For those that may have missed it due to being caught in the chaos (totally understandable), there was a real nice moment between goalkeeper Andre Onana and manager Ruben Amorim after Harry Maguire's match-winning.

Onana, who was reinstated to the staring XI for Thursday evening's game after being dropped on Sunday, proved there was no hard feelings between him and the boss.

After Maguire's header hit the back of the net, the shot-stopper immediately ran over to the touchline, wrapped his arms around him and lifted him off the ground.

He then shared a hug with fellow stopper Altay Bayindir, highlighting that the goalkeeper's union is alive and well.

Onana also posted on his Instagram page overnight, sharing a group of pictures, including one of him hugging Amorim alongside the caption: "Built with ONANA MENTALITY."

Andy says he spoke for MOST people, when he said he switched off the TV with six minutes of Manchester United's victory over Lyon remaining - before the comeback started.

We are thinking that quite a few people did stay the course, but were you one of the ones who didn't?

Did you go to the match but leave Old Trafford early - either in disgust or to beat the traffic?

If so, we would love to hear your story.

Oh Manchester United! Like most people, I switched off with six minutes to go and the score at 2-4. This morning, I can't believe what I'm seeing. This must be the first time I've ever been overjoyed and fuming (that I missed it) at the same time.

    Europa League

The last all-English Europa League final saw Chelsea hammer Arsenal 4-1 in Baku in 2019.

Will Spurs face Manchester United at the San Mames in Bilbao on 21 May?

Remember, if it was possible to forget, the prize for the winners is not just the kudos of winning a European trophy - they also qualify for next season's Champions League.

I was onstage at the theatre last night…as an understudy…I thought I can’t have anyone tell me the score, during the show. It could be a disaster. At the interval, I sneaked under the stage and went into the crew room to watch on TV. Man U were 1-0 up, and when Bruno almost scored that belter, the vibes were good. At the end of the show 2-2. Not so good. A 10-minute walk back to my flat and well into extra-time….2-4..no…no… this can’t be happening. Just as in 1999, I turned the radio off. By the end of extra-time I was jumping up and down like a kangaroo. Conor McNamara’s commentary was amazing. Why do you do this to me Man U?!? My moment of professional glory completely obliterated.. but you know, I wouldn’t have it any other way!!. “Glory glory etc..”

  7. Friday's headlines so farpublished at 09:01 British Summer Time 18 April

Just joining the fun? We've been trying our best to make sense of what was an extraordinary night of Europa League action. Here's a quick breakdown of what we've been discussing:

    • Manchester United reach the Europa League semi-finals with a stunning comeback, beating Lyon 7-6 on aggregate
    • Ruben Amorim's side were 6-4 down in extra time before three late, late goals
    • Here is how the drama unfolded - as the commentary encapsulated the utter chaos
    • It was also a night for some wild stats as we learn that it was the first game in European history to have five goals scored in extra-time
    • Here's what some of you have been saying: Craig's worthwhile six-hour trip & James - 'What a week of sport!'
    • A huge night for Tottenham too, who overcame a hostile atmosphere to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 on aggregate with Dominic Solanke's first half penalty - Ange Postecoglou will be feeling chipper this morning
    • And, with Rangers' defeat to Athletic Bilbao, the semi-finals are set - Tottenham v Bodo/Glimt and Manchester United v Athletic Bilbao

We will have plenty more reaction, so keep your message coming throughout the morning.

Delighted for Amorim and Ange. One has a truly awful squad and the other decimated by injuries/ no support from above. I think both are truly excellent coaches if they have the right tools. Ps. it says something when Maguire is the best CF at the club by a distance, at least he creates a bit of havoc and looks like he might do something when the ball is crossed in.

Twenty-four hours in the life of Ange Postecoglou...

"No, no idea," said the Tottenham boss on Wednesday when asked whether he would still be in a job following the Europa League quarter-final second leg game at Eintracht Frankfurt.

After Thursday's 1-0 win in Germany, Postecoglou said: "You're going to have to put up with me for a little bit longer."

Postecoglou added: "Our fans have been through a tough time. Hopefully this gives them something to look forward to.

"People like to mock and diminish my achievements but I'll leave that there. I don't care, it doesn't bother me, it doesn't affect what I do. For me, it's always about the dressing room.

