Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"We are so stretched it's unbelievable, and I'm so proud of my team. I thought we were light at the start of the season.

"But I've learned so much about their attitude, especially late on. A few of them have not been well this week, but they left everything out there.

"We were actually really disappointed to go in 1-1 at half time. But we were pushing and pushing to get a winner. We were bold, We were brave.

"Andre Brooks was outstanding. He needed to do more Monday to Friday in training - but I was delighted for him to get that goal."

West Bromwich Albion joint caretaker boss Chris Brunt told BBC Radio WM:

"We were a little bit flat first half on Boxing Day, but we carried on from the second-half performance for the whole 90 minutes.

"On another day we could have come away with all three points, and I don't think anybody could have questioned that.

"The way Karlan Grant has come back this season has been a breath of fresh air. He's been written off by so many, but he's been outstanding so far this season.

"It's all about keeping the players in the right mindset at the current time. All we can do for now is take each game as it comes."

QPR boss Marti Cifuentes was left with mixed feelings after conceding a late goal in his side's 1-1 draw at Norwich City.

"We performed at a good level in the first half, the guys showed personality and enthusiasm," he told the club.

"The second half was not the picture that we wanted. We started to drop lower.

Cifuentes still has reason to take pride as his side closed the gap to five places to Norwich, having been 14 places below the Canaries at the end of November.

"The guys showed big commitment, it's difficult to be critical with the way they work," the R's manager said.

"Always my goal - even if we are leading - is to try and score the second [goal].

"To be fair, Norwich deserved their equaliser because they were pushing."

Marcelino Nunez' goal rescued a late point for Norwich City at home to Queens Park Rangers, but Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup was still left frustrated that his side did not play better at Carrow Road.

"First half is not perfect, but we still have OK control and create some OK moments, but that goal just before of course half-time changed it a lot," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"We tried to push them back and we tried to create as many moments in and around the box as possible.

"We created enough chances to score at least one goal," he added.

QPR did not have a shot on target, with the goal they scored going in off Norwich striker Ante Crnac from a set piece, much to the disappointment of the Canaries boss.

"40% of the goals that we concede come from set pieces, from the last international break to now. It's frustrating because we should not be in that situation."

    Derby v Leeds (17:45 GMT)

It's not been a good day for the teams in the top six of the Championship so far today.

Sheffield United did enough to go back to the top of the table but had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw with West Brom in the early game before Sunderland, Blackburn and Watford, in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively all lost in the 15:00 GMT games.

Can Leeds buck that trend with a win at Derby to go back to the second tier summit?

The Rams claimed a win over the Baggies on Boxing Day but haven't beaten Leeds in a league game since October 2017.

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Danny Rohl to BBC Radio Sheffield following their 3-1 loss at Preston North End:

"I think it was an unnecessary defeat. We had moments in the game but when you concede three goals it's not enough.

"Even after we went 2-1 down we had had big chances but that's football. We have to defend better.

"It's always the same players - they do the mistakes and they have to step up. It's about man-marking and look at the ball with the opponent in your view. You can defend as a group and this is what we have to improve.

"In the box, to take something, you have to be better."

Preston manager Paul Heckingbottom spoke BBC Radio Lancashire after their 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday:

"I really liked the spirit and the heart we showed, which I thought increased as the game went on so, yeah, I loved that win.

"One thing that Wednesday do well is changing things and we were not aggressive enough in certain areas of the pitch and that was the message at half-time.

"You're always searching for better and looking to improve things up the top end of the pitch.

"We've got a good squad, I can make changes and it doesn't weaken the team - that's a good place to be and we have to use it."

Wayne Rooney's Plymouth Argyle are four points from safety after losing at Oxford United.

They have also now conceded 18 goals in their last five away games without taking home a point.

Hull City's victory at Blackburn sees them climb out of the bottom three, with Portsmouth dropping two places in the table following a crushing 3-0 defeat at Bristol City.

Cardiff are up one place, thanks to taking three points at Watford.

Absolutely huge. What a three points that is. They were nine without a win. This is their first victory since 2 November.

In front early doors when Callum Robinson fired home and then Giorgi Chakvetadze levelled towards the end of the first half for Watford. But Robinson scored again just four minutes or so later.

Watford had loads of the ball in the second half but did little with it. They lose at home for the first time this season.

Cardiff get a precious three points.

It's not been a good day for the promotion-chasing teams in the Championship so far today, as the teams in fourth, fifth and sixth all lost to teams at the wrong end of the table.

Fourth-placed Sunderland fell to a late defeat at struggling Stoke, fifth-placed Blackburn were beaten 1-0 at Ewood Park by Hull City and Watford's unbeaten home record fell to a surprise end as Cardiff claimed their first away victory this campaign.

Better days for Swansea and Bristol City who claimed home wins over Luton and Portsmouth respectively to move into the top 10 of the second tier.

The players only have themselves to blame.

It's the types of goals we're conceding and times when we're conceding that's frustrating. It was a soft goal to concede in the end.

We keep saying we've got to learn, but we're not.

Myles Peart-Harris' stoppage header snatches all three points against 10-man Luton.

Hatters skipper Carlton Morris had given his side the lead to score his seventh of the season only for it to be cancelled out by Goncalo Franco's second goal in two games.

Luton's Joe Johnson was shown a second yellow for a foul on Eom Ji-Sung before Peart-Harris' winner.

The win sees the Swans move up a place into ninth while Luton are yet to find a win on the road losing their past nine games as they drop down to 19th.

Cardiff win a Championship away game for the first time this season, while Watford's 15-game unbeaten home run comes to an end.

But Robinson bagged his and Cardiff's second just minutes later to help lift them out of the relegation zone.

Watford taste defeat at Vicarage Road for the first time since March and Cardiff end their nine-game winless streak. Huge three points for the Welsh side.
