The crowd is really starting to condense around the lofted ninth green. We can see a light blue streak in the distance as Bob MacIntyre swings - but where will his little white ball end up?

It’s a tough green, with contours everywhere. He bounces it flag high and it rolls ominously up the hill…

“STAY!” shouts the crowd and stay it does at the back edge.

  2. Postpublished at 17:33 British Summer Time 14 July

    Morikawa -16 (9)

Collin Morikawa matches Adam Scott's birdie with a birdie of his own at the ninth.

He's within one of Aberg at the top.

  3. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 14 July

    Aberg -17, MacIntyre -15 (8)

The crowd were willing that in, but MacIntyre’s putt rolls just wide.

There’s a big cheer from the 9th behind us. Ominous news for the leader. Will that put Aberg off?

    His putt also rolls past.

  4. Scott holes out from bunkerpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 14 July

    Scott -15 (9)

    What a shot!

Adam Scott plays a delightful bunker shot at nine that lands short of the hole, checks and rolls right into the heart of the hole.

There's hardly any reaction from the Aussie, who might still be annoyed by the double bogey at the last...

  5. Postpublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 14 July

    Aberg -17, MacIntyre -15 (7)

    Andrew Petrie
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

The temperature has dropped as the wind picks up. A few folk will be regretting the choice of shorts.

Bob MacIntyre is 15ft short of the hole after his second shot with a nasty downhill bank to contend with.

Aberg is pin high but 20ft to the left.

  6. Postpublished at 17:28 British Summer Time 14 July

    Morikawa -15, Scott -14 (8)

Good bounce-back ability from Collin Morikawa at the ninth, as he puts his tee shot to around 10ft.

He'll have that for birdie, but his playing partner Adam Scott is in the greenside bunker.

  7. Disaster hole for American duopublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 14 July

    Scott -14, Morikawa -15 (8)

    Andrew Petrie
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Collin Morikawa said “I’ll go” and allowed Adam Scott to compose himself. The American chipped short, then pushed his putt wide for a bogey five.

Scott knocks his wedge to within two feet of the hole for double bogey. “Just pick it up Adam!” someone says. Encouraging lot, these fans.

  8. Postpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 14 July

    Scott -16 (7)

    Andrew Petrie
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Adam Scott has had a disaster on the eighth. His first chip goes right the way across the green and down into a collection area, and his second hits the bank and comes back to him.

“See you later, potater” says the Geordie fan next to me.

  9. Postpublished at 17:18 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -15, Aberg -17 (7)

Two pars on seven for the final pair.

MacIntyre's birdie putt had a good look at the hole but drifted past.

  10. Postpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 14 July

    Scott -16, Morikawa -16 (7)

I'm stood at the eighth green, where Adam Scott and Collin Morikawa are taking their time with their approach shots.

The wind, which has picked up a fair bit, is behind them.

Morikawa misjudges it and goes long. It’s almost on the toes of an American spectator, who did her best to get out of the way. Good footwork.

  11. Postpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 14 July

    Langasque -15 (16)

There's a new name towards the top of the leaderboard as Romain Langasque eagles the 16th.

He's now six under for the day and 15 under for the tournament.

  12. Postpublished at 17:13 British Summer Time 14 July

    Aberg -17, MacIntyre -15 (6)

At the par-four seventh, Ludvig Aberg's approach shot just finds the front of the green, but Bob MacIntyre fires a wonderful iron shot to 11ft of the hole.

Can the Scotsman narrow the gap?

  13. Postpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -15 (6)

    Andrew Petrie
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

He’s not normally hard to read, but MacIntyre is cutting a steely figure so far.

Unlike some of these players, there was no messing about there at the tee box.

In and out in less than 60 seconds.

  14. Chances missedpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 14 July

    Scott -16, Morikawa -16 (7)

Adam Scott and Collin Morikawa both have putts inside 10ft for birdie on seven, but neither can capitalise.

Aberg stays on his own at 17 under.

  15. Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -15 (6), Aberg -17 (6)

    Not really, Andrew.

His birdie putt is always low of the hole. Aberg's effort has more of a chance, but just misses to the left.

  16. Postpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -15 (5)

    Andrew Petrie
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

Bob MacIntyre is roared onto the stadium hole. Can he keep up the pressure on Aberg?

    Aberg -17, MacIntyre -15 (5)

BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

A swfit response from the Swede

Ludvig Aberg reclaims the outright lead with a birdie on five.

MacIntyre can't make eagle but gets his first birdie of the day.

  18. Another bogey for McIlroypublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 14 July

    McIlroy -12 (9)

Rory McIlroy's tee shot at nine rolls off the green into a collection area, and he can't get up-and-down to save par.

He's back to level par for his round and he looks unlikely to defend his title.

  19. Postpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 14 July

    MacIntyre -14 (4)

    Martin Watt
BBC Sport Scotland at The Renaissance Club

    That's better from Bob MacIntyre.

He drives the the green on the fifth and has an eagle chance from 25 feet.

He drained a 40-footer for eagle here yesterday...

  20. Three-way tie at the toppublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 14 July

    Morikawa -16, Scott -16 (6)

Collin Morikawa draws level with Ludvig Aberg at the top of the leaderboard after he drains his birdie putt at the sixth.

And his playing partner Adam Scott follows him in to also move to 16 under.
