  1. Who needs a striker?published at 13:55 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea failed to have a single touch in Arsenal's box in the opening 20 minutes, the first time they've failed to have a touch in the opposition box in the opening 20 mins of a Premier League game since May 2023, which was also against Arsenal at the Emirates.

    Arsenal 1-0 Chelsea

Chelsea look rattled and after Declan Rice wins the ball back in midfield Wesley Fofana leaves a boot in and stands on the England midfielder. The VAR guys take a look and decide there is no red card offence in that but it was all a bit rough and ready.

  3. 'Excellent header from Merino'published at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

You can't say it hasn't been coming, Arsenal have dominated.

It's a really good delivery into the near post but more than that, it is a really good run and an excellent header from Mikel Merino.

He had to stoop down to get a good contact on it. He looped it over Robert Sanchez who was stretching but he couldn't get on the end of it.

Brilliant, brilliant header from Merino and you have to say Arsenal deserve a goal.

  4. CLOSE!published at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Fulham 0-0 Tottenham

As Arsenal took the lead Spurs went close too, Mathys Tel drove into the area with a dynamic run and powered in a low cross/shot that whistled past Bernd Leno and the far post, with Dom Solanke not quite able to reach it either.

There you go! Arsenal open the scoring and it's from a corner too - that drought is over.

Martin Odegaard whips in a left-footed corner to the near post, Mikel Merino is in the Steve Bould role (ask your dad) at the front post to help on the cross and it loops almost in slow motion into the far corner.

Robert Sanchez wasn't at fault but...it still didn't look great.

Brilliant from Gabriel Martinelli who beats Benoit Badiashile with ease and powers in a low cross which Chelsea just about to hack out. They do look ragged, the boys in blue.

It feels like a bit of a pile on but that's not brilliant again by Robert Sanchez, a bit flappy at a cross and he only punches the ball to Leandro Trossard inside the area but the Belgian scuffs a shot wide.

    Error count = high.

Mike: If you haven't got a keeper who can play out from the back then DON'T do it. Find another solution. I would imagine that's what the best coaches do! I'm calling for the end of Maresca!

Ian: I'm sorry to be picky, but it has taken just 10 minutes for Sanchez to display his utter unsuitability to play Premier League football!

  10. 'Not an awful lot has happened'published at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Fulham 0-0 Tottenham

    Ben Mee
Brentford defender on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

That corner was attacked well by Rodrigo Bentancur, but it was a bit too high for him.

There's not an awful lot that's happened in this first 15 minutes. There's that Sunday feel too it!

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea only completed 27 passes in the first 10 minutes of the game which is not a lot. Arsenal are well on top but are yet to score - a familiar tale?

  12. Postpublished at 13:45 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Fulham 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs win back-to-back corners as they push for the opener at the Cottage but Rodrigo Bentancur can't control a header.

Marc Cucurella and Chelsea are lucky they didn't concede a penalty for handball in that melee, having seen it again. The defender lost his balance and fell forwards and definitely moved the ball with his arm.

VAR said there was no need to look at that again.

Boycie: As a Chelsea fan of over 65 years I fail to understand today’s team selection! Mind you, I failed to understand Maresca’s appointment in the first place! We’re going to get a drubbing today - you heard it here first!

Steve: Neto up front again. Surely there’s a kid in the reserves who could have a game for some experience. Wonder how long Fofana and James will last before they have to come off for injuries Arsenal should walk this.

You want to have that real security behind you, somebody who is going to be composed, calm, make saves at the right time and I wouldn't imagine that the Chelsea defence feel that way about Robert Sanchez at the moment.

  16. CLOSE!published at 13:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

  18. CLOSE!published at 13:43 Greenwich Mean Time 16 March

    Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea

Chaos! How have Arsenal not taken the lead there!? Let's sort this out.

Jurrien Timber cut the ball back, Wesley Fofana cleared off the lnie, a deflection off a defender is swatted out by Robert Sanchez and Declan Rice then blams the ball over the bar.

There was also half a handball shout in there as well!

The Blues goalkeeper position has been an issue all season and Sanchez has just regained his spot as first choice for the Premier League.
