As a neutral I’m very happy for both Spurs & Utd fans because it’s been a difficult season, but there might be some light at the end of the tunnel!! The Thursday night league at its best & UEFA will be very happy with this new setup and who would have thought it would bring so much joy to United & Spurs fans, Enjoy!!

  4. Snow joke - Bodo/Glimt's home close to Arctic Circlepublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 18 April

Below is where Tottenham will play their Europa League semi-final second leg on 8 May.

The Aspmyra Stadion, home to Bodo/Glimt, is just north of the Arctic Circle and the artificial pitch was covered in snow last week.

That should have cleared in time for Tottenham's visit in three weeks time but the ground's capacity is just 8,270 compared to 62,850 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As bad as United and Tottenham are, they are both capable of incredible moments and good performances. Rather than seeing it as a disgrace if either United or Tottenham win the Europa League, see it as a sign of how strong and competitive the Premier League is now. Two teams who are in the bottom half of the Premier league stand a great chance of winning!

Manchester United are through to their second European semi-final in four years. In 2021 they put SIX past Roma at Old Trafford in an eight-goal Europa League semi-final first leg.

Bruno Fernandes scored two of those goals as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team put one foot in the final. Sadly there were no fans inside Old Trafford due to Covid-19.

Despite losing the second leg 3-2, United went through 8-5 on aggregate.

United faced Villarreal - managed by Unai Emery - in the final. After extra time ended 1-1, Villarreal won an epic penalty shootout 11-10.

  7. Remember Tottenham's last European semi- final?published at 11:23 British Summer Time 18 April

Who can forget Tottenham's last semi-final appearance in Europe.

After losing 1-0 at home to Ajax, they faced a huge task in Amsterdam to turn it around and reach the 2019 Champions League final.

Goals by 19-year-old Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech saw Spurs trail 3-0 on aggregate yet, on a memorable night, Mauricio Pochettino's side went through on the away goals rule after Lucas Moura scored a second-half hat-trick.

    Ajax's goalkeeper that night?

It would be terrific just simply because both teams have had such a bad domestic season. They have been no where near it, but they could end up in the final.

Hopefully Tottenham would be on the winning side.

Has nobody been watching Bodo/Glimt? These sides are getting ahead of themselves and are ignoring the one side who have possibly looked the most complete in the tournament to date.

    Richard, Sligo

Athletic Bilbao will beat both of these teams. Won’t rule out Bodo/Glimt either. They’ve had a great run. Got carried away with the drama last night, but in the cold light of day it is so evident that neither of these teams are good enough to win the Europa and frankly would be an embarrassment in the champions league next season.

  10. 'I don't believe in miracles'published at 11:12 British Summer Time 18 April

    More on Tottenham's semi-final opponents Bodo/Glimt.

They are the first Norwegian side to reach a European men's semi-final, while they have won eight of their last ten two-legged European ties.

Speaking after his team's quarter-final penalty shootout win over Lazio, boss Kjetil Knutsen said: "I don't believe in miracles, I believe in our journey. Today, the magic was with us. We played an extraordinary match and we're incredibly proud to be in the semi-finals."

Goalkeeper Nikita Haikin added: "It's historic, not only for Bodo/Glimt but for all of Norwegian football."

The semi-final first leg will be played at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 1 May with the return a week later in Norway.

Athletic Bilbao, who currently sit fourth in La Liga, are desperate to reach the Europa League final as the showpiece on 21 May is being held at their San Mames stadium.

They are two-time finalists in the competition with their last appearance in the final coming in 2012 when the lost an all-Spanish showdown with Atletico Madrid 3-0 in Bucharest.

This season the Basque Country club have defeated - amongst others - Fenerbahce and Roma to get to this stage.

It is 13 years since Manchester United last faced Athletic Bilbao, with the Spanish club emerging 2-1 winners in the Europa League on their way to the 2012 final.

Re: Tom at 10.38, Nope Spurs are not the worst team left. They have beaten United twice this season with an aggregate score of 6-3. They are a good team suffering poor form. The fact they still beat United twice and are unbeaten against them in their last 6 games together is telling.

  14. Who are Tottenham's opponents Bodo/Glimt?published at 10:59 British Summer Time 18 April

Bodo/Glimt are the underdogs with a BIG bite.

They were playing in the second-tier of Norwegian football as recently as 2017 but have since been crowned champions in 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024.

They play in the town of Bodo - population 42,831 - just north of the Arctic Circle.

In this season's Europa League they have defeated - amongst others - Porto, Olympiakos while they overcame Lazio - two-time champions of Italy - on penalties in the quarter-finals.

In November, they came from behind to lead Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford before losing 3-2.

There won't be too many Spurs fans inside the Aspmyra Stadion on 8 May.

That's because Bodo/Glimt's ground has a capacity of just 8,270 - smaller than Glanford Park, home of National League North Scunthorpe United.

I'm kicking myself this morning that I missed one of the greatest Man United comebacks. At 4-2 United looked dead and buried. As we left Old Trafford with hundreds of other fans I felt dejected and disappointed and started to contemplate the depressing reality of shopping at Poundland in the transfer market and a new season without any european football. I could also foresee the glee and satisfaction in the media in United's downfall. As we exited the turnstiles, United got one back, I sarcastically thought great a consolation goal. A group of fans had gathered outside the megastore like a vigil, staring up at a screen in the red cafe with faint hope, or watching the slow death of the greatest club in football history. It was slightly surreal. Crossing road at Busby Way we heard a second roar from OT along with the sound of car horns. We couldn't believe it. It was amazing. The look of disappointment on fans faces had now turned to hope and belief as we all turned to our phones in desperate hope. Then as we approached OT cricket club news and excitement broke out of a winner by Maguire. It was completely unfathomable. Arise Sir Slab Head. A player heavily criticised by fans and media. Wow. What a story it would be for him to lift the Europa cup. I hope and pray he gets the opportunity to finish his story arc. No doubt it would be a best seller. I'm not getting carried away. It was truly a spectacular night, more so for the fans that stayed, but United need to summon something special again to beat and get past Bilbao. GGMU.

Matt the prat for leaving OT

Tottenham didn't concede any goals; they were also hard to beat, and honestly, the way they dictated the game was very pleasing to watch. So overall, it was a very decisive win for Spurs.
