The bottom side have a mountain to climb now...

Przemyslaw Placheta joins Ciaron Brown in scoring in back-to-back games for the Yellows.

The Polish playmaker comes back and finishes with aplomb after charging free down the Oxford right.

That's now 51 goals conceded in the league by the Pilgrims this season.

  7. 'Cardiff could be 3-1 up'published at 16:17 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Watford 1-2 Cardiff

    Charlie Slater
BBC Final Score at Vicarage Road

Watford are one of only three Championship sides yet to lose at home this season but with nearly 12 minutes played in the second half, they continue to trail against Cardiff.

Cardiff could have made it 3-1. That man Callum Robinson involved again. This time down the left-hand side of the penalty area.

He found Manolis Siopis, from around 18 yards out, it deflected just wide of the right hand post.

  8. CLOSE!published at 16:15 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Coventry 0-0 Millwall

Coventry City are knocking hard on the door in search of the game's opening goal.

It's Victor Torp who has the Sky Blues supporters up and out of their seats now, as he bends an effort just wide of the far post.

  9. Postpublished at 16:14 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Blackburn 0-0 Hull

Rovers have the first corner of the second half and it's sent deep.

Lewis Baker gets a nod to it but Hull are able to clear it away in the scuffle to claim the ball.

  10. CLOSE!published at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

  11. Postpublished at 16:13 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Bristol City 3-0 Portsmouth

Scott Twine's shot is Bristol City's first opportunity of the second half. He jinks past a defender, but his strike is blocked and goes out for a corner.

Unfortunately for Portsmouth, they are showing the hallmarks of a side that has struggled away from home.

Only Plymouth Arygle have conceded more goals on their travels this term, but the away form of Wayne Rooney's side is not a standard you really want to be measured against.

Argyle - the league's bottom side - are two points below John Mousinho's side, who in turn are one point from safety.

  12. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Coventry 0-0 Millwall

Coventry so nearly take the lead. They do everything but score with this one!

Jack Rudoni clatters the crossbar then the post and the ball bounces up and away from the mouth of the goal. Staggering.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:11 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2024

    Swansea 1-1 Luton

First change of the game as Swansea goal scorer Goncalo Franco is forced off through injury.

This is a much better start to the second half by Plymouth.

They seem to be playing with much more energy and just had a decent chance to equalise.

Bali Mumba really impressively sped down this near left-hand side before whipping in a cross which wasn't far away from being poked in.

The away supporters have been encouraged by the opening 10 minutes from their side.

    Watford 1-2 Cardiff

Cardiff have tried and failed to win an away game in the league 11 times so far this season (D6 L5).

They're one goal to the good at Watford, who have lost their past three against the Bluebirds at Vicarage Road.

It's been a happy hunting ground for the visitors, who will be hoping to keep that run going.

Worth noting that four Stoke players were booked in the first half.
