Well we can help you there with that point Simon, Pep Guardiola could have been talking about Manchester United, as you well know.

With that in mind, we thought we would highlight the difference in league position between the two teams, and reflect on how that differs from last season:

    • 14th - Man Utd 38 pts
    • Gap between City and United - nine places and 17 pts

BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

I wonder who Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was thinking about when he assessed his team's performance this season and effectively said they must have done something right because they are fighting to get into the Champions League as the season enters its final month.

    "We could be 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th."

Which team from Manchester is 14th?

  5. 'We could be in a much lower position in the Premier League'published at 14:14 British Summer Time 18 April

Everton v Man City (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on whether he has been paying attention to the Champions League with his side not being involved in it: "I enjoy the games. They have been very nice games. Tuesday at Villa Park was a fantastic game. I enjoy it, I miss it of course.

"This is sport and sometimes you don't perform well and don't deserve to be there. Hopefully next season we can be there and deal with the big clubs in Europe and challenge them better than we have done this season. Challenge them like we have done in the last seven years."

On motivation to get back there: "Of course it's a motivation. I think it's not a bad thing that we have to fight to qualify for the Champions League. We could be in a very lower position in the Premier League. We could be 11th, 12th, 13th or 14th, I don't have any doubts about that. We haven't been good but it is in our hands."

There has not been an official update on Ederson's fitness after the Manchester City goalkeeper had to be replaced during last Saturday's 5-2 victory over Crystal Palace.

After the match, manager Pep Guardiola said the Brazil international had felt something in his knee as he went to kick the ball.

It was not anticipated Ederson would be fit for tomorrow's trip to Everton and the city boss confirmed his absence...

A final word from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta on Sunday's opponents Ipswich, who could be relegated depending on how this weekend's results go: "I understand where they are at the moment and they're playing at home. For us it's a big game, we need to start winning matches in the Premier League to at least maintain the position we are in, and to push into the last few games with strong hope.

"They are a really well-organised team. What Kieran [McKenna] and the staff have done is remarkable. You see every week the amount of issues they give to the opposition, so we expect a tough game."

Ipswich v Arsenal (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Arteta was asked about midfielder Thomas Partey being out of contract in the summer.

Has there been any progress on a new deal?

"With all the players, I leave that to Andrea [Berta] and the club to decide," says the Arsenal boss. "The intention is very clear, I leave that with the club to take steps forward."

  15. Arteta on Havertz returnpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 18 April

Ipswich v Arsenal (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Mikel Arteta on whether Kai Havertz - who has not featured since 5 February because of a hamstring injury - could be back in time for the Champions League semi-final with Paris St-Germain:

"I think that's too close, but if I had to bet on him earlier than expected, I would say yes. The way he's pushing in the gym, you cannot hold him much longer."

  16. 'We have to step up'published at 13:39 British Summer Time 18 April

Ipswich v Arsenal (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Mikel Arteta on Arsenal's Premier League form, with third-placed Newcastle just four points behind the second-placed Gunners: "The priority now is to win games in the Premier League. We were in a much better position but the last two draws have significantly changed that.

"Credit to Newcastle for the form they are in and the way they have been playing. We need to step up and start to win [Premier League] games."

  17. Arteta's 'preference' to play second leg at homepublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 18 April

Ipswich v Arsenal (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Arsenal's Champions League semi-final first leg with Paris St-Germain is at Emirates Stadium on 29 April.

Which team would have home advantage for the second leg was decided by a random draw and was not down to seedings.

Arsenal beat defending champions Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate over two legs in the quarter-finals, winning the first leg at home 3-0.

"My preference has always been to play the second leg at home," said Gunners boss Mikel Arteta. "The second leg is madness, it can go anywhere."

  18. 'That's why we brought Rice to Arsenal'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 18 April

Ipswich v Arsenal (Sun, 14:00 BST)

    Arsenal

Mikel Arteta was asked about Declan Rice's leadership skills after his man-of-the-match display in the Champions League win at Real Madrid:

"He's learning more and more. His performances like he had in the second leg against Real Madrid put him in a different dimension. That's why we brought him here.

"That's why we are demanding as well. It's about maintaining that level of consistency and belief. Undoubtedly his role will be bigger and bigger."

"A few options," says the Arsenal boss. "We're not going to give anything away."

On the importance of the remainder of Arsenal's Premier League programme: "We have to make sure we win the game [against Ipswich] and make sure that [Liverpool winning the title this weekend] doesn't happen."