"Do the players believe? Do the staff believe? That's much more important than what others may make of me. So, unfortunately for a lot of you, you're going to have to put up with me for a little bit longer."

Ange Postecoglou, with his back against the wall, lives to fight another day.

We will never know whether Tottenham would have relieved him of his duties had they gone out of the Europa League on Thursday - but he was certainly under huge pressure heading into a game that was probably the biggest of his reign so far.

Victory buys the Australian some time - you can't see a scenario where Tottenham would sack him before the semi-final.

But while it keeps the wolves from the door for now, he is not out of the woods.

While Europa League success is a factor, it will not be the only consideration for Spurs when it comes to them deciding whether Postecoglou is head coach next season.

Their Premier League form, which has be extremely poor, will be taken into account, as will Postecoglou's connection with the supporters, which has been mixed to say the least.

With a win in Germany, Postecoglou has given himself a fighting chance, although this result alone is unlikely to be enough to keep his job safe in the longer term.

Eintracht Frankfurt 0-1 Tottenham (agg 1-2)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Seventeen defeats in 32 Premier League games, heading for a bottom-half finish in the table after a thoroughly underwhelming domestic season...but Tottenham are in the semi-finals of the Europa League after a gutsy 1-0 win away to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Dominic Solanke's first-half penalty in Germany was enough to earn a 2-1 aggregate win and set up a two-legged semi-final with Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.

It's 41 years since Spurs won a major European trophy when they defeated Anderlecht in the Uefa Cup final in Brussels in 1984.

Will they go all the way this season?

So while we have focused on the dramatic scenes at Old Trafford so far this morning, the fact is that two of the three British sides involved in Europa League quarter-finals made it through.

Rangers are out after enduring a disappointing night at Athletic Bilbao, who will host the final on 21 May.

But Tottenham and manager Ange Postecoglou produced a gutsy display to reach the last four.

    More on that to follow.

  17. It's all worth it - Amorimpublished at 08:22 British Summer Time 18 April

Man Utd 5-4 Lyon (agg 7-6; aet)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Sat in the press box at Old Trafford last night, having shaped a report around Manchester United winning, another one about them throwing it away before the finale that took your breath away, I can only imagine how much stress and raw emotion Ruben Amorim was going through as the drama unfolded.

When he came into the media room an hour later, I asked Amorim what it felt like in the moment.

"I think that’s why we like this sport so much," he said.

"All the frustration that the coach has in this kind of season, the frustration, the bad moments, when you have moment like this it’s all worth it.

"But then you finish, you calm down and we have a game on Sunday."

United play Wolves in the Premier League. Their manager Vitor Pereira was there for the start of the game but I think he had left before the real drama began.

  18. Amorim 'inspired' by 1999 for Man Utd comebackpublished at 08:18 British Summer Time 18 April

Man Utd 5-4 Lyon (agg 7-6; aet)

There are few more famous comeback wins in Manchester United's history than their 1999 Champions League triumph.

That night at the Nou Camp, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjær struck in injury time to overturn Bayern Munich's early 1-0 lead and win European club football's most coveted prize.

While Thursday's night's dramatic and unexpected comeback victory against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals is not of the same magnitude as that famous night 26 years ago, it motivated Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim to experience such moments himself.

"I was watching again the 1999 documentary to have some inspiration for these moments," Amorim revealed to TNT Sports after the 5-4 win against 10-man Lyon, during which United scored three goals in the final six minutes of extra time to seal a 7-6 aggregate win.

"It was a great night - 4-2 with one more player you think it's over, but here it is never over. I felt here everything is possible."

It was a bit of a stat-buster Craig. Some wild firsts in this one.

Be sure to tell us the next game you are planning on attending so we can pencil that one in the calendar:

    • Harry Maguire’s goal was the first 120th-minute winning goal scored in Europa League history and the first in a major European tie since Atletico Madrid beat Liverpool at Anfield in March 2020.
    • It was only the second 5-4 win in Manchester United’s history, along with their 5-4 victory over Arsenal in the top-flight in February 1958.
    • United's 5-4 win over Lyon was also the first game in major European football history to see five goals scored in extra-time
