for bottom side Plymouth.

Will boss Wayne Rooney still be in charge for the visit of Bristol City on 1 January after their winless run stretched to nine matches?

    Watford 1-2 Cardiff

    Charlie Slater
BBC Final Score at Vicarage Road

We are going to have a chunky amount of stoppage time. Watford really should be level.

Daniel Jebbison off the bench with around 10 minutes remaining misses a sitter. The ball comes to him two yards out, he's just got to nod it in with his head past the keeper and somehow he puts it wide.

Cardiff haven't won since early November but they are oh so close now to a precious three points.

    Bristol City 3-0 Portsmouth

Bristol City have the luxury of giving minutes to substitutes like forward Yu Hiragawa, without any pressure on them to try to change or hold onto the scoreline.

We are into three added minutes.

    Bristol City 3-0 Portsmouth

With Bristol City having taken both feet off the accelerator, Portsmouth are trying to rally themselves to at least get a consolation goal, but it is proving an uphill task.

Josh Murphy plays in a cross which is blocked behind for a corner, but the subsequent delivery from Freddie Potts is poor and is easily gathered.

Christian Saydee is on as another attacking change for the visitors.

Marcus McGuane and Yu Hiragawa come on for the Robins.
