Another day of Championship carnage and we're not quite done this weekend.

Burnley could move as high as second with a win at Millwall tomorrow, while the Londoners are going for three victories on the bounce and a place in the top 10.

If it's anything like today's action it could be an absolute cracker.

  3. 'For a first time, the response to the red card was good'published at 18:10 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: QPR 0-0 Sunderland

    Sunderland

Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris speaking to BBC Radio Newcastle:

"The clean sheet is very important. It's never easy to win away.

"The first-half was balanced. It was more difficult when they played direct and we struggled to control their style of play.

"In the first-half, we caused them some problems. After the red card, it was different. In such a long league, we will have this kind of scenario sometimes so for a first time, it was good.

"It's a decision and we need to respect the decision. I hope we will learn from this because when we are away, with this kind of atmosphere, it can be interpreted a different way."

  4. 'We had many good performances from individuals'published at 18:07 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: QPR 0-0 Sunderland

    QPR

    QPR head coach Marti Cifuentes:

“We can look at the game in two ways - we are a little bit disappointed not to score a goal and close the win we are really looking for, but the positive is that we played a good level against a very high level team that is top of the table for good reasons.

“We had many good performances from individual players, and it is a third game unbeaten and second clean sheet.

[On man advantage} “Experience tells you that it wouldn’t be easy. The stadium demands and the momentum demands you score in every action and it’s not easy against a team that doesn’t concede many chances especially as they defended low.

“Jonathan Varane was really good and he and Steve Cook did really well in the centre back position.”

  5. 'I don't think we deserved that'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Cardiff 2-1 Norwich

    Norwich City

Norwich City conceded goals in the 90th minute and injury time to lose 2-1 at Cardiff and manager Johannes Thorup has told BBC Radio Norfolk:

"We played a perfect away game until about 75 minutes.

"I really think it's hard for us because I don't think it was deserved for the lads.

"We knew we would suffer in the last 20 minutes and we tried to slow it down because we have players in there who are only really capable of playing 60 minutes at the moment.

"The players need to understand they did well until 75 minutes but we also had to dig deep and defend but it wasn't solid enough and wasn't good enough."

  6. 'Watford showed their class'published at 18:03 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Sheff Wed 2-6 Watford

    Watford

Watford boss Tom Cleverley told BBC Radio Three Counties:

"We showed a real personality to compete through not such a good first half performance and then showed our class in the second half.

"I'm really pleased for (Vakoun) Bayo with his four goals because he does an amazing job for the team.

"The away form has not been as shocking as it has looked on paper before today, we just had three poor performances.

"We were absolutely fantastic in the second half and I'm happy that five of the goals went in at the end our supporters were in. They've got another long trip on Tuesday (at Swansea) and hopefully we can back it up."

  7. 'It shows volumes about how far we've come'published at 18:01 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Preston 1-3 Bristol City

    Bristol City

Bristol City head coach Liam Manning speaking to BBC Radio Bristol:

"Really pleased, really proud of the players. Not the prettiest of games.

"I think the lads showed what are about in terms of, culturally, problem solving and finding a way. The second and third goal was moments of outstanding quality.

"I think you have to do everything in football. I think there's a little bit of snobbery around styles and philosophies of what it's meant to be at times.

"There's real progress for me. I look back to the Derby game where we gave up after 3 goals and probably didn't have the compactfulness, that resilience, that willingness to defend . It show volumes about the group today with how far we've come and we've still got a long way to go."

  8. 'We knew coming here was going to be difficult'published at 17:59 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Leeds 3-0 Plymouth

    Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney told BBC Radio Devon:

"I think the result was probably the right result.

"We knew coming here today was going to be a very difficult game, over the last few weeks we've picked up some key injuries in key positions for us, so we knew today was going to be very difficult.

"We tried to come and be resilient and not open up too much - we knew we'd have to defend the box a lot and I thought we did that well up until their first goal.

"Then it's a crazy seven minutes where we concede three and the game's done, so very disappointed with the result and we have to move on from this game very quickly."

  9. Farke praises 'dominant and complex' Leeds displaypublished at 17:56 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Leeds 3-0 Plymouth

    Leeds United

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke told BBC Radio Leeds:

"I'm not sure if I was ever involved in a game at this level with such statistics - I think there were nine shots on goal for us and their expected goals was 0.0 and 0 corners for them.

"Yes we were in total control of the game, this was what I love when you are so dominant and have a really complex performance.

"We needed 10 or 15 minutes to find our tactical positioning between the lines and our offensive roles behind the striker in order to create a few more gaps and chances against a back six in front of them.

"Afterwards we were all over them, created many good situations, scored three really good goals and could have done a bit more second half."

  10. 'We played better with 10 men'published at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Middlesbrough 0-3 Coventry

    Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough had Hayden Hackney sent-off after 22 minutes when the game was 0-0 but despite ultimately falling to a 3-0 reverse Boro manager Michael Carrick has told BBC Tees he felt they handled that situation quite well:

"I thought the boys dealt with playing with ten men well and I fancied us to get back into it but we didn't start the game well.

"If anything the red card settled us down and forced us to play better.

"The second goal was the big goal because as the second-half progressed I thought we gave ourselves chances.

"I've not looked at the two yellow cards for Hayden, the referee's made a decision and he's not going to change it now."

  11. 'There were some good performances out there'published at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Middlesbrough 0-3 Coventry

    Coventry

Coventry recorded their first away win of the season in the Championship and manager Mark Robins told BBC CWR:

"Regardless of what happened in the game with the sending-off we were brilliant.

