Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "We did enough to deserve to win the game. Now we have the international break so let's take a chance to breathe and bring some players back hopefully.

"We weren't able to finish some of the actions. I really liked the attitude of the team."

On beating Chelsea: "It was a big game and we wanted to win against a top team."

On a break: "We have a few players and I will have a few days off and then prepare for the last sprint of the season."

Cole Palmer played last Thrusday night

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca to BBCMatch of the Day: "We are in the right path. There was't a big difference between them an us in terms of creating chances. We could create something more for sure. In the end we lost from set-pieces."

On Reece James playing in midfield: "Reece is doing well, so are Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. We have Noni [Madueke], Nico [Jackson] and [Cole] Palmer out and they have scored most of our goals."

On Cole Palmer: "The feeling is that he can be back after the international break."

On whether he will be absent for England duty: "For sure, because he is injured and he didn't play today."

  5. 'The team played with an unbelievable spirit'published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to Sky Sports: "We should have done much more but we are very happy and it was an important game. We play a top opponent and the team played with an unbelievable spirit and now we go to the international break.

"The only thing we can do is try to win our matches. If we do, we are in a better position."

On Mikel Merino playing up front: "We have had top players out for many many months. Our team has an incredible resilience. Mikel really wants to do well, he has never played that position before but he is scoring goals. He is a really dangerous player in the box and he can help us. Really pleased, even physically it is a very different game to play as a nine."

On Bukayo Saka returning after the international break: "He has a good chance, yes."

  6. 'For us it's game by game'published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Fulham 2-0 Tottenham

    Fulham

    FulhamImage source, PA Media

Fulham manager Marco Silva to BBC Match of the Day: "All of the first half was in our offensive half. We had some good moments but of course the last pass, the last cross wasn't the best. At half-time the conversation was to be more patient."

On Ryan Sessegnon's goal with his weaker foot: "It is something he is practicing really hard. Hard work from him. Him and the other guys are doing extra work really hard every week. It is something he is improving. We know he is so good on the left but he is also improving on the right.

"We wanted to finish in the top half of the table at the start of the season. And of course if you are there you can go up. We're not going to try to compromise for anyone. I don't like ifs in football. I like to look to the present and the future. For us it's game by game, not the end of the season. The next one is the FA Cup and then another game at Craven Cottage.

"Two days break now and after hard work for the players who will be with us."

  7. 'We were in the game until the end'published at 15:54 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we were in the game until the end. There was not a big difference in the two games between us. Given the injuries, we fought until the end. After the international break, we can have more players back like Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke for the final sprint."

On coping with injuries: "We competed well, The game was there. They scored a set-piece, they are masters at that. It is a shame but my feeling is that we are going in the right direction."

"We controlled the game, we created some chances. In the second half we were there. Overall, I think we competed very well."

On Robert Sanchez: "We are quite happy with both of our keepers and today Robert was good."

On fighting for a Champions League spot: "It is a big one for us and for all of the teams who are in there. When you win you are close to the target but when you lose you can see yourself as far away from the target."

  8. 'We deserved it'published at 15:53 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Fulham 2-0 Tottenham

    Fulham

Fulham manager Marco Silva to Sky Sports: "We did not create many chances but controlling a side like Tottenham is not easy. The pace they have with Solanke and all of the wide players.

"But the impact off the bench again was amazing for us. We deserved it because we were the best team on the pitch. To win again, at home."

On Willian: "When you have a player of that quality it doesn't matter if he is 36 or not. He is a player of top quality. He needed time to match the intensity of the Premier League. But the way we play is a big help for him because we are able to take the best of him for us."

  9. 'A difficult campaign for us'published at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on BBC Match of the Day: "It was a tight game, it always is when you play here. I thought for the most part we were pretty comfortable. We had a big chance to go ahead and then we conceded a really soft goal and the game got away from us.

