Summary

  1. goal

GOAL: Cardiff 0-1 Norwichpublished at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Borja Sainz (52 mins)

His ninth goal in eight games, and it's brilliant.

David Turnbull loses possession in the Cardiff midfield and Norwich move the ball up to Borja Sainz who sends a fantastic shot beyond Jak Alnwick.

  2. Postpublished at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Cardiff 0-0 Norwich

Norwich finished the first-half strongly and, as things stand will move up one place to seventh in the table but they'll want all three points.

But it's Cardiff who have the first effort in the second period with David Turnbull's free-kick comfortably dealt with by Norwich goalkeeper George Long.

  3. Postpublished at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Leeds 3-0 Plymouth

Wayne Rooney's brief and unhappy period as Birmingham boss came to an end after a 3-0 loss at Leeds in January.

No indications that he'll be in similar trouble if this ends as you'd expect for his Plymouth side.

  4. goal

GOAL: Hull City 1-1 Portsmouthpublished at 16:05 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Josh Murphy (46 mins)

Great start to the second half for Portsmouth!

Josh Murphy scores his first goal for Pompey in the first minute after the break.

The winger's effort took a couple of deflections on its way in but he wont be especially bothered.

  5. Postpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Coventry

Bobby Thomas's third league goal for Coventry in 54 appearances has the visitors ahead against their ten-man opponents.

But Boro' have served notice they won't just roll over with Johnny Howson having a shot blocked and seeing a free-kick deflected just wide.

Coventry still have work to do if they're to nail a first away league win of the season.

  6. Second halfpublished at 16:04 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

We're getting back under way in our seven second tier games.

  7. As it standspublished at 16:01 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

Leeds are heading second as it stands - and it's tough to see that changing, so dominant have they been in scoring three times without reply in that first half against Plymouth.

Watford and Norwich both being held but with the top six in their sights.

  8. 'Blades underscored difference between sides'published at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    FT: Blackburn 0-2 Sheff Utd

    Sanny Rudravajhala
BBC Radio 5 Live at Ewood Park

If you are a Blackburn fan, then today was really quite worrying. Only one win now in six and they are struggling for goals.

The industry of Tyrhys Dolan wasn’t quite matched by some of the others in the final third and I always worried for Yuki Ohashi today against that dominant Blades backline.

For Sheffield United, at 2-0 you would expect such a mean defence to shut up shop. What’s really positive for them therefore was how they kept pushing for goals. On another day Kieffer Moore and Gustavo Hamer would have added to Burrows’ and Campbell’s super strikes.

For me, it was a game where United really underscored the difference between a team who’ll definitely be in the promotion mix versus one perhaps a little fortunate to still be there.

Rovers’ unbeaten home record falls but they’ll have a chance to put things right here on Wednesday against Stoke.

For the visitors, up to second as we speak, there’ll be a spring in their step as they head to Bristol City for their Tuesday night encounter.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:54 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Preston 0-1 Bristol City

Yu Hirakawa of Bristol City (7) scores his sides first goal of the match and celebrates with team-matesImage source, Rex Features

Yu Hirakawa's opener will be a massive talking point should the Robins go ahead and win this following the most obvious of handballs in the lead-up.

The goal scorer gives the ball a smack before guiding it into the net. Preston keeper Freddie Woodman immediately signals the action to the referee but to his dismay, his pleas are dismissed.

If Preston can't turn it around, they will feel very hard done-by. The goal was Bristol City's only shot too.

  10. 'Surprisingly even affair given table'published at 15:53 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    QPR 0-0 Sunderland

    Richard Wolfenden
    BBC Final Score

Considering both these sides are at opposite ends of the table it's been a really even affair at Loftus Road.

  11. 'Quite a quick pace here'published at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    QPR 0-0 Sunderland

    Nick Barnes
    BBC Newcastle's Sunderland commentator

The two teams go in goalless at half time, there's been quite a quick pace here, both teams having their chances, Dan Neil's probably being the most noteworthy hitting the post.

  12. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Watford

    Entertaining stuff in South Yorkshire.

Ryan Porteous gave the away side the lead but Michael Smith got a quick equaliser.

Watford have lost their past six away games so they'll be content with how this one is going.

  13. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    QPR 0-0 Sunderland

It's been an intriguing first-half between the teams at the bottom and top of the table but QPR are keeping the Black Cats at bay for now.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Hull City 1-0 Portsmouth

Joao Pedro's (not that one) first goal for Hull City has them a goal up on the bottom side.

Some hope for Pompey, eight of the Tigers' past 13 home games have ended level.

  15. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Coventry

Difficult to see how Middlesbrough get anything out of this one.

Coventry had already had two goals disallowed for offside before Hayden Hackney collected a second yellow card and was sent-off by referee Thomas Bramall.

Haji Wright then had a shot blocked before the visitors finally got themselves in front with Bobby Thomas heading in a Josh Eccles cross.

The dismissal of Hackney forced Boro' into a change with Johnny Howson replacing Finn Azaz and Howson's come closest for the home side but his shot was blocked.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Cardiff 0-0 Norwich

It took a while but Norwich got on top as the half wore on in South Wales.

Borja Sainz has forced Jak Alnwick into an excellent save while Shane Duffy has sent two headers wide of goal.

Cardiff actually started the brighter with Chris Willock's early shot which went wide the closest they've come to breaking the deadlock.

  17. Postpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Sheff Wed 1-1 Watford

Another smart save from Daniel Bachmann to keep the scores level.

This time the Austrian is bravely off his line to smother Josh Windass' effort.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    QPR 0-0 Sunderland

QPR are doing well against Sunderland so far, even leading the shots statistic against the biggest attackers in the league, but they do have to use an early substitution.

Harrison Ashby needs to come off so Hevertton Santos is on to see out the half.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Leeds 3-0 Plymouth

Leeds cruising back up to second, Plymouth wishing they'd stayed at home.

Goals from Dan James, Joel Piroe and Brenden Aaronsen have the promotion chasers in full control.

Wayne Rooney's men did come from three goals down to draw with Preston last week.

Could they do it again today? Well, given they haven't had a shot of any kind yet I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say no.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 2 November

    Preston 0-1 Bristol City

Preston's Ali McCann is the first name in the naughty book for a pull back on Jason Knight.