"The players showed a lot of courage and a lot of quality and there were some really good performances out there.

"We lost Ellis Simms to a foot injury before the game but Brandon Thomas-Asante showed he's an able player and put them under a lot of pressure.

"It's important to get the clean sheet because we can't keep conceding goals and we gave up some chances but I thought we were very good today."

  12. 'We quietened that noise by our dominance'published at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Blackburn 0-2 Sheff Utd

    Sheffield United

    Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder:

"We should have kept it a little bit more or made better decisions with the ball in the first half.

"The game wasn't done. You've got to fight for everything, especially against a team that have won five out of six at home.

"They're going to come for you but I thought we really quietened that noise by our dominant second-half performance.

"They've had one header, a shot that went wide from distance but, apart from that, I can't remember anything else. That's the way the game goes. They are searching to get back into it, we have quality on the counter-attack."

  13. 'Came up against a real top team'published at 17:44 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Blackburn 0-2 Sheff Utd

    Blackburn Rovers

    Blackburn Rovers boss John Eustace:

"We came up against a real top team with good individuals and it's disappointing.

"I thought first half we held our own, got some really good opportunities without making the most in the final third. When they scored the second goal, we kind of lost belief, which was disappointing.

"The first half, we competed very well. We won the ball back a lot and had a lot of opportunities on that turnover. We just lacked that bit of quality in the final third. We're getting into good opportunities without being clinical.

“Second half, I thought we started a little bit slow but then we did have a couple of opportunities. We got going and then obviously they went and scored. We tried to change a few things around and unfortunately it didn't work."

  14. 'Watch the goal back - we are nasty'published at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Stoke 2-1 Derby

    Stoke City

Narcis Pelach, manager of Stoke City acknowledges the fansImage source, Getty Images

Potters head coach Narcis Pelach told BBC Radio Stoke:

"I was very pleased with the goal. We have worked a lot on set-plays. When I was with Huddersfield, we were the best team in the league. We scored 22 goals from set-plays by keeping it very simple but being very aggressive.

"We wanted to be more aggressive than them. We want to be this strong team that scores with wide free-kicks and set-plays.

"I am really pleased. When you watch the goal back we are nasty. We put the ball into the six-yard box and we get good contact with it. I am pleased that our captain has scored it after the mistake for their goal.

"We were the better team. We deserved to win. We scored a nice goal with some really good play which resulted in the penalty, but for me the most important thing was coming back mentally from the goal we conceded."

  15. 'Don't think we played well enough to merit points'published at 17:38 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Stoke 2-1 Derby

    Derby County

Derby boss Paul WarneImage source, Rex Features

Derby head coach Paul Warne told BBC Radio Derby:

"I am so disappointed with the second goal. I don't expect anyone will be surprised to hear me say I think it is a foul.

"But, if you run flat out into the front zone man, to knock him out of the way and you score in the front zone, then I'm going to be disappointed.

"But I don't think we played well enough in the entirety to merit any points. At 1-1 I thought we were going to win it.

"Even the Stoke fans thought it, that we might get a goal sooner or later. We tried to make attacking substitutions, and I'm an optimist. But, if you don't play well enough, you possibly don't get anything out of the game."

  16. 'We were value for victory' - Williamspublished at 17:34 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Oxford 1-2 Swansea

    Swansea City

    Swansea head coach Luke Williams:

"I think we deserved to win. That’s really important for me.

"Oxford threw absolutely everything at us and I think we could have dealt with that a bit better, but I still think we were value for the victory.

"We played football how we want to play from the beginning. I don't think we waited for a goal to start playing.

"The point is I am trying to convince the players that if we play in a certain way from the beginning of games and throughout games, goals will come."

  17. 'We are so much better than that'published at 17:31 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Oxford 1-2 Swansea

    Oxford United

    Oxford head coach Des Buckingham:

"I didn’t think we were very good at all for very large periods of the game.

"Despite not being very good with the ball, we have still created three very good goalscoring moments before Dane scored.

"We are so much better than what we have shown. We need to make sure we believe we are good enough to do what we do at this level.

"We have had a really good six to eight months. We knew this year was going to be a challenge. We will lose games of football, but we are not losing them that way, not while I am here."

    Championship table, bottom 10

Draws for bottom two Portsmouth and QPR, with the latter's coming against the leaders, have made no inroads in getting either out of the drop zone.

Though they do both inch ever so slightly closer to Luton Town and Plymouth, who switch places following Argyle's 3-0 defeat at Elland Road and yesterday's home 1-1 draw for the Hatters against West Bromwich Albion.

Cardiff's late win lifts them to 17th while Stoke's 2-1 victory over Derby puts them 16th.

Meanwhile Sheffield Wednesday, Oxford City and Preston all drop places following their respective defeats - with the Owls feeling particularly sore having lost in a 6-2 drubbing to Watford at Hillsborough.

    Championship table, top 10

Sunderland stay top despite being held to a draw by QPR but the gap is down to three points with Leeds brushing aside Plymouth 3-0 while Sheffield United are up to third with their lunchtime win at Blackburn.

Watford's 6-2 hammering of Sheffield Wednesday moves them into fifth place above West Brom, who drew at Luton last night.

Bristol City are now unbeaten in their past eight Championship matches and move into the play-off picture with their 3-1 victory at Preston.

Norwich's late collapse at Cardiff drops them down to ninth place and Middlesbrough are also down to tenth after their 3-0 home defeat by Coventry.

Burnley play Millwall tomorrow and we'll have coverage of that one for you.