"Both goals were pretty soft. At the very least you want to stay in the game. I thought in the second half we were the better team and had the best chances up to that point. So to concede is very disappointing.

"It's been a difficult campaign for sure. But I feel we've lost too many games that we should have got stuff out of, and this was one of those games.

"It's another international break we go into off a loss and you feel that. We just need to make sure we're ready for when we come back."

  10. 'Champions League football is our target'published at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo speaking to Sky Sports: "The team is good, the team is working hard to win the games. We want to show character, we want to play our best football and we want to win games like this."

On finishing in the top four: "We want to play Champions League football next season. The teams are close but we are just focused on ourselves because that is the most important thing. Champions League football is our target."

  11. 'It wasn't a great game'published at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time

    Tottenham Hotspur

    Ange PostecoglouImage source, Reuters

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou on Sky Sports: "It's a disappointing outcome. I thought up until they scored we were really on top of them. It was a tight game and we hadn't made a save at that point and they scored a really soft goal. Then the game got away from us. It's disappointing.

"It wasn't a great game. We had a couple of chances to score."

On Tottenham's penalty shout when 1-0 down: "I'll leave that to the officials, but it does seem that the fact we don't carry on hurts us at times.

"It was a difficult game. I don't think any team created too many openings. We probably had the best one at 0-0. Like I said, we conceded a soft goal that gave them the advantage.

"We made a lot of changes today which I felt might help the team. It's our challenge between now and the end of the season. European football and league games."

Winger Ryan Sessegnon looked understandably emotional and gleeful as he came off the pitch with his teammates and the Fulham coaching staff making this win all about him.

This has been some journey after a difficult injury-hit five-year spell at Tottenham to sealing victory with a wonderful finish back at Craven Cottage.

But Spurs looked very downbeat after the match as they suffered their sixth consecutive defeat before and international break in the Ange Postecoglou era.

  14. Fulham 'have one eye' on Europepublished at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time

    FT: Fulham 2-0 Tottenham

    Fulham

Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon to BBC Match of the Day: "It puts us right up there for the European spots, and it's nice to get a goal as well.

"I was told to bring energy on the left-hand side. I was told to keep it tight but at the same time keep that threat going forward too.

"As a team we have one eye [on the European places] and we're taking it game by game, we just need to keep going.

"I enjoyed my time [at Tottenham], five years at the club. Playing-wise I didn't play as often as I'd have liked, mainly because of injuries, but I still respect the club."

How long are we going to chase that particular ghost? I fully expect Ange to be sacked when we inevitably limp out of Europe and when we do, can anyone argue that he won’t fully deserve it?

    Jon, Spurs fan

Spurs fans being furious about losing to Fulham is a bit silly. We're pushing for the Champions League places, anyone coming to Craven Cottage shouldn't expect to come away with anything.

    Ryan SessegnonImage source, Reuters

Fulham midfielder Ryan Sessegnon: "It's amazing, especially the way we won it. I'm happy to come on and contribute. It was a tough game and we took our moments when we needed to.

"Massive credit to the manager and as subs we want to come on and affect the game. Rodrigo is one of the best at it.

"I knew I could use my strength and speed to get ahead. I shrugged off Ben Davies a bit and I managed to get it in with my right.

"I spent five years at Spurs and I'm grateful for my time there. So that's why I didn't celebrate.

"I'm feeling good, sharp and strong. I just want to play a little bit more. When I get the chances I want to prove I can play at this level.

"We're taking it one game at a time but we've also got one eye on the European spots."

The fight for European football is the most interesting thing left this season. With both the title & relegation virtually decided. Eight teams in the mix for European football - anyone from fourth to Brentford in 11th could claim a spot heading into the last nine games of the season.

    Andy Reid
Ex-Tottenham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Arsenal deserved the win, they were the more asertive team and they created more chances.

Chelsea never really got going. They couldn't hurt Arsenal and I can't remember many clear cut chances that they had.
