The Egypt forward’s previous deal was scheduled to run out in the summer and there had been doubts he would stay.
That followed comments the 32-year-old had made during the season, as well as speculation linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia.
However, he will now have the chance to add to his 243 goals and 109 assists for Liverpool in 394 appearances.
"Of course I'm very excited - we have a great team now," said Salah. "Before we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football.
"I have played eight years here, hopefully it's going to be 10. I'm enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I have had the best years of my career here."
Salah has scored 32 goals in all competitions this season, including 27 in the Premier League as the Reds chase a 20th top-flight title.

Manchester City have work to do if they are to get a Champions League place, although their task was made easier this week when Arsenal's 3-0 win over Real Madrid ensured the Premier League would get an extra Champions League spot, meaning there will be at least five English teams in Europe's top competition next season.
Their opponents today Crystal Palace, who, like City are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, will still be dreaming of qualifying for Europe.
Leaders Liverpool don't play today, so Arsenal could end the day eight points behind them. Southampton's 3-1 loss at Tottenham on Sunday saw them become the first team to be relegated.

Arsenal have lost just one of their 10 home games against Brentford in all competitions (W5 D4), going down 2-0 at Highbury in April 1938.
