Burnley's Josh Brownhill tries to bundle his way into the box but Boro are able to clear for a corner.

The Clarets try to work it short with a clever routine but Boro's Daniel Barlaser is adjudged to have been fouled in the box and the move breaks down.

Another good opening for Burnley as Jaidon Anthony cuts inside and tries to curl one into the far corner from the edge of the box with his left foot but it's a good few yards over the bar.

Josh Cullen, who is making his 100th appearance for Burnley tonight, tries to send in a cross from the left but it flies over everyone and out of play.

That's the best chance of the game so far for Boro. Latte Lath just couldn't quite keep his header down.

Josh Brownhill finds a yard on the edge of the box and scuffs it wide.

Moments later, Boro go up the other end with Emmanuel Latte Lath who feeds it wide for Ben Doak to cross back to Latte Lath but he heads over.

Burnley are cranking up the pressure a notch now. Hannibal Mejbri sees his cross deflected behind for another corner for the visitors.

They can't make anything of it but the last five minutes or so have been played firmly in the Boro half.

Burnley's Jaidon Anthony finds himself in acres on the right and drifts into the box.

He whips one in but it's cleared and eventually goes behind for a corner.

Anthony then plays it short before crossing but Boro can get it away again.

Josh Laurent races in behind towards the byeline for Burnley and tries to cut one back but he's thwarted brilliantly by stand-in Boro keeper Tom Glover.

He's the third choice for Michael Carrick but looked solid there.

It's an intriguing tactical battle tonight.

Only Norwich (76) and Plymouth (73) have been involved in games with more goals than Middlesbrough (72) in the Championship.

Meanwhile, Burnley are the team that have been involved in games with the least goals (39).

Now it's Burnley's turn to have a sustained period of possession. The Clarets are knocking it side to side, probing for an opening.

Josh Brownhill scoops a cross into the box but it drops for Boro keeper Tom Glover who can thump it clear.

Delano Burgzorg has been involved in a lot of Boro's play so far and looks in the mood. The hosts are trying to get him in down the left with frequency.

Another move starts by feeding it out to Burgzorg before he recycles but it eventually breaks down.

Middlesbrough are letting Burnley knock it about deep inside their own half - in their own area in fact.

But Boro are trying to press as soon as the visitors advance forward. The Clarets try to send it over the press but it goes straight out of play.

Josh Brownhill feeds Zian Flemming on the right for Burnley, who cuts it back on the edge to Jaidon Anthony, but his effort is blocked.

Lively start to this one with both sides looking to get forward.

It's 100% a yellow card. He just comes across him and the referee is about five yards away from it.

Boro's Delano Burgzorg is roared on as he scampers down the left.

But Burnley win it back and Jaidon Anthony breaks away before George Edmundson takes him out on halfway to stop the counter.

A long night on a yellow for Edmundson now.

There's a great atmosphere inside the ground as two sides chasing promotion go head-to-head.

Both sides just getting their foot on the ball in the early stages.

Burnley get us going at an almost packed Riverside Stadium.
